I'm still trying to work out how to go from Deluxe to Essential at 30% off though..
If you figure it out, please report back. I'm currently Deluxe, but set my account to downgrade to Extra a while ago. It expires next year, but I don't seem to be able to select an option to purchase another 12 months at Extra, only Deluxe, and for full price ($196.95)…
Same. No option to downgrade from Deluxe to any lower tier, unless you pay full price. Even with the black friday subscription deals it was giving issues, sometimes coming up with error just to try click on the deal. Im just gona let it run out. Last few months the PS Plus range has really gone downhill with games available and the ones deleted from catalogue

My Extras sub expires on 23/12. Even if I choose Deluxe, it's only offering me $0.81c to upgrade for the next couple of weeks, then boots me back to $196.95. :/

No I think it's still the case. I have PS plus deluxe on my account and I just logged in via my wife's PSN account in dragon ball fighterz
You can treat the console as primary on the second account and then all users on the console will have the benefits of the PS plus catalogue
Yes, the benefits extend to all accounts on console. I pay for plus and my kids with their accounts can play online and play the free games I claim monthly.
What a rort - not only did they increase the prices but the essentials tier has been hot garbage lately.
Sony really screwing its user base, first with the Discovery news (they should have had a better contract in place with WB to prevent them just pulling film/tv titles people paid for), and now with garbage prices for PS Plus.

Just cancelled my membership which ended on 9/12 then thought “oh well they’ll never reduce it” and here we are with $59 saving on top of the PS Amazon card bonus cash deal so it ended up being a decent deal. Winner.

during the black friday deals (which im still getting emails so not sure how long the companies think black friday last but anyways) when you bought a $100 gift card on amazon, they gave you an extra $15 gift card 24 hours later for use, so i bought $100 PS plus and then another $15 PS Plus and topped up my account so was basicly $115 for $100.

My deluxe lapsed a couple weeks ago and is showing that I am eligible for the 30% off on Extra and Deluxe plans.
During their black friday sale I was ineligible for a deluxe membership 30% discount, despite my subscription having already expired.
To get the discount, I subscribed to 12 months of essential and then immediately cancelled/refunded the purchase. After this, their algo determined I was eligible.

If you are definitely planning on playing online games that don't have free online for more than 8 months of the year then this deal is a decent option now, 50% is rare - if it ever happens.

But the games are cheaper on launch… picked up Super Mario Wonder for $61 on launch week… PS5 first party games launching at $109 this generation and rarely going on sale as well…
@Sidog: Like what? God of war wagnorok was $49 recently. They come down in price greatly, unlike switch which will still be near rrp even if they are old.
Zelda is still over $60 even though the new one is coming out very soon.
Game pass ultimate on Xbox is a tons better deal (if you use the OzBargain hack to get it for pretty cheap for 3 years). I have both Xbox and PS and stopped my PlayStation subscription because of Sony price hikes and limited value. IMO Sony's value nowadays is their first party exclusives that are generally single player only anyway (which doesn't need any subscription). I also think it's generally a joke these days that both Xbox and Sony charge for online multiplayer.
That hack is like posted once a year now.. not the easiest to get.

With no basic plan sale sony are pricing themselves out of the market for casual player. This is basically 100% more than sales last year.
No more PS+ and online gaming for me after the price hike. Just offline gaming, and it's more than enough for me. No more extra catalog; I only have two discs on hand right now, but it's so much fun when you have limited games. You enjoy them to the fullest. I'm playing Witcher 3 again and going for 100% completion this time. Then, I have Cyberpunk on the list, so there's plenty of gaming time. All thanks to Sony for increasing prices, which made me quit Extra Subscription, and I'm no longer looking back at Essential as well.
Yeah same, stuff Sony. No discounts on the Essential plan this year means I'm done, don't play online with the boys enough on PS5 to bother with it, the value is too poor. I'll just stick to finishing the singleplayer games, won't sub to PS+ again until GTA 6

Subbed with Deluxe until late next year, if there was a sale for deluxe I'd top up the subscription. But even I (money is no object, FOMO) am baulking at the current price lol
Probably wouldn't resubscribe to the same tier, could live without multiplayer (essentially just concentrating on MK and Rocket League at this time).
But the game catalog has been handy, starti g with Stray and Demons Souls I've played and finished MANY titles that I was interested in…. but not interested in paying $$$ for. So in tht respect the subscription has been worth it

My essentials subscription ended on 8/12. As a long term subscriber I’m bitterly disappointed like many others with these price increases. I decided to cancel my subscription hoping a discount will apply and it doesn’t apply to essential package. What a way to get shafted!
