I have too many of these damn switches!!!

    • +1

      why?

      • For the same reason people have games from Epic/Steam, Eneloops, powerbanks, watches, etc.

  • I need 2.5g switch
    any suggest?

  • I'm sure an easy question to answer.
Would this be recommended if I wanted to connect a PoE reolink doorbell and a number of reolink security cameras to my wifi network? TIA

This switch has no PoE capacity to supply power.
Will need a PoE switch (costs around $150 ish) or a PoE power injector instead.

      • Thanks for the response

        • +2

Be sure to add up the power requirements and the total Poe capacity of the switch you eventually choose though.

Switch much neater than several injectors

          • @nismoau: Appreciate the input. I'm a long way away from implementing this solution but great to know a few things to ensure I get so one that works for me :)

      • You can pick PoE switches up for 60 bucks or so

          Any links?

          • +1

@timhn: I just bought this for $49 delivered with eBay plus to dabble with my first Reolink Poe cam… works as intended so I’m happy.

Also check which power standard do you want for your equipment.
It’s not all standard like usb-c or standard Ethernet.
There are different voltages and wattage depending on the hardware

I got one of these and runs 5 of my Poe 4k cameras. Will do what you need

keepLiNK 10 Port PoE Switch, 8 PoE+ Ports 100Mbps, 2 Uplink 100Mbps, 120W 802.3af/at, Extend Function, Metal Fanless, Unmanaged Plug and Play https://amzn.asia/d/5uAiBOy

      Or this one is gigabit
      keepLiNK 8 Port Gigabit PoE… https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0C2H7TS7H?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_s…

  • Very happy with it. Plug n play.

  • I love how the listing says 0/100/1000Mbps, what am I gonna do with 0 hahaha

    • +1

That’s when it’s in ‘power save’ mode. ;-)

    • knowing technology a bit it should probably say 10/100/1000Mbps.

  • wow nice price! Grabbed the 8. Good price to upgrade the 100mpbs that's done well for years.

  • ‎"1 Lithium Ion batteries required" Whats this for?

    • +1

      I can confirm not required.

  • Can get from TGG commercial 5/8 for $22/$31 for the metal case ones. Any benefit getting this over these "plastic ones"? Only $6 more for the metal case ones. I have no high demands ona switch, just want to get rid of my netgear 10/100 switch….

    • +1

Zero advantage to metal casings in a device like this. The comments you read about plastic/metal casings in these basic switches are from trolls who are stirring everyone up and baiting people to respond to their tripe.

      • +1

Yeah bit of baiting going on around here. $25 for 8 Gig lan ports too good to knock back… ordered.
