As someone that's had a Quest 3 from launch. They are bloody awesome! Though all I can really compare it to is a PSVR2. It's WAYYYyy better than that.

    • +1

what do you do with it mostly

      • +11

I mean everything from virtual desktop, to movies. To apps that promote sleep. This week I was fishing in an upside down pond that covered my entire ceiling in mixed reality. Catching fish. They were people's voices from all over the world answering the question of the day. Throw the fish back. Way more relaxing than I thought, as silly as it may sound.

Yesterday I played Asgards Wrath II. I'm older generation and I was going through it knowing nothing with a voice , my internal voice, saying I'd spend 1k+ on this game experience on its one. Before I was a teenager, my parents got me a Commodore 64 and from that day I loved tech, tried to stay as close to cutting edge as is possible. I say all that so I can share what I told my older brother today….this is the single biggest wow device I've experienced in half a century. It might be because I stayed away from VR for years. Samsung Gear a long time back then to see what it does now. Keep in mind it might just be me. The thought of travelling with this device one day is an exciting prospect. I thought my Kickstarter backed NxtWear S XR glasses were good. They are a toy next to this. Though I imagine the Quest 3 will seem like a toy next to the Apple Vision Pro once we get our hands on that.

        • +1

          cool thanks for the response

    • How is it compared to PSVR2? I'm waiting for a working iVRy driver for PC connection.

      • +1

Honestly, I wish I'd never purchased my PSVR2. It was fine initially and still is. But once exposed to the functionality, the passthrough, the elite strap with battery option that doubles it's battery life, the whole idea that an IMAX screen sized movie on a plane is a real option and it's with a tiny footprint when travelling as I have the official meta carry case. I'm banging on about it. I guess other user experiences may vary wildly.

    Thanks pixxelpusher!

Purchased one for my son for Christmas so will use this link when activating.

    • -1

Just make sure you activate it through a new account as it won't work if it's done through an existing account.

You can use your own referral link to refer your son and you should both get the $94! Be great for a game you can both play together.

      • This is wrong. Mine worked perfectly fine with the referral on my existing account that had a Quest 2. I used the referral link, activated my Quest 3 and we both got the credit.

        • Interesting, this is mighty tempting now. Thinking of selling my PSVR2 as it doesn't get a lot of use these days and and getting a Quest 3 in its place

        • +1

I wouldn't count on that working again "Your friend must be a new Meta Quest user" is what it says in the T&Cs

    • +1

I hope Mark Zuckerberg personally tugs himself silly with that information about me. It’s linked to a fake hoaxbook account for me. I know they probably still know who I am but my mobile phone already has half of that information about me anyway.

  • I'm getting one for Xmas, will this mess with the free asgard wrath 2 offer at all?

Also, there are lots of sales on the quest store atm, this credit would bag you a few good games when combined with the sales going on.

    • +1

Not sure if it’ll mess with any other deals, check with their live chat, I found it very helpful the one time I used it.

If you do get the credit, i recommend only spending it during a sale, they’re very frequent.

      • +1

and keep an eye on Canada pricing before buying games (via VPN). Usually cheaper.

        • Good point too.

    • +3

There's a random referral generator included at the top in the post.

      • but it is nice to have more people getting something from it instead of just one person :)

        • Exactly what @pixxelpusher is saying :-)

        • Nah, it’s random so everyone who added their referral code will eventually get their turn. Feel free to use that actually.

          • @kiriakoz: Am confused and perhaps missing your point? I was referring to @luidmarin noting "instead of one person" getting the referral.
The Random generator as per what @pixxelpusher is saying is exactly that. You then say "Nah". What am I missing?

            • @Borg: I had no idea that is how it works the random referral, sorry guys

      • The link isn’t working 🙁

  • Thanks for fixing up my post and adding the random referral link generator!

  • Hmm, activated my Quest 3 on 14 Dec using the referral generator, but only received $47.

    • Did you already have a Meta account? If not I'd contact customer support and point them to the wording on the app that says it's $94 AU / $60 US.

    • That sucks. For ages after other countries updated, the links from AU did not mention quest 3 in the fine print, and it was hard to know if it was excluded on purpose or they forgot to update it.

