Wise/Revolut to Replace 28 Degree Card?

My primary use for the 28 Degrees card is for YouTube Premium, occasional shopping on US/UK/EU sites, and making overseas credit card purchases.
Can I use Wise/Revolut instead? My initial idea is to streamline by eliminating one credit card and avoiding concerns about missed repayments. Is there anything I might be overlooking by doing this?

  • How long have you had 28D? Do you ahve their shoppers protection insurance? If so keep the card but minimise the credit limit

    • maybe 4-5 years? not sure about the shoppers protection insurance but I don't think I need it.
the credit limit is $2000, which is enough for 7 days trip for me.

  • I don’t have a 28D card, but I do have a Wise account with debit card, which I mainly use for international shopping. The exchange rates are much better than you would get via other credit cards, or if you left it to the site you are buying from to do the conversion.

I also like the fact that I effectively have an “local” bank account in each country, allowing you to be paid or pay from those accounts.

Whether it will work for you depends on how much international buying/money moving you do.

    • So, I need one account/currency for Pakistan (YouTube Premium) and should deposit and convert enough foreign currency into the card before I travel.
If I have multiple currencies under the account (e.g., AUD, JPY, SGD, VND, USD, etc.), will it charge the local currency instead of AUD?

You don’t need to convert money in advance, but I usually do.

All of your money sits in one account, but in different currency “buckets”. The important thing to remember is to make sure the international site you are buying from charges you in their local currency, so the currency conversion is done by Wise, not the site or some other intermediary.

It has been working really well for me.

  • Why wouldn't you create a calendar event that reminds you to pay your card before the due date?

I put mine in recurring forever and when I get notified of the new statement I just modify the next event to include the dollars required.

It's pretty easy to stay on top of this stuff.

    • While routine payments aren't challenging, I have missed them 1-2 times in the last 4-5 years. Additionally, I aim to minimize credit card debt.

  • Can someone with a WISE card please let me know, can I make virtual cards with WISE and how many I can make in a month or is it unlimited?

Can I use it on Doordash? Thanks.
