Pair of New Condition but Fairly Old Nike Shoes, Worth Much?

So I found a pair of Nike Air Flight Lite High shoes I bought a long time ago, never wore, still in box as new. I had just forgotten about them. Not sure the year, perhaps roughly 2008 or 2009. Not really my style anymore, but I could keep them.

Wondering if any of you sneaker freakers out there can tell me how much they might roughly be worth? Thanks. Necessary photos below:

Which south East Asian country market were they purchased from?

    • Erm, Melbourne…

So I reckon either Vietnam or China, sold as "of course they are genuine just we manufactured too many"

      • Well I bought them from a Melbourne shopping centre.. I think either Footlocker or Nike but don't really recall exactly. They are genuine. I'm not trying to sell them to you guys just wondering how much they are worth. More than likely I'll just keep them even though they don't 100 per cent fit my current style, hence my curiosity.

According to eBay sold listings they will sell for a minimum of $69

    • I looked at eBay as well but because there are so many makes of this type, and such varying prices, I got very confused…

I think I paid roughly $140 for them back in the day….

Go to Gumtree, list them for $420.

I think this is a classic case of they’re worth what someone is willing to pay for them really. No specific set value.

    • True, thanks. I guess I'm just looking for a realistic ballpark so I know whether to keep them or not… Maybe I should just put them on eBay and see how much I get, I don't know.

      • You wont get much for these. If however you slap on a jumpman logo, that's a different story!

      • they were $140 from a retail store and you're worried about resale?

i know nothing of shoes so thought maybe you paid 400ish or something silly, like a "cult" shoe or something

list it on ebay/ marketplace and you get what you get

  • Nike must make millions of shoes every year. If there was a chance of them ever being valuable then sneaker heads would have lined up and bought them all out, you wouldn't be able to walk into a shop and buy them, you'd think.

    • That's true to some extent, but sometimes they do limited edition special shoes. I remember getting my suade air force 1's with a red rose (pretty unique) in 2018 and having to order them from Europe because all of Australia was all out…

I'm no sneaker freaker though tbh hence me having no idea how much these ones are worth.

I rewatched White Men Can't Jump this morning, if these had the lime green accent instead of the red, I'd probably want them.

  • Being Nike and about 15 years old they are no good as shoes anymore. The glue holding the soles will crack in first use and the sole materials will disintegrate with a bit of motion.

    • Thanks for your opinion. I don't share it since they were stored well, but fair enough, perhaps you are half right.

      • +1

It doesn't matter how they are stored, they will still fall apart due to the materials used. You'll find the whole sole will seperate from the upper almost instantly if you try to wear them around.

        • Interesting… Do you think that applies to all brands, or just Nike?

          • @Misha Bakunin: Yes. It's just the nature of the glue and materials used. Mainly the glue just cracks becuase it has dried out and hasn't flexed since the shoe was manufactured so the shoes fall apart.

My old man got a pair of decent quality boots every year through work but just kept wearing the original pair for years. He went to use a pair that had been sitting in the original box in the wardrobe for five or six years and the sole seperated within ten minutes. You really need to wear them semi regularly to keep them holding together.

      • My wife had a pair of nike hiking type shoes she wore for about 3 years on and off then put in the cupboard and didn't wear for a few years. She decided to introduce them back into rotation and about 1/2 hour later when walking around she felt something stange on her foot. We sat down and the soles crumbled like an oreo. 6-7 year old, still looked in fair>good condition but were useless.

They’re Nike Flights with yellowed soles, in other words they’re pretty much worthless.

If they were a pair of Jordan 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 11’s, a rare set of dunks/Air Force 1/air max they'd be worth something. These are worth pretty muchnothing, you’d struggle to get your money back on them unless You find tht one person who wants that colourway that badly (but don’t get your hopes up on that)

Stick them up for $140, tell a sneaker group, and see how hard you’ll get laughed at. They may be new but your soles have yellowed which will hammer your resale value

The fact that GOAT or stockx don’t have many listings for them is testament to just how worthless they are. I’d stick them up for $100 and be happy if you get $50 for them.

    • Actually looking closely parts of the sole are slightly yellow. I wonder why that is, they literally haven't been out of the box and stored inside since bought? Odd… But what the hell do I know about sneakers really… Not much lol.

Harsh words but probably accurate. I think I'll just keep them and wear them, or as you said try and get under $100 for them.

Only way you're going to find out how much theyre worth is throwing them on FB marketplace or Gumtree. Start at what you paid for them and see what you get. These arent the classic retro Jordans or Nike Air Max that can resell for hundreds over retail.

Sneakers are meant to be worn. Keeping them in boxes will do exactly what you have in that the soles go yellow.

See this on yellowing soles (it gets even nerdier if you want to read more info on yellowing soles)

What else happens, which you cannot see, is that the foam becomes brittle and over time will disintegrate. If you’re wearing them make sure you check them regularly because you may seem some cracks in the midsole. This will mean that they are likely to deteriorate soon.

I’ve had a pair of Air 180’s fall apart on me when I wore them. I spent years not wearing them. Bought in 2005, rarely used, and then in 2020 they fell apart on me wearing them. The structure of the upper was fine, the mid sole disintegrated. loved those shoes but live and learn

        • Yep same thing happened to my 2009ish Ultra marine 180s. Pulled them out this year for air max day and they started crumbling. Luckily they are retroing next year.

          • @astrotrain: Yay (to the release)

            But :-( to yours

My ultramarine 180’s died (2010 Release) as did my lime green ones (2005 release). The latter pair I hunted around Sydney for and managed to grab that pair. Called around god knows how many stores until I found my size. It was back when getting reissued shoes in Australia was not the easiest