I swear my app earlier this week said give $47. I saw this and checked and it does now say $94.

You could probably contact Meta support and complain. It would probably help if you dug up the username of the person that referred you, maybe from your browser history.

    • +1

Thanks all, luckily found the referral link in browser history, reached out to Meta support and got the $50 credited :)

  • I just want to do a bit of a reminder to those getting these at Christmas. Don't jump straight into a heavy motion game like asgards wrath 2 and expect to not feel bad motion sickness. Start with more static games like mini golf/table tennis etc and slowly ease into other games.
So many people give up on VR due to motion sickness which really sucks as it's such a good way to play games it just takes some work initially.

  • My daughter is getting q3 for Xmas and can anyone tell me is asgards wrath 2 available already or coming as this is supposed to be free or do we need to claim it?

I was just asking about what I do in regards to the referral for the $47 is this different one or same and it’s just been increased for the holidays.

As someone said does this referral affect the free asgards wrath 2 game we get?

And regarding using this free credit towards games is it a good time to use it on games or best when games are not on sale?
How long is the games sale on for and when does it end.
Is it selected games on sale or all.

Was does the referral still say $47 but post says more?

    • +1

Asgard's Wrath 2 is already out. You claim it after you activate the Quest 3 through an email they send you. Here's what it said on my email: "Asgard's Wrath 2 came included with your new Meta Quest 3, and is ready to redeem. Click the button below to view this offer, and log in to redeem it. Offer expires February 27, 2024."

Referral credit is just increased to $94 for Christmas. Ends Jan 7.

I'd say you also still get Asgards Wrath 2 for free, haven't read anywhere them stopping that. You also get the PC game of Asgards Wrath 1 for free.

Right now is a great time to use it. Meta have sales around most major holidays so Easter, Mid year, Halloween, Black Friday week. But also at other times too and sometimes they just do a game of the week type thing. Current sale ends Jan 2. Discounted games are listed here: https://www.meta.com/en-gb/experiences/section/8797778603355…

It says $94 in the Meta Quest app on the Referrals page.

      • So the referral link of $47 is still the right one it just will not be $47 but $92 correct?

      • That link you gave with discounted games how do I know what orginal prices was if the normal price and sale price is big difference?
I see no prices before and now, as how I see it they could be that price everyday.
How to you even know which ones are a great deal if you don’t know orginal prices.
Is there not a list of best games to worst and reviews obviously being new some might be crap.

        • +1

Should show the percentage off normal price and usually if it's 30%+ off that would be pretty decent for most I would say. Otherwise you can use game/app referrals for 25% off (through Ozb, Reddit, meta-dog etc). Also you can check price history via O'deals I think that's for the US store but should still give you a rough idea about pricing. As for game/app reviews YouTube is probably the best bet.

        • +1

When you login through your account you'll see the original price, the discounted price and the amount discounted.

Reviews are obviously subjective based on the types of things you like. But there's lots of reviews on youtube if you search for a game there. Also each game has ratings and reviews on their game page you can read through.

          • @pixxelpusher: Can you sign up for an account in advance obviously need to do this referral thing and obviously it’s a gift so not opening till Xmas day it’s for daughter.

I suppose when we go through the process of doing referral and setting this up we will see the games and discounts then.

I’m sure I got a link before not sure where I got it from it was listing all games from best review to worst etc can’t remember what other info it had.

            • +1

@bwatt72: Yes you can make a Meta account and then activate the headset to it later through a referral link. Best steps would be:

              1 - Make Meta account.

2 - Sign in to Meta account. Then accept referral link (either use the referral generator above, or if you have one from a friend use that).

3 - Activate the headset. You need to do this through a phone that has the Meta app on it, that will be connected to your account.

There are lots of game lists around but like I mentioned most are very subjective to the person putting it together. I've seen many that list games that I wouldn't rate that high. And there are many games I like that other people don't.

              • @pixxelpusher: Sign in to Meta account. Then accept referral link (either use the referral generator above, or if you have one from a friend use that).

So can you make meta account without opening the quest 3 box and do the referral link anytime? Ie now without it again being opened.

