Really wish the PS5 ver would also come down to this price.

    • +1

Is PS4 version still free to upgrade to PS5? PS4 version is around $29 from JB, if you can find a copy

  • +12

Ultimate is under $40 via VPN to GOG

    • Link? Why do you need to use a VPN? Wish there was a cheap Steam or Xbox version!!

    • $39.99USD on GoG with VPN.
      not worth it IMO

  • +2

Can you play this on the steam deck?

    • +2

      Deck verified

      • +1

Your definition of playable may vary, but it definitely runs. A game this great is definitely best enjoyed on the desktop, but if you turn down most of the settings it'll achieve 20-30 fps most of the time

    • I have played this on deck and it works ok, action scenes stutter a bit, but it’s definately playable.

If you have a pc/ps5/xbox s/x another option is to stream the game to the deck from these. Play this in all its glory without getting out of bed

  • Do you have to use the epic launcher for all games? thinking of grabbing cyberpunk and dead space remake

    • +1

If it's through epic yes you do.

    • +9

You can create shortcut then add -EpicPortal argument. Then you don’t need to have epic game launcher open everytime. But for initial install you needed it.

anyone getting an error trying to log in to epic games store? I'm getting "Sorry, you are visiting our service too frequently, please try again later."

    • Yeah, Epic appears to be down.

    • +1

Ok. Seems like a known issue. https://twitter.com/EOSStatus/status/1740484584117240024

I’ll probably wait for a steam sale. This platform is not reliable

      • This is exactly why I buy the games on steam even if it costs a few bucks more.
EPIC aren't interested in making a great or even reliable platform.

        • legit cant even logon to play the games i paid for. joke of a store this sale is the last time i spent money there

        • +1

Unfortunately we cannot get the Ultimate version on Steam anywhere close to $54. If Steam price is similar, I would buy it.

    • +1

Looks like it was an outage, but it can also glitch out at the best of times.

Epic Games store can have issues if you’re doing one of the following:
      - using iCloud Private Relay
      - using a VPN service
      - using an ISP that applies heavy IP multiplexing for public addresses

Epic filters and rate-limits on public IP address, so anything that causes you to share an IP address with other users can mess it up.

As with @Nitr0 have mentioned, please buy through GOG if you have access to a VPN, cheaper and better - for you and the devs.

Not only does CDPR ges the full share - you dont want two faced Sweeney getting his cut, do you? You are also getting the far superior DRM free version. How DRM free, you may ask? Well, GOG will not force you to download it through their app, for you can literally download offline installer packages - similiar as to how pirated repacks are - these can be copy and pasted, transferred all you want.

In this day and age with all other storefronts can easily just deny you access and remove any digital content you purchase, GOG is about the sole exception. And while I know many of us still hold CDPR in contempt for the horrible release of 2077, lets just say, that in the state of AAA publishing in late 2023, its a 'best among the worst' situation here.

    • +11

I wouldn't call it better since using VPN to buy games from another region is against the GOG user agreement

      • +1

Yet to hear anyone banned for popular deals like these:https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/791492

Usig vpn to circumvent regional pricing is a common technique around here. Not something I would be afraid of.

Besides, in the eventuality they somehow banned your account, what they are going to do? Remove the drm free copies you have downloaded on your harddrive? Lol

        • +1

just because they don't enforce bans right now doesn't mean there can't be consequences in the future for doing it.

          • -8

@sangohan: lol mate. now we are all worked up about using vpn?

where are you all when those deals were posted? didnt see none of you negging the deal because 'oh no its bad'

            • -5

@Brrrrt: sweeney shills downvoting me because im right :) if yall really got an argument against me, or those deals using vpn, type up an argument instead of negging silently.

eager to hear your thoughts on this matter

    • Can you use your main GOG account or do you need a new one for VPN

      • -1

ive always used my main one. No problems

        • That worked for me, cheers

    • +1

Definitely not good for devs, nor for the regions where you are buying from. GOG is understandable.

    • +1

I actually do want Sweeney getting a cut. Monopolies are good for nobody and epic is the only one with enough money that cares to fight the other dudes. Yeah you may wish the smaller more consumer friendly companies were doing it, but they can't afford the legal costs.

A steam monopoly is bad for us in the long run. As is an apple or google one on their devices. It may annoy you that occasionally you need to use a different launcher for some exclusive, but tough titties.

