This is an over the air software update, way to FUD.

Second Tuesday of every month, Microsoft recalls over 1 billion windows PCs :)

    • It's an industry term to mean there is a safety issue that is to be rectified by the manufacturer. 'Recall' is antiquated but the key term is 'safety issue'

Calling a product autopilot and blaming customers for thinking the car will drive itself, typical Elon.

    • The agency said its investigation found Autopilot's method of making sure drivers were paying attention could be inadequate and could lead to "foreseeable misuse of the system".

It sounds like users were working around safety measures.

Product/feature names aren't always accurate. This is on the consumer to learn about product capabilities.

Secure Parking as an example - from their terms:

The use of the word ‘Secure’ in our name and logo does not express or imply any warranty about the security of the Car Park.

      • But we are talking about the good ol' U.S of 'Murica, the home of stating the obvious and litigation.

      • It is common to see people reading books, watching shows on ipads and other things while driving down the freeway in California.

        • The amount of videos of people asleep in their Tesla on interstate roads in the US is crazy.

There is a video of a copper driving along side a dude asleep in a Tesla for miles before the copper can wake the guy to pull him over and the guy is still oblivious to why he was even pulled over.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Wait, so… all this time you thought aeroplanes where flying themselves around the world without humans in the cockpit?

You didn't realise "autopilot" has always been a kind of smart cruise control? Much like… Tesla Autopilot?

Also in the news over the past 1-2 months:

Toyota recalling 1.8m vehicles in the USA: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/recalls/2023/11/01…

Hyundai and Kia recalling 3.3m vehicles in the USA: https://www.nhtsa.gov/press-releases/consumer-alert-kia-and-…

Ford and Mercedes Benz recall in the USA: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/recalls/2023/10/16…

Car recalls happen literally all the fcuking time, why is it such a big deal when it's Tesla? FWIW, I don't drive a Tesla, don't have any investment in the brand, but I just find the abject polarisation completely stupid on both the fanboys and the haters - it's just a bloody car, like the other billions of cars on the road around the world.

The difference is the CEO is a racist nazi (profanity).

How dare you speak of of Sato-san in such a manner!

I don't care much either way, but that is the answer. His Twattering is the reason people hate him and everything connected to him.

    • Come on man, there's an obvious difference here.

Those cars all had to go back to a dealer or factory and be fixed. Their owners were without a car for days.

The Tesla "recall" was an over-the-air software update that happened overnight. Their owners didn't even notice.

          Stüff Turkeys !!!

    • An embarressment to own

An iPhone product too? As they do updates to fix 'issues'…..

An Android product too? As they do updates to fix 'issues'…..

An Windows product too? As they do updates to fix 'issues'…..

An Max OS product too? As they do updates to fix 'issues'…..

An Linux product too? As they do updates to fix 'issues'…..

This fix is because users ignored the nag, so they the 'fix' is to increase the nagging.

    • I'd prefer that the CEO wasn't such a blowhard but the Model Y is legitimately a good car.

    Just a software update though.

Tesla will never solve the FSD though just vision using the current hardware though. They have been beta since 2016 ish. How long does beta software testers test it for?

It has been great for goons who just drive their FSD and upload to youtube for a living though.

  • Tesla sniffers would be fuming

I wonder what excuses they’ll come up with next?