      • Pretty sure they do a sale for Chinese New year as well so not too far away for those waiting for some deals

  • Does the referee have to be a completely new account? I created a new account recently for the free games (with no Quest)

    • To stay safe I'd say yes. Their wording is "Offer is available to new Meta Quest users" so if you already have an account it may not be valid. Best just to make a new account and activate it through that.

    • +2

I think if your account hasn't had a device registered yet it'll still work.
Those who are upgrading their device are creating a separate account to get the credit, then gifting the games (purchased with the credit) to their main account, then factory reset and register device again with main account.

      • Very helpful thanks! The only downside I see is the free 6 month trial of Meta Plus (or whatever it is) would be activated on the new account, right? (Trying to get my head around this in order to get both referral credits!)

    • +1

As long as there is no Quest device linked to the Meta account the referral should work. I had a Meta account for several years for my Oculus Rift. When I upgraded to a Quest 3 I used a referral and it worked.

      • Thanks! Will referrals to purchasing Quest 3 on Amazon works or must it be purchased from meta.com ?

        • +1

Amazon is fine. I bought my Quest 3 from Amazon.

          • @Shitforbrains: Quest 3 128GB on Amazon now is ETA 14 January if ordered today, I suppose that would be too late for activation?

            • +1

@moorey: You will still get the standard $47 credit that is always available. January 7 is the cut off for the Christmas bonus (double credit)

              • @Shitforbrains: Ah, thanks so much for all your answers!

                • +1

@moorey: I ordered mine on 26 December and Amazon showed delivery ETA of 11 Jan, but it was delivered last night, so maybe you’d like to give it a go still!

  • So temping to get the Quest 3 now, but hoping that Boxing Day has a sale on it. Fingers Crossed

    • Honestly I don't see them having a sale on Quest 3 for quite a while, maybe this time next year. Meta were asked if they were going to put it on sale and they replied they had no plans to for now.

  • pull the trigger now then?

  • Anyone know how to contact Meta?

  • When setting up an account for q3 for my daughter no restrictions can she have her name but my date of birth and email or should it be my name.
I will be in charge of what she gets on it.

Obviously she has a free game to receive and when the q3 gets a price drop I may grab myself.

So this has no links to facebook which I think it used to be?
Just an email and date of birth is there some verification to do when setting it up or just entering email etc enough.

  • So I was thinking of setting up accounts for 11 yr old daughter for q3 no restrictions as she is not silly but I was thinking she might not know she is purchasing apps.
She is to get a free game with it and I will check it out but I’m sure she be ok to use it.

But maybe I will want to know what she is up to and don’t want to restrict her to much, and mum or dad might want a go now and again more so me to se if it’s something I buy into if a price drop or I just fancy one.

I was just going to use her name but my date of birth and my email I take that’s maybe not a good idea? As be good to have her name shown when playing if that’s how it works.
Or does it need to be all dad’s details?
Do we have control over what she gets yon it and can she have anything if we agree? But I’m not sure if needs to be my name or ok with her one.

    I noticed this.
Approve or deny the downloading, purchase, or usage of any app
View all the apps your child owns
Manage and view time spent in VR
Set time limits and schedule breaks
    Manage account and privacy settings

Obviously I need to to do retarral and get her the sign up credit to get her some possible games.

I just don’t want to set it up and I can’t set up my own later when I get one but then it’s email related not Facebook like it used to be.

    • I think you should set it up with your email and date of birth, so you will be the admin account that buys games and gets the free Asgard's Wrath 2 game. Then set up your daughter's account as a secondary account. The admin account can share its games to the secondary account.

I think this way is better because I read someone complaining that because they set up the primary account as their child's account they were ineligible to get Asgard's Wrath 2 because of the game's age restriction.

      • Ok so set up in my name, date of birth and email so I can get the free game.

Is it easy enough to add another account with her name and are you saying I can share the free game to her account and anything else I feel is ok for her.

So say I then decide I want a quest 3 maybe drops in price had a little go on her one and liked it what then?
Ok I have loads of emails is there any id to show etc or just the means of signing up with an email.

Obviously I want this to be her device, but yes it’s good to have control over what she can do or even stop buying on it.

