  I know Hue is like the Apple of smart lights, but damn, $81 on sale price for a 2m strip of lights is one step away from criminal. I suppose it is reliable compared to cheaper brands, but still…

      Yep. Having to f*** around with the software, power-cycle, troubleshoot connectivity issues… this is not something I want to have to do with my lights. While there might be a cheap solution that works reliably once setup right it'll still be an effort to get to that point and for most people it's just not a price they're willing to pay in time/energy.
