Good luck not having your order stolen/"lost". I bet EB will tell you to contact Uber and Uber will tell you to contact EB.

If you do roll the dice, I'd pay with PayPal for easy disputes.

Never heard of any issues with their prior free Uber delivery or the similar JB Hifi/Uber or Officeworks/Doordash deal, but you enjoy making up hypothetical situations.

Ah, the classic "My perspective is fact, and anyone who disagrees with me is a _______"

Not at all. Open to other opinions.

If anyone is having the attitude you are describing, it is the clowns voting down without commenting any counter arguments. "I don't like what he's saying so let's just neg them".

I sure hope you havent posted any deals from companies with a lack of regard for workers rights, like Activision, Amazon, Apple, etc. That would be really embarassing for you.

Instead of either using an actual trust worthy courier/post company or using their own staff for deliveries, they're using the scumbag Uber company who don't use employees, rather underpaid gig workers.

You do realise that every courier company in the country essentially runs as a network of contractors and subcontractors and that the guy at the bottom of the chain who actually brings you your parcel is almost certainly an independent contractor and not an employee?

I'm not excusing this by the way, just pointing out that if workers' rights are your things then Uber isn't really any worse than more established courier networks.

        • You'd better stop using Australia Post then, pretty much every parcel delivery guy is contractor paid at a by the parcel rate, not even by time

        • Haven’t negged you but yes I’m ‘yuppie’ or even ‘muppie’ who uses uber. The thing I think a lot of people are missing with uber vs a courier or the standard Woolies delivery is that it’s an on demand service rather than an order. I would go as far as saying it’s not really designed to be used when you’re not there to receive the delivery. The way I use Uber, Milkrun etc is basically to take advantage of deals. When I get good deals I can avoid a trip to the shop for groceries or take away or have a night off cooking. This means more time with my kid. I can be in the pool with him having a lovely time and then it’s sorted. Uber driver gets paid, Woolies or restaurant gets business they might not have otherwise. This EB games deal is a good one for last minute presents with out having to hit the shops and look for a park and for things that will arrive before Christmas. Uber isn’t perfect but the convenience of on demand delivery is great.

      • You have now. It happened to me

It would leave a bad taste in both my and the drivers mouth if they were to eat my Nintendo Switch games.

      • The cartridge is so small it wouldn't be much of a meal

Depends on the Gigabyte to bite ratio

yup my order got stolen. EB are still "investigating with Uber" It's been a month and still no refund

lol this isn't going to last long, there's no minimum spend. I can get a $5 pair of socks delivered for free.

An even better idea, I live not far from EB Games. I could pick up my own orders and deliver them to myself. Get paid to get random junk!

That's one way to stimulate the gig economy

Thanks OP. Just ordered some minecraft gear for the kids, hoping to get it delivered to my office. Work in South Brisbane 4101 and getting it delivered within 90 minutes for free from the Albert Street store, according to the EB Games website.

    • Update: It's arrived, only took around 15 minutes and all the things I ordered are here. Tipped my driver directly with cash!

      • Tipping them with cash jeopardises their job

        • Didn't know that. Got a verifiable source to back that up? I just had a note on me so I just gave it.

          • +1

@tacos4brekkie: Uber drivers aren't meant to take any money that isn't through the uber app. Look it up on the uber website

        Tipped my driver

Tipping has not place here in Australia.

If you think Uber hasn't paid the person enough for their services, don't use the service.

It shouldn't be up to consumers to prop up big corporations underpaying their workers.

Tipping doesn't help workers. It justifies and normalises workers being exploited.

        • Fair enough! Thanks for educating.

  • Just realised EB Games have overpriced Pokemon packs.. $8 for one is crazy. I guess the buy one get one free temporary deal makes it worth while.

    • EB Games have overpriced 'everything'! Always check Big W / Target first, they'll price match to them too.

    • Utterly nuts. Kmart pokemon cards on sale, even "premium" sets like Crown Zenith, come down and work out to something ridiculous like $3.5 per pack at the end of life.

I remember the days where $5 per pack was the standard, maybe $5.50 at rip-off merchants like EB. Now we're got EB upping to 8, close to the $10 standard of the "premium" sets.

We truly live in a society.

  • Just ordered 6 paldea booster packs for $24 delivered.. see how it goes!

  • Be warned. Some items will say out of stock at my local EB Games but then you can still pay for it and get it delivered through uber? Not too sure what would happen if you confirm the order

  • Thanks bought some random junk for presents!

  • 20 minutes from order placement until I had it in my hand

  • How does price matching work

  • So, invest in GME again right?

  • Has this expired? Wasnt working for me near inner city

    • Worked for me in Sydney metro this arvo, so it's probably stock or distance/suburb failing for you?

(Also hehe at the receipt, they're apparently paying online orders with gift cards?)

  • I'm 10 minutes' drive out of Perth, but they don't offer it to me. Shame.

  • Finally a game in stock near my in laws but it has no uber option, but other stuff does? :(