So the referral thing will go to me I ask her the games she wants they go on my account obviously as it’s my account but I can share them to her, is she restricted to what I can share to her?
Would hate to get referred and purchase games yrs obviously kid friendly and for some reason was removed but this would not happen as it’s my account.
I just want her to feel it’s all hers but needs to understand she is restricted to play unless i share it and she can’t just grab anything.

Would this not be a pain in the ass if she wanted a free game or demo or say I was away are you notified by txt or email.

I was all along planning to probably get it set up for me but was worried it effect me if I got a device later on.

        • Yeah it is no problem adding her as a secondary account. Just follow these steps:
          https://www.meta.com/en-gb/help/quest/articles/accounts/mult…

Some more explanation of how it works:
          https://www.meta.com/en-gb/help/quest/articles/accounts/mult…

          How to enable app sharing:
          https://www.meta.com/en-gb/help/quest/articles/accounts/mult…

There should be no problems if you get your own device in the future. You can be the admin account on your daughter's device with app sharing enabled while also having your own separate device that just has your account on it.

          • @Shitforbrains: Can this not all be set up over a phone or online etc do you need to wear it to set this all up

            • @bwatt72: You will need to wear the headset to set it up and also use the phone app.

Note that the process of approving access to games for a child account is a bit buggy at the moment, but here are the steps to get it to work:

              • When searching for the app on the Quest, your child will be forced to request permission for the app, even if it is rated E for everyone.
You will get an OS notification on your Quest App saying that your child has requested access to this app. Tap on the OS notification or go to the notifications screen in the Meta Quest app (bell icon at the top of your feed) and tap on it from there.

              • You will be brought to a screen with the name of the app. This screen also has the name of your child with a note underneath it saying "Not allowed" in yellow text and a button below that that says "Review app". The screen also gives you some stats about the app including the price and age rating. Tap on the "Review app" button.

              • The next screen is titled "Allow access to this app?" and it tells you what info will be shared (e.g. username) and has a button to "Allow and purchase" as well as a "Not now" button. Tap the Allow and Purchase button (don't worry it doesn't charge you yet).

              • You're now brought to a screen titled "Complete this purchase for [child's name] in the Meta Quest Store". At the bottom of that screen is a "Go to Store" button. I've found that you can X out of the process flow here or tap on the button. They both bring you to the same place.

              • You're now brought back to the screen from Step 3 above but the note under your child's name has changed to "Allowed to use this app" in green text and the button has changed "Block". You must X out of this screen.

              • When you X out of the previous screen you are now brought to a screen titled "Buy Gift" which seems to be a store screen that opened in the background asking you to purchase the app. It has a go-back navigation arrowhead at the top left of the screen and a "Next" button at the bottom. If you tap the back arrowhead, the purchase is cancelled and you're done.

              • If you hit "Next" it brings you to a screen titled "Confirm Purchase" which is a payment method selection screen. Here again you can tap the arrowhead at the top left to go back or it has buttons at the bottom to "Confirm" or "Cancel" the purchase. I have found that if you cancel the purchase, it works just fine and your child still has access to the app.

              This text is from:
              https://communityforums.atmeta.com/t5/Get-Help/App-sharing-f…

              • @Shitforbrains: Thanks for the info but you need to follow all this just to add or buy an app? You can’t just go on your phone and purchase it?
Are you saying you still have to play around with head set on to get these apps playable?

Aint it easier just to leave the account set up under me and not add kid option as it seems maybe often I will need to be around to sort or add or needed to help out. I may not always be at home if I need to be mum will more at home than me.

That’s a long description on just how to allow a kid to play.

So none of this can be done I mean adding games just with your phone or even setting up to begin with.
I thought this was all set up with a phone and you just then when ready to use headset are ready to go play etc.

Seems a paid in ass myself having it on to do stuff then her etc.

                • @bwatt72: Adding apps and approving them can be done on the phone app.

It is just the initial set up of new accounts and app sharing that requires you to use the headset.

If you trust your daughter then yeah you can just set up your account and let her play using that.

