Pokemon TCG at EB games is always over priced but these work out to be cheaper than anywhere else.
You won't find individual booster packs any cheaper than $4 each. Stack with the free Uber delivery until 24th December for maximum wins.

    If you intend on actually playing the TCG then a deck would be worthwhile, however not required. The majority of people buy these cards with no intention on playing the game (myself included).

        How many people who buy performance cars actually intend on doing a track day?
        Same premise, some people just like collecting shiny (or fast) things.

        Weirdly, pokemon cards fall into 3 different catagories:

        1) tcg players
        2) card collector
        3) speculators/investor

        For card collectors, its fun opening booster packs or trying to complete a series. Opening boosters gives a nice dopamine hit.

        But deck building is very different from collecting a particular series and its very costly to do both.

          that's about 99% of people who purchase the cards :P

            @djones145: True, forgot about the parents that get it for kids but I doubt they account to anywhere near that amount in terms of % of people or sales. In terms of sales, probably 20% at most. It's crazy how much 1, 2 & 3 spend in comparison.

            Few booster boxes (36 booster packs) 8+ ETB, 4 UPC for just one series alone (approximately $2k+)

    Just adding to what aplhas said:

    It is almost always cheaper to buy singles (individual cards) from local gameshop or eBay than through booster packs.

    If you intend to play, make sure you have someone to play with irl or you can play online on tcg live. The game will give you around 8 pretty decent starter decks.

    Starter decks from stores tend to not be tournament worthy. If you are playing casual with someone, starter decks are good.

    If you intend to go tournaments, then you'll probably need to invest in a meta decks and they can cost between $60 -$200 by visiting local shops or ebay.

    Meta will change pretty frequently so expect to update your deck(s) every 3 months with a new series release. Cards will go out of rotation, you can check this with regulation marks on the bottom left corner. Currently, you can play with cards up to E or above. A-D are out of rotation. E is expected to go out of rotation sometime next year

  I ended up getting 10 packs. They only just made it in the 90 min delivery window, but saved me doing a click and collect.

  Won't know what the pulls are till I get home from work.

  Is anyone else kinda sus that the packs are just taken straight out of the booster box? Like without the paper package, scared it might be weighed

    If it makes you feel any better I pulled the magikarp out of my first pack that was just straight out of their loose packs. I don’t think there is any incentive for them to have weighed packs. It’s just clearing excess stock

    Cheaper than buying booster boxes atm anyway. I dont't think you can weight them anymore because of the added variable weight code cards.
