I won't something like this. But I look at it and think I could build something better than that myself.

It would only take 18 months, cost just 4 times as much, and end up being probably not that good.

    Sigh…

      want*

      • As is his wont.

        • Twas an autocarrot in the wind.

          • @WSDtightwad: LOL, someone negged me because they don't understand the word wont.

            • @Wardaddy: I know right. I got negged for paraphrasing firefly and pointing out a hypocritical numpty in glass houses below.

Sad people be wontingly sad sole brigadiers.

              • @WSDtightwad: I saw that. There seems to be a level of resentment from certain bogans towards literate people.

I could build something better than that

      then

end up being probably not that good.

    • Timber , pillow, some fabric and a staple gun .. actually pretty damn easy if you have the tools , easy to hide the staples and you get to make it custom size

I mean might not save much money and then once you factor in the labour gonna be close to the same cost but at least you will better your skills and have something of decent quality

You will also need a drill and some kind of saw but these things will come in useful once you learn how easy it is to build things like this

      • Independence from China mass production

      Win win really

  • bruv, won't is not the same as want

    • -3

Much wow, you are such a genius /s

      • -2

Bruv. Not "bruv". Capitals at the start of a sentence.
And you need a full stop at the end of a declarative sentence.

You would have to ask my phone about the autocorrect.

        • -2

he won'ts to correct people, ha ha ha
          so funny

i want get into such silly games, ha ha

            @Nilfunds: "Nilfunds on 30/12/2023 - 12:24

bruv, won't is not the same as want"

            This you?

  • I'm tempted but do have doubts on the durability of the item.

If anyone gets this can they give OzB a review as I'm tempted and could use the storage space. Thank you :)

What is this, an Ottoman for ants?

  • I need this, take my money!

So it begins the great special buy battle of 2024

I white (~or off white~) is maybe the worst color for something you're meant to kick your feet up on

    • Never seen anyone use an ottoman as a foot rest, normally they're for sitting.

      • +1

        No, they're a foot rest.

        • How so? Most people tend to place these at end of their bed, and mostly sit on them to put on shoes etc. Even the picture on the product page shows it placed at the end of the bed.

          • @Trishool: The meaning of "Ottoman" has changed over time. Go back 20 years, and it was a cylindrical cushion that functioned as a foot stool.

This item is really a "storage chest with padded lid", except that it has legs. So it's not an Ottoman (by the old definition), nor is it properly a "chest", it's somewhere in-between.

"Ottoman" is way shorter than "Storage chest with legs and padded lid", so the marketing people decided to use the shorter term.

          • @Trishool: I looked at it and thought, cool, put it in front of the couch and keep all my controllers and games and excess remotes in it.

    • Cover it with a throw or a (faux) sheepskin

  • Can I use this to replace my piano bench?

    • Plausible.
My first thought was that it would be too low.
Measure your bench. Ours is 52cm high.
      This is 50cm high.

    • Can I use this to replace my piano bench?

Could be dangerous, unless you're willing to screw or glue the lid in place, so it can't open.

Otherwise, when you grab it to move it forward, the lid will open. If you then stumble and sit down on it, it would be easy to crush your fingers between the lid and the main part of the Ottoman.

Also, it'll be significantly heavier than a normal piano bench, so more difficult to adjust your position. Not a problem if you're the only person using it, you'll only have to position it once. A normal piano bench is much lighter, e.g. this one says 5kg, one-quarter the weight:

  • Is there any way to call up an individual aldi store to check stock this morning?

  • Went to 3 Aldi's in Sydney and none had stock

  • Anyone able to source these at any Aldis in NSW?

  • Anyone find this in any SA stores? Online stock checker isn't showing anything