On the whirlpool forums people are saying the child meta accounts for 10-12 year olds don't work very well and they eventually just set up a 13+ year old account for the child to avoid the hassle: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/3yklvkk3?p=485#r73682…

                  • @Shitforbrains: Do we really need to set up the over 13+ account it seems just easier and less hassle to set it up on my name and details and let her use it.
She is pretty sensible and comes across older than she actually is.
I suppose there be restrictions again on over 13 years.
What would the advantage of using the over 13yrs old account over just using mine.
Obviously stops kids buying apps etc

But I will know right what she has played and taken part of if using my account as it will be my account after all?

Only thing she might not have her presence on the game etc. honest going forward not sure what to do

                    • @bwatt72: For now I think it is fine to just let her play on your account but in the future if you have your own headset you would want to each be using your own accounts so you could play multiplayer games together.

Also I've heard there are creeps out there on multiplayer or social games and apps so some supervision while she is playing certain things might be a good idea.

                      • @Shitforbrains: But how does one supervise when she is using my account I don’t see what she does with mask on.
And if or when I do get one I suppose I used use another email if mine but then does it not go by phone number as well.

On what I read on whirlpool maybe best just set up on my name and let her use it like that.
As seems to many issues with problems using the kids set up

                        • @bwatt72: You can cast the Quest display to your phone so you can see what she sees.

About the other question regarding making separate accounts on the future, I'm not sure if you'll need another phone number for another account. Meta does say this:

Note: Only one Meta account can be logged in to the Meta Quest mobile app at a time. If you are using one mobile phone for multiple accounts, you will need to log out of the app before adding additional accounts.

                          • @Shitforbrains: Ok I just need to get this set up for daughter, she got it for Xmas she is not scream for it yet.
Who know I might never get one but I can see me liking this sort of thing.
Unless I got wife to set up for her

                          • @Shitforbrains: What’s this all about im getting so much mixed info it’s starting to do my head in.

                            Is this old:
                            https://www.meta.com/en-gb/blog/quest/gather-your-party-intr…

I can set it up as if it was for me but it’s daughter device. But I may want my own one day.
Or I get wife to set it up as she says she probably never use or need one again as her own but for daughter.

Or we share apps to her but one of us adults are in charge but I thought there was some issues with this you previously posted

                            • @bwatt72: That link is from Feb 2021 when they first introduced multiple accounts and app sharing but yeah most of the info is still correct.

Also the minimum age used to be 13, but they recently added child accounts for ages 10 to 12. People have reported some problems with approving games for these new 10 to 12 year old child accounts. Someone on whirlpool said they made their child a meta account with the date of birth set to make them over 13 years old to avoid the problems.

Start off by making an adult's Meta account under your name or your wife's name. Use a device referral link to get the $94 store credit and also claim the free Asgard's Wrath 2 game. Then add an additional account for your daughter and check if you can get the game sharing working. If it doesn't work then just let her play on the adult account with supervision.

                              • @Shitforbrains: Sounds like a plan what she is the Asgard's Wrath 2 game, as nobody will probably use this apart from her I might to experience it and if something I buy into later.
But even making her over 13 years probably restricts her still on games. But then as a parent you need to draw the line what maybe she can’t watch.

God as a kid my parents used to go to vhs store to grab three films and was supposed to get three films one for each of us. I would be kids one, father western snd mother horror.
Our viewing consisted of watch three horrors on that Sunday lol.
                                And probably back then uncut.
And lol i turned out alright.

But even if we add the additional account and have issues with the games she is still able to use ours either myself or mum whoever sets it up.

After all it’s for xmas gift and I want her to experience it best it can.
But I think I do what you said

                                • @bwatt72: Another thing to consider, Meta doesn't want children below 13 to be using an adult's Meta account, so if your child is using your account it is important that they do not reveal to anyone that they are a child. Better not use voice chat at all.

If they think a child has been using an adult Meta account they may suspend the account and ask for identity documents like what happened to this person https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/s/RhtF9jbd7i

  • Make sure you use a device referral link and create the Meta account before you activate the new Quest 3

    • What do you mean use a device referral link? There is on on here the op added which I use.
I think the other is just info from meta.

The plan was to set up on my account but doing so will mess up if I needed one for myself later ie own a quest 3 myself.

Not only that I maybe working away mostly and this might be an issue if kids needs to do something or monitor as I not always be able to.

