Seems a useful kind of tool if you do a lot of auto electrics. I wish I'd thought to get one earlier for doing my motorhomes.

  • Always a sucker for a good test gadget but, apart from the better ergonomics, is there anything this can do that a standard multi and some loose cables can't?

    • It can power circuits, bloody awesome.

      • My loose piece of wire isn't as awesome but has done me okay so far.

    • I've never used one, but check the video in the bottom of the pics. Seems pretty useful.

    • It just makes life a lot easier if you do lots of diagnostics with electrical circuits. I have a similar tool from jaycar and it’s an every day use item for me.

        So just the better ergonomics?

The ability to switch to ground is quite helpful too. But the improvement in ergonomics alone makes it a worthy purchase if you do this sort of stuff often.

          • @doobey1231: Ta. I see the use case for people that do this all the time.

It has a basic oscilloscope built in which can be useful. But once you use one you will never go back to a piece of wire again. Fixing something like trailer lights is very easy with this. The overload protection is great.

    • There are loads of similar looking ones if anyone missed it.

  • I received my order today and noticed that the probe tips (plastic + metal) fit very loosely in the tester. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. I am thinking of returning this, as it makes a very loose connection and requires me to push the probe against any test equipment/subject for accurate testing.

Are you pushing it in far enough? Mine goes in about 25mm and is quite stable (this is the pointy thing that's stored clipped on the back).

Thanks a lot for the tip! I was probably too kind with my new tool, pushed it a little harder, and yes, it fits snug now. The tip is not loose anymore. Your advice saved me the hassle of return/refund/research. I truly appreciate your help!
