Have just noticed this on the app and haven't seen it posted here. Quest 3 activation referrals have been upsized to $94 from 7 Dec to 7 Jan. Great for any new users getting a Quest 3 for Christmas.

  I may try adding Firefox on my phone but why is this even an issue. As tried so much time’s trying to get up a meta account I have no idea what’s going on with referrals now.
  She has her meta account if that makes sense as we did the email password part and got code to get on it, but I’m sure part of the process and I believe completing it involves horizon name and username.

  How do you know referral works or maybe been used not used to doing referral but honest never had such carry on to set up an account and have no idea if referral will even work if I get it to all work.

    After you have set up the Meta account you can click on the referral again to make sure it has worked

            @bwatt72: Try creating a new Gmail account and use that to create a new Meta account and Horizon profile on a PC. Use the new Meta account to accept a referral and then make sure you use that new Meta account to activate the Quest 3.

              Then I set up headset which you mean by activation of quests 3.

              It will be a pain in the butt as I will probably have to set the lenses to my eyes and adjust the front so on face securely and set the head straps.

              It’s a shame I can’t hold the thing to my face temporarily to select a few things and I’m done, as once I do put it on my head I need to set it up for my daughter to fit her head.
              And I believe headset needs to be on to set that part up, shame it could not be set up from app and all I did was set up headset to daughters head and she ready to go.

              Is it correct that the referral I just accepted now is mine or until I complete headset part or I have a set time to use this.
              I was told you don’t get the referral for another 7 days is this correct?

              As I was hoping to set this up tonight I mean add app to wife phone and set up headset and on the 1st jan or 2nd January as i believe it be end of 2nd January games sale ends. To use this towards some cheaper gsmes.
              Is it just games you can’t use their referral cash credit on or other accessories not that I get Mets accessories as they cost an arm and leg and there is cheaper maybe better accessories third party out there.

              Any tips on essential accessories for the q3 I was hearing protecting the lens was important a must when not in use.

              Obviously other accessories will come along for daughter over time even something to keep it in away from younger brother.

              I just put headset in a silk pillow case and put it in a swim bag will not protect from damage from dropping it or knocks but it will save it be scratched etc.

                @bwatt72: After you accept the referral you have a few days within which you need to set up the Quest 3. You should get the credit as soon as you activate the Quest 3. After activating the Quest 3 you open the mobile app then click Menu then click on the referral banner and there should be a button to redeem the credit.

                Store credit can only be used for games and apps.

                I got a third-party headstrap and facial interface to improve comfort but let your daughter try the original ones first and see if they work for her, it all depends on the user's head shape.

                Make sure sunlight never hits the Quest 3 lenses/screens. The big lenses that you look through can act like magnifying glasses when sunlight hits them, and this can burn spots into the screen. So make sure your daughter puts a cover on the lenses or puts it in a case after use or at least face the lenses/screens away from windows.

                  Nothing stopping me putting on headset now but then I may need wife to be around to give me code to get into the account.

                  Hopefully there are no further issues as that was hard work just getting past horizon part set up.

                    @bwatt72: You will need to install the app on your wife's phone to activate the Quest 3. (Or install app on your phone but you will need the codes from your wife to log in).

                    For the free game I think you get an email telling you you can redeem Asgard's Wrath 2 and you need to click a link then it should be available to download from the store.

                  You said you get a few days to set up quest 3 headset as I did it yesterday afternoon should still be ok, how does one know I still all good? I did accept the referral yesterday so assuming all is still good. But how do I know for sure?

                  So as I assume that my referral is still active now I need to activate the headset yes? And to do this I need to wear the headset?

                  I just find it possibly a pain in the butt to have to adjust the lens and straps etc etc to set headset up.

                    @bwatt72: Since you accepted the referral yesterday it will work. They allow a few days for people who use a referral and then go out to buy the device or order it online, so you will be well within the time limit.