I think wife would be best to be the account holder and will be more around her or be able to deal with stuff even keep an eye on her.
I would love to be involved which i normally am but it just might not work being away a bit and if I wanted to buy a headset for myself.

At least with mum with help of me can set mum up she gets that game for free which kid will not probably get, if we feel it’s not that bad they we can’t let her play. But I believe it’s an 18.
So dad can use that game try it out and mum if she wishes.

We will open an Account for the headset for 13yrs which obviously will restrict her anything rated above that.
But least that way we can monitor her etc.

If say I do get one probably not anytime soon but when I do as this device is my daughter’s but set up and controlled by mum can mum share her stuff to me and I to her.

I can see daughter not being to happy as she likes everything to be just for her but on this occasion we need to sept this up with an adult in mind. And best it be mum am sure there be loads of stuff she be right into and there is probably a lot of stuff she should not really play at this time.

      • Yes that sounds reasonable.

The device referral link is in the OP, where it says:

        REFERRAL LINKS
        Edit
        Referral: random (399)
$47 in Meta Store credit each for referrer and referee.

You click on "random" then it will give you a referral link from a random Ozbargainer, then to accept the referral you create the Meta account. Then you install the Meta Quest app on your phone and log in with the Meta account that you used to accept the referral. Then use the app to activate the Quest 3.
When that is done you go to the Meta Quest app on your phone and press "Menu" then click the referral banner. It should show that you have accepted a referral and there will be a "redeem" button you press to get the store credit added to your account.

        • You click on "random" then it will give you a referral link from a random Ozbargainer, then to accept the referral you create the Meta account.

When you say create the meta account do you mean on the headset or on phone as mentioned below.

Then you install the Meta Quest app on your phone and log in with the Meta account that you used to accept the referral. Then use the app to activate the Quest 3.

I would have thought you install app then set up an account?

Sorry it’s probably easy it maybe I’m just overtired but you have lost me here a little.

          • @bwatt72: Yes you can do things in a different order - create the Meta account first then click a referral link and log in to the Meta account to accept the referral. You can create the Meta account on the Meta website on a computer or a phone. You can probably install the app and create the Meta account through the app too.

The important thing is that you use the referral link before you activate the Quest 3.

Just give it a go and you'll see what I described

            • @Shitforbrains: I’m not sure if the process of setting up etc needs the phone at hand or you get txt etc.

I was planning on setting it up by I have the app on my phone I use my wife email and phone number.
I do all the referral thing settings of the device up getting the free game etc.

I log out of meta app and no longer use or occasionally I can log into wife account with her log in details if wife not around and kids needed something or had to sort stuff out.
Or is this not possible if your txt with stuff to confirm etc this maybe not work or your emailed?
Yes if wife at home she can check emails or txt to confirm stuff but just curious

I wanted to set up most of this myself using her details I just don’t know if I would need to have her phone at hand or access to her email to confirm stuff.

              • @bwatt72: I think they probably would send a verification text and email when you first set up the account at least. And if you turn on two-factor authentication they would check when you login too. When I log in to my Meta account they send me an email code and an SMS code to verify.

                • @Shitforbrains: Ok so best to have wife around when setting this up as probably need her to verify etc all good.

                • @Shitforbrains: Still not got around to this yet I hope to get this done tonight tomorrow but do we need to charge headset in advance or is there a big of charge out of box, it’s still sealed since it was delivered a week or two prior to Xmas.
I need to take some notes on what you have said but i believe you said some of the setting up needs to be done with the headset and not all can be done by phone etc.

                  • @bwatt72: Mine had a semi-charged battery already out of the box, but I did top it up before using. Yes you will need to do some of the set up on the phone and some in the headset.

                    • @Shitforbrains: You have given me so much helpful info I still am a bit clueless, maybe it’s easier when i am actually doing it in person.
I just hope I don’t mess it up or do so in wrong order or miss out on the $90 referral.

  • Posting some of my own experience for anyone interested upgrading from Q2 to Q3.

Bought my Quest 3 headset around Black Friday from Amazon. Didn't arrive until about 11th of December (Amazon shipping to Tasmania from WA for some reason) which actually worked in my favour because I didn't end up activating it until 12th December.

