The Go to Home Security Camera?

Finally looking to get myself some security cameras around my property (4 would be more than enough),

It seems Reolink is the most popular here but I've also had family recommend "HiLook" and "Swann".

I'm guessing there shouldn't be too much difference between these brands at each price point and should just keep a look out for a sale on any, I'd love the ease of a wireless but many people saying battery life or aesthetic of a solar powered panel are downsides.

I don't necessarily need the highest quality images and the distance range would only need to be a couple metres, would love to keep the price under $500

I could pick up some for 70/80$ at the moment from umart. Do i then need to get their DVR box thats like $300 by itself aswell?

It does make it easier for recordings… But not absolutely necessary.

There are often sales on reolink 'packages' on their ebay and amazon stores, so check there too.

          • @jv: What is the markdown on reolink package when on sale?

Been through about 3 camera systems Eufy, Ring and Arlo all were average. Now I'm onto the Reolink PoE and wish I did earlier, excellent system.

      • Did you get their NVR box aswell? Im happy to pay around $80 for each camera. But didnt expect to have to pay so much for the box

  • Dahua
    Hikvision
    Reolink
    Eufy

    would be my pick

    • This. except REolink.

If your going to do it, don't go cheap..

Pointless spending $ if you cant clearly see what you need to see.

I laugh when they show photos of a black blur on the news "have you seen this man"… could be any of 28 million people.

  • If you're into low-cost, consider Wyze Cam Outdoor v2, though I note currently nil stock via Wyze Global store

  • Avoid REOLINK though.

    • Any reasons? Everyone seems to suggest them, youtube review videos seem to be generally positive aswell

        ipcamtalk.com

        Have a look there.

Things may have changed though; Or maybe it doesn't matter anymore.

  • @JimmyJohnson
    What did you do?
    .

    • Waiting on the Reolink sale for the 4 cameras plus recording box, i missed the one in december so hopefully get the next one.

Im not in a huge rush so dont mind the wait, ive also got family that will do all the install / wiring for me so no need to consider wireless ones.

Reolink seems to be pretty positively reviewed here and on the YouTube videos I've watched.