      • +3

Everyone hates on Epic, but if it wasn’t for them funding Alan Wake 2 (one of the best games of the year) it wouldn’t have been made

        • Exactly. People complain epic pay for exclusivity deals, but you have to if you want to compete with the market leader, otherwise why would anyone switch. Steam owns 75%+ of the PC games market and takes a 30% cut.

          • +2

            @RI4V4N:

Exactly. People complain epic pay for exclusivity deals, but you have to if you want to compete with the market leader, otherwise why would anyone switch.

Eh… How about by offering a better service? Back at launch, it was excused as "Steam has been around for years, and it sucked when it first launched too."

Now years later, even though Epic could have simply copied and refined what Steam already had without reinventing the wheel, it's still lacking basic functionalities that folks have long gotten used to on Steam.

Steam owns 75%+ of the PC games market and takes a 30% cut.

It's the same 30% cut you'd find on the Apple, Google, Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox stores. GOG too.

It's pretty obvious that the only reason that Epic's various incentives (free games and lower cut) exists is because they're currently behind, and unsustainable in the long-term.

As soon as they're closer to a level playing field with Steam, all those incentives will disappear as if they never existed, and all that'll be left is a worse version of Steam.

            • @pj1351: Yeah good luck competing with community features driven by years of being a monopoly in the marketplace lol. Even if matched, people wouldn't switch, they'd have no reason to. Exclusives are a reality of the game marketplace and have been for a long time.

Yeah I know 30% is the same on those other closed wall marketplaces, have you not seen epic trying the fight that as well? We are lucky anyone with the money to do it is. Id rather devs don't get scalped 30% by the big boys.

I think your imagining a fairytale world where epic gets even close to a steam market share, so you don't need to worry about those imaginary doomsday scenarios in your head.

      • -2

monopoly? steam never had a monopoly in the first place.

its pc and no macs. your arguments doesnt even make sense.

  • Epic is down…can't checkout.

  • +1

Got it through Epic. I've never had a problem with them and cbf worrying about VPN's etc.

  • +1

I loved playing Atomic Heart, bioshock infinite and the Metro series. I think I likes these because they were pretty linear, sci-fi and less exploratory with good story lines. Any similar games you guys recommend for PC?

    • +2

      Bioshock 1 remaster
You might like SOMA (it's a little different, but good story)
You could try Wolfenstein games, they're linear with sci-fi elements

      • I did play RTCW back in the days and have the recent wolfenstein II The new collosus, will try that out. Thanks.

    • +2

Dead space , Prey, System Shock

      • I played the orginal Prey 2006 based on the Doom3 engine back then, it was actually awesome. Yet to try out the new Prey and Dead Space remastered. Thanks.

        • New prey is completely unrelated to the old one. The new one is space station BioShock, by the guys who made dishonored. It's pretty great imo, will be just what you are looking for. Dishonoured and dishonoured 2 potentially as well.

          • @RI4V4N: I think I have it from the Epic give away. Will definitely try it out. Thanks.

    • +2

It’s not sci-fi, but have you played Spec Ops? It’s a great story and very linear.

Mass effect might be worth a shot too, a bit less linear but still story driven.

We Happy Few is worth a look too. Wasn’t good on release but once it got a few patches it is good.

      • Havent played the spec ops or mass effect. Have the we happy few, played it for a few and stopped. Will give it another try as soon as I finish atomic heart. Thanks.

  • Thats wild they are still charging so much for this. I picked up the physical box (though they are empty these days so it really is just a box) for $30 from jbhfifi back in 2021

    • +3

it wouldve been way cheaper in the past since the game was a mess but they've fixed a whole bunch of stuff so the goodwill is back and people are willing to pay more for a finished product

  • can't decide between this or Alan wake 2

    • If you liked Alan Wake, Alan wake 2.

    • They are vastly different games… get whatever style/genre you prefer more

    • +1

the story is hella boring played it for the aesthetics, they seems to have nerfed the shit out of skill trees too in latest version

horror survival, i mean if you have a hard on for zombies I guess

      • Alan Wake isn't horror survival.

Sure, there's some horror themes, and it has a bit of RE inspired combat, but its very much a narrative art-house game, the combat is a bit of a passing thought

    • +1

I mean, if you like fun and you like good gameplay, then Cyberpunk 2077 is hands-down worlds better than Alan Walking simulator 2

  • Will this run on a RTX 2060 Super with a Ryzen 7950X?

    • no 4k solitaire would be the limit

  • Does anyone know if there is a way to get just the addon Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty with the 33% off?

    • +1

same link, theres an option for the DLC by itself, discount will automatically appear on check out