I already had a Quest 2 so I "referred" myself by making a new Meta Account with one of many Boost Sims and secondary email address (I think you need a phone number to make a Meta account? Can't remember). Also helps to have a second phone to install the Meta app on for setting up the headset.

Generate your referral link from your primary account.
Open your referral link on the 2nd account - but be careful not to click it more than once. You should get a page saying something to the effect of "now go by a device". I think I messed up initially by clicking the link too many times which resulted in me having to factory reset the headset once.
You should be able to check the Meta app (phone) on primary account in referrals section to see your pending referral at this stage.

Setup the headset on the secondary account. Far enough to get into the main home screen of the Quest platform.
If you see anything about activating Asgards Wrath 2 though, DO NOT activate it on this account.
Around this stage you should be able to redeem your referral credit on your primary account. You will do this in the app in the referrals section. I'm a bit fuzzy on the order and timing here because, as I mentioned, I messed up something the first time (think I clicked referral link too many times) and had to reset my headset for the referral to eventually work.

At this stage you want to make sure you have been credited the full $94. I was only given $47 on both accounts on the 12th Dec so - after seeing OPs post (and by this stage I had reset the Q3 to my primary account in the step I mention below, but I reset once again and attached to my secondary account so Meta support would see the Q3 under the secondary account) - I jumped on Meta support chat as the secondary user and said I had only been given the smaller amount. They just asked for all the details of both accounts (full names, emails, and alias/username) and eventually they credited both accounts with the full bonus referral.

Now you can factory reset the Q3 from the secondary account and set it up on your primary account. Once you do this, you should receive an email about activating Asgards Wrath 2 which you can do on your primary account.

You will have $94 to use on your primary account and $94 to use on your secondary account. You can gift games - but not DLC/addons - from the secondary account to your primary account.

    Hope that helps someone!

Thanks to OP for pointing out the boosted referral because I wouldn't have known otherwise.

    • Thankyou so much for this very helpful comment! In particular your point that Asgards Wrath 2 can be activated on the primary account.

I was just wondering if you know if the free 6 months of Meta Plus can also be activated on the primary account as well?

      Thanks in advance :)

      • No worries! Sorry, but I only bought the 128GB version so mine didn't include the 6month offer. If I had to guess, it would say it would probably work the same way as the Asgards Wrath offer, but I couldn't say for sure.

  • Thanks for sharing! I got $94 credits after activating my headset! ❤️

  • Still to set this up and get the credit referral but curious if anyone uses lens protectors to save getting them scratched and did you guys get a case for it or something cheap but still protected.
Yes it’s my daughter’s machine but would like to try and protect it best I can.

  • Hey does anyone know if this referral credit will work if you are setting up a meta account for the first time but are using a second hand e.g. Oculus/Meta Quest 2?

  • What’s up with this I clicked on referral link above it took me to meta to sign up which I’m in process of I’m at the part it says
What do you want to be called meta horizon name and usernames I can get past username as no matter what I put in says unavailable
Now I don’t know if I turn off there my referral is gone or it’s log it’s self out as been trying for ages but to be honest I’m not finished setting up my account and what now

  • Why am i having issues signing up my email to meta the horizon part I can’t get past as will not except a username no matter what I do.

I just want to get a referral and get the account set up asap and use that funds towards games currently on sale and it ends on 2nd jab game sale. Surely it should not be this hard to get this set up

    • I just tried creating a new Meta account on my PC using Firefox browser. It accepted testuser986 as a Horizon username. Try something with a bunch of numbers to make it unique.

      • I have tried a heap nothing seems to work tried safari and chrome

        • testuser987 and test857 and oop729 were available last time I checked. You can change the username every six months so you can just make one that is gibberish

          • @Shitforbrains: None of these work and nothing I try does work for username for but that’s why safari and chrome thing is when you click on referral it takes you to meta I have no control where this takes you I mean what browser it uses unless I log off any I’m still signed into and I’m trying all sorts
Even if i got Firefox installed on my phone if I clicked on referral who is to say it uses Firefox

            • @bwatt72: You can copy the referral link then paste it into the Firefox address bar and press enter

      • Should I try on a pc then where maybe no Facebook is on there not that it should make any difference
