Fat Bastard Chardonnay 6 Bottles $68 (In-Store), $67.50 + Del (Online) (Was $132) @ Liquorland

590
XMAS10

Receipt Fat Bastard Chardonnay is one of my go to favourites. Big butter flavour without being overwhelming.

This deal has the touch of Bistromath about it.

The Fat Bastard Chardonnay is currently listed online for $22.

However, if you go in store they are selling it for $25 for two. Coles is also running a $7 off for spending more than $70 when using you Flybuys card. So six bottles of wine will cost $75, which reduces down to $68 once the $7 off is applied. The Flybuys applies in store only.

But wait there is more.

If you go to the online store they say they are having a 10% off discount with XMAS10 for selected wines. For the Fat Bastard Chardonnay if you select the six bottles the checkout price becomes $75 and if you apply XMAS10 it goes down to $67.50. Then you can click and collect for free.

If you are bored you could trundle down to your local Liquorland and see if your favourite wine has been, similarly, discounted or go online and try a few wines in multiple of twos to see if this magically applies as well.

its a safe go to for a chardy

But kind of amazing we import american wine given the quality of our chardonnay varieties here.

    • The nature of import/export. Australia is an interesting wine producer because our wine is based around the grape varieties rather than the regions.

      • How many grams of carbon to move those bottles from there to here?

        • That applies to a lot of things. I offset this by barely driving my car and having solar panels on the roof.

          • @try2bhelpful: I reckon one day we'll invent emission free cargo ships and trucks. We'll have to, climate change catastrophe seems inevitable.

            • @AustriaBargain: As long as we don’t runout of runway in the meantime.

The key is battery technology. It will come down to evening out generation and usage.

One thing we learnt from our panels it is we won’t need a huge amount of storage to cover evening out our own power requirements. We have been holding out for the EV as battery but getting a smaller stand alone unit is beginning to become viable.

Shipping in bulk and bottling in the destination would make more sense from a footprint perspective.

            • @AustriaBargain: Perhaps one day they'll invent ships that are powered by the wind.

@try2bhelpful: Tell that to the kids working in the mines in Africa.

Climate change is real. So is white veganism.

            • @BlackMamba666: Climate change is certainly real. Continuing with fossil fuels isn’t helping. We need an alternative.

    • Why? I want to try wines from all around the world, I'd be disappointed if we could only buy Australian wines, even though they are mostly very good.
The USA also import a lot of wines from Australia and they make a lot wine, just like us, should we tell them not to buy our wines?
That's how healthy import and export trade works.

Many years ago we went to a Costplus in San Francisco and they had several varieties of Penfolds wines, not including the Grange, and they were all the same price. We grabbed a few bottles of the 389 and had a great few days. Knowing a bit about what you are buying, certainly, helps. It might’ve helped them if they knew what they were selling.

        • Ah yes, I've had plenty of Australian reds in LA and New York, they are quite easy to find.
Some of the more boutique wine stores are quite knowledgeable :)
