Sony WH-1000XM5 Noise Cancelling Headphones - Black $420 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ The Good Guys

250

Just saw this deal on today, and saw that it ends on 13th.

Managed to get a sweet deal in JB Hi-Fi, dropping them to $378, by price-matching with the Good Guys and using the Wicked Wednesday 10% off coupon code (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/wicked-wednesday).

I saw that the Good Guys eBay store deal which is priced the same, so not sure if this is needed/a duplicate, but nevertheless thought I'd share my experience - the JB Hi-Fi 10% off was the sweetener for me.

Is it worth it, funny the XM4s review better?

The loss of folding is a big neg for me. Xm4's fold up nicely for transport where the xm5's dont. Sound/NC is an iterative upgrade so wont blow you away. Worth considering anyway, but both are great.

    • Only just got home haha, so haven't yet had the chance to try them out yet. I think reviews can vary on who you ask, a lot of people like the XM4's ability to fold up which is good for travel, but for me I don't require the absolute saving in terms of space so these were good.

I actually originally had a pair of B&W PX7 S2es which I returned - the sound of them were really, really good, probably better than at least stock XM5 sound from when I remember trying both out, but unfortunately, they made the back of my jaw feel somewhat uncomfortable after wearing them for a while, despite trying different adjustments and positions on the head. The XM5s always felt very comfortable when I tried them on in store - super lightweight, and I've heard their sound might be able to be by EQing, so I felt I was willing to give that a shot.

  • Was deciding between these and the Bose Quietcomfort Ultra Headphones.

Went with the Bose as they were much more comfortable as the ear pads didn't sit against my ears. The Bose is also on sale from Good Guys and with Student beans you can get them for $479, if you don't have student beans then you can still get them for 494 after clicking the price check link.

    • As low as $449 at JB for the Bose Ultra Headphones

      • Cheapest I saw for JB was the deal for 549, didn't know they went lower unless it wasn't on ozbargain.

        • TGG and Amazon has it for $499

  • ”This or XM4?”

XM4s are hard to beat, that's why Sony struggled making the XM5s better I reckon.
