Would be a nice little Christmas gift for myself, but I’m really tossing this up versus the A7C R, which is even smaller and better specced.

Big downside is not having Fujifilm colours and processing… which is just so so magical.

I wish they made a XT-50 already. That’d be an instant buy. Cmon Fujifilm. All I want is IBIS and it’s an instant buy.

    • a7cr is almost double the price of this isn't it? They're also just very different cameras, the sony focuses on resolution and this camera focuses on speed since its cropped it can just be way faster at burst and readout.

    • Do you just shoot sooc?

You must already have a camera system if you're looking at those two bodies, surely? If you're itching for a new body just stick to the system you already have lenses for.

Specs are a wank anyway*, you can make stunning A0 prints with 16mp if you had good enough glass in front of the sensor, and the manufacturers will act as though these two cameras are obsolete in a year or two when their new models come out anyway, its a joke.

*for stills at least, if you want a hybrid mirrorless camera for serious video use you defintely want the best codecs that you can get and in terms of what's available out there things have advanced a hell of a lot the last few years.

    • So true.
I love my X-T30, but Fujifilm refusing to add new film sims to that camera's firmware (and especially re-releasing the SAME camera - X-T30 II - with those film sims) is a dick move.
I know they've never done that to the older models, but still…
X-T50 would be very nice to get.

  • do i need to purchase another lens for this or is this fine alone for taking photos?

    • +1

Yeah you'll need a lens to go with it

If you need to ask if it needs a lens then it's probably not the right camera (system) for you, though

If you're keen on getting into photography, I mean really getting into the nuts and bolts, this is a great camera for it. The ability to use physical manual controls can make it more like a vintage film camera to use, and it's a good way to learn exposure (if you shoot manual).

You will need a lens, yes. If you're used to phones for photos, then one of the 18mm lenses would probably suit you, or just get a normal zoom if you prefer.

It's a fair bit to spend if you're new to it though, and may or may not find it an enjoyable hobby.

  • Wow that camera looks more old fashioned that the Canon my dad bought in 1989.

It's been this price for a while now and if all the retailers have it at that price then it's not a deal

  • We need Fuji to release a camera with computational photography than that will be an instant buy. Combine fuji film profiles and with all the adjustments done for you like a flagship smartphone camera.

I would hope that a small item valued at $2300+ would come with free shipping.

Not to mention it hardly worth $2300. I feel sorry for people who purchase this at 3K plus at launch….

  • What the [profanity] happened to Fujifilm? I know about the supply chain issues but its been a while & a lot of companies have atleast partially fixed their problems. X100Vs cost $3.5k if you want one in stock or wait for 6 months and pay $2.4k. Even the XT30ii has disappeared not in stock. The X-E4 has been discontinued. The X-Pro3 has disappeared. Fujifilm releasing a new camera was exciting for about 2 seconds until they released the X-S20 at the same cost as the XT5. What are they smoking in their pricing department? They've also stopped following their Kaizen principle where they continued supporting their older cameras through firmware updates. I love Fujifilm as a company but they're in a downward spiral. Its sad because they're so unique compared to other manufacturers.

  • Camera-Warehouse still has a black in stock, but everywhere else is OOS at the moment.

  • Picked it up last week from Amazon, great camera and it looks great in the silver.
