  • Why this and not an atx case?

    • If you have multiple pieces of rack gear and want all pieces neatly in a dedicated space. Maybe a/v gear, network gear, or similar.

If you're using for a server with racked network switches etc

Options for storage/travel cases with rack cases.

I'm sure there's more uses out there

      • +1

But you would still buy an ATX case and just lay it on its side on a shelf in your rack.
For $457 this has bonkers limitations like only 2 X 3.5" drive bays ?!

        • Not if it needs to be secured or moved?

          Definitely pros and cons.

          • +2

@snoopydoop: Yeah I'm not saying there is no place for rack mount cases - obviously there is. But this one is expensive and weird.
If my use case was fitting a taller 40xx card then I would definately be using a gaming tower case on it's side. For storage I use a Rosewill 4500.

            • @Nom: I guess I can imagine someone working with video or 3D who needs to move sites with it often could want this cased up?

I've been thinking about something like a Rosewill eventually for my plex server! Looks good.
