    $135 good price

  • Thanks OP - great find. Bought one from the only store in Perth that seems to have stock.

Never thought i would live to see the day when $135 for a toothbrush is considered a bargain. I know i would get negged for this but people, stop allowing corporations manipulate you into paying whatever they want you to pay. A toothbrush should NEVER cost $450 to begin with!

I just use a wire brush on my Dremel

    • +3

You got no idea if you don’t think it’s a good price, either still using manual or using the $30 version that doesn’t even compare in power, as for the rrp it’s ridiculous

        • +1

Really? Mine has encouraged an electric brush and flossing for decades.

An example of a study on manual v electric brushing - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3652371/

“The subject group using the powered toothbrush demonstrated clinical and statistical improvement in overall plaque scores. Powered toothbrushes offer an individual the ability to brush the teeth in a way that is optimal in terms of removing plaque and improving gingival health, conferring good brushing technique on all who use them, irrespective of manual dexterity or training.”

          • @eccaz: The journal referred to in your post definitely does show an improvement, however the improvement will be significant in cases where the manual cohort may not have correct technique. As the journal mentions it's improved regardless of manual dexterity or effort in using the tooth brush.
A closer double-blind study should be on cohorts who all have the correct technique of brushing manually against the powered toothbrush.
In this arguements if someone isn't interested in knowing how to properly brush their teeth then powered is the way to go..

I'm saying this knowing my brushing technique isn't great and as such I took the easy way out and also bought an electric.. but good technique manual toothbrush would be as good as electric

            • @maverickjohn: The human hand just can’t compete with the 10,000 oscillations and 48,000 pulsations per minute, all whilst using a far more suitable brush head shape (oral b).

These expensive brushes claim to have a 180 day product guarantee by Oral-B. However it's reported that if you can even manage to initiate a return (manually staff assisted, past their deliberate loss prevention broken application portal), then they are currently simply keeping the returned products whether new and unopened or used.
If that's not enough, then they are claiming to have no funds to fulfill any money back guarantee. Pretty bad for the rank 25 Fortune 500 company.

      • Pay with a credit card.

        • Sure, paying by credit card could help with the trust and keep you safe when dealing with the world's number one trusted toothbrush brand.
Some of their brushes now cost up to $1300 (no joke). With them not honouring the satisfaction guarantee we can expect to see some disgruntled buyers seeking ACL enforcement, and even company fines.

The genius 8500 I bought last month broke on second use. I'm going thru an RMA now.

      Small investment for your teeth.

    • Consider it an investment that reduces the likelihood of requiring expensive dental treatment down the track.

  • Thanks OP picked one up. Nice find.

450 for a toothbrush? What will it exactly, proven, guaranteed do better then any other?

But actually, not just word play, make you feel like this that.

    • "artificial intelligence tracks where you brush and where you miss, giving you personalized feedback, so you never miss a spot"

Does it tell you which teeth has been missed?

Thank you, just purchased it with fast delivery too for only $14.99.

  • Ordered 2, only 1 available. Cancelled and reordered at another location.

I find most oral-b electric brushes have rubber edges and corners for esthetics, which attract mold over time. It's a tempting deal but wondering if there is an electric toothbrush that has no rubber edges…

    • You don’t rinse your brush after brushing?

I’ve been using oral-b electric brushes since the 90’s, and have never had mold or toothpaste build up, because I rinse with water for 3 seconds after brushing.

    • +1

Yep from personal experience owning 3 toothbrushes over the years I can confirm, This is a design flaw that needs to be fixed, but it doesn't look like they're interested. Even after rinsing gunk and mould accumulate over time due to bacteria growth from saliva.

This brand supports the illugal occupation of Palestnian lands.

    • You might want to give up you IPhone as well as Apple support Israel.

Besides a better battery, is this really THAT much better than the cheapest ($19) Oral B electric toothbrush which also has a 2 minute timer?

  • I've been wanting one with a charging case so I can take it on longer trips, seems like a decent deal. But I also can't find it anywhere near me. 'Low stock online' and no stores anywhere near me (Melbourne) have any in stock.

  • Chemist warehouse is useless. They’ll cancel your order

  • I don't know the difference between this model and other cheaper models. Maybe better battery or timer? … but they use same brushes.

  • thanks OP. i ordered this one and hope it's good.