                    First charge the Quest 3 and then set it up (see the instructions from Meta linked below)

                    Then install the Meta Quest app on your wife's phone and login to the same Meta account that you used to accept the referral.
                    Make sure you have Bluetooth on (on the phone).

                    In the Meta Quest app you press Menu, Devices, then Connect New Device. Select Quest 3 and follow the steps. You will need to put on the headset for some of the steps.

    Check in the app that you are logged in with the same Meta account that you used to accept the referral. Make sure it is not logged in via a Facebook or Instagram account. Logout and login again to make sure

  I went into store wallet and says I have $47 credit?? What happened to the $92? And dated 31st December it’s 1st January unless somewhere in the world is 31st Dec still? So don’t get why I got $47 and not $92

  What should I do use it and complain I never got the $92 or not use it a they somehow give the remaining. I obviously wanted this $92 as that’s what they are offering if gives my daughter an extra game or two.

  But when I expected the referral yesterday this was the amount it said it was $47 so what’s going on. I still need to set up the daughter account and sharing part I was just thinking of getting some cheaper games while I have the credit but it’s lower than it should be and probably by time I contact meta they games sale will be finished.
  I know we are not taking about lots of money but that’s what it says
  How does one complain about there are even members on here who got two sets of $92 credit for each device yet I don’t get it for the first buy

    Contact Meta support and tell them you should have received $94 credit but only got $47. I think you can spend the credit you have now during the sale and they should give you another $47 later.

      And regarding the free game I have started to download the free game but wow it’s 36gb if I remember and it’s happening on the headset and gets a little hot. I take you can’t stop or pause it and continue on the phone with app. Does games need to be downloaded on app or headset as this game I started on the headset will take ages and I feel better on a mobile etc instead

        It has to be downloaded on to the headset. Make sure there is space around the headset for ventilation. Hot air comes out of the front near the top

          So I can use the wife’s phone number as it will be added to her one right and then she is able to share apps to get account.

          We are talking about this is daughters device but set up by mum lol who is admin but has control over daughter use.

                @bwatt72: Yeah I think you only need to sign in the daughter's account on the phone app when you are setting it up, after that you would have the phone app signed in to your wife's account so she can administer it.

                Yes you can just let your daughter use your wife's account but she must never let anyone know she is a child or Meta may suspend the account and ask for ID (they try to enforce people using the correct type of account). So don't let her use voice chat and try to supervise as much as possible.

  Ok I have sent a message to meta but as I said in my wallet it says $47 so yes the referral must have worked but that’s what was displayed when I accepted the referral and that’s what I got which is very weird. I would not get this $47 any other way than a referral and it was through here. If I had logged into different accounts all this setting up etc would not be possible and there would not be any referral you only get $47 or $92 by referral and it seems they did not give me the right amount

        Meta states the referral will expire after 90 days or earlier if it's mentioned in the referral invite:

        "The link expires 90 days from the date sent or any earlier date stated in the invitation. Your friend must be a new Meta Quest user; you may not send referral links to yourself; referral credit can only be applied once to an account with a newly activated Meta Quest device; refurbished devices are excluded from the referral programme."

                @Sr2223: If all else fails, message Customer Support and show them a screenshot of the promotion that you're supposed to get $94. In my experience they'll honor it. I've even had them give me credit when I've had slight issues with the website not showing pages properly.

  I signed up and.registered with this deal, and used a referral link generated from the link generator.

  Although the process appeared to work, the referral credit has not come and I am in a very frustrating email conversation with Meta support.

  If you meta name is Mjenko24, please pm me as you were the referrer and I need some more details to pass on to Meta support. You may have some credit coming….

    If you haven't already, try the mod forum to see if they can see who put that username in the referral page and if they can message that user on your behalf. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/forum/10041

    I remember a post where someone else asked for that in the past, though can't find it in a quick search.

  Off topic - Anyone be able to pm me your Meta Quest account details, just for the referral, requested by the CS? Will have to include first and last name as listed on the account, email address, and username, thanks.
