~85 Free IP TV Channels with LG WebOS Smart TVs @ LG

3720

Surprised this has not been posted before, as it offers LG WebOS Smart TV owners access to 85+ free IP Channels. Some are actually quite decent as well. It is also not available in all countries, but it is in Australia! Note, not all channels in the link are available in Australia, but I provide a full list further down specific to the Australian market.

LG Channels is LG's exclusive free streaming service, offering a wide selection of premium live and on-demand programming, including movies, music, TV shows, news, sports, children's' programs, and more. Watch 100% free live channels anywhere you want!

Instructions

You may already have the channels turned on, but if not, follow the instructions below

  1. Press Home on your TV Remote.
  2. On the TV's home screen, select Settings.
  3. After selecting the Settings Icon on your remote or home page, the Settings Menu will display on either the left or right side of the TV screen. Scroll down to the bottom of the settings menu and select All Settings.
  4. Make sure that LG Channels is set to ON.
  5. Upon turning on LG Channels, you might see a Viewing Restriction Disclaimer. Select OK to continue.
  6. Select the LG Channels icon on LG TV's WebOS Menu Bar.
  7. Start watching LG Channels. You can also just select the channels on your remote as you would normally with FTA tv

I went looking on my c1. Not there

      • I can't see it on my C2 either, unless I'm missing something obvious…

Oh wait, I found it. I can see the LG Channels app, so it's definitely there.

    • Does this work (US Support)?

      https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-tv-how-to-use-…

      WebOS 6.0 - Settings → Support → Privacy & Terms → User Agreements → LG Channels Service

Something similar available on TCL Google TVs. heaps of channels

https://github.com/iptv-org/iptv has a massive list of free IP TV streams that can be accessed without needing an LG TV.

Like a Foxtel subscription for free, but without the movie channels.
The LGE site lists the actual channel names not the program names above.
This makes LG almost worth buying, though it lacks the ability to add android apps like Samsung or Sony.

  • When I go into settings and programmes. Mine says ‘LG hobby TV’

My Tv is about 3 years old, so maybe this is only for new tv’s. anyway to get this working on mine?

  • This site will tell you how to get iptv working on Kodi, you will need a VPN for some channels, what I have tried works well

The quality and performance of these channels are terrible unfortunately.

  • A whole channel of FailArmy?! 🤤

    • Also available on fetch
      .

  • TIL I can install games on our 11 year old LG tv (as soon as i sign up for lg something or other, and assuming it will actually install)
Stumbled across it as the instructions above don't apply and kept looking through menus (under LG smart world)
And watch video live from the ISS?
    .

  • Show Champion is music, no?

277 upvotes but the following should be in the OP:

    Enter LG Channels
To make the WebOS platform even more efficient, LG has partnered with Xumo to include an additional streaming app feature called LG Channels (formerly LG Channel Plus).

Although the Xumo App is an option for some other brands, LG includes it as part of the WebOS core experience for select FHD and UHD 2012-2018 LG LED/LCD or OLED smart TV models running or updated to WebOS 4.0 as well as select 2019 models running WebOS 4.5.

    • I tried the Xumo app from the LG App Store and it just says not available in your country which is set to Australia.

  • I have a 2015 UHD TV but seems to be running a WebOS 2.2.something… How to update? Or not possible?

    • +1

No you can’t update the WebOS. At least afaik. I was told by LG yesterday I have WebOs 4 and I am stuck with it. You can’t upgrade it.

  • +2

Thanks I just clicked mine on. Wish I was Korean!

  • Unfortunately not available on my 60LG6500. There is no ‘all settings’ or Channels option in my menu.

  • For those that can't easily get LG Channels working, how you activate the app depends on the Webos version. On my tv with webos 6 I had to agree to all t&cs, go through 2 updates and then move the app to a place I could access it on the screen. Then I wondered why I'd bothered.
    Sad face.

    • That’s what LG told he as well you need WebOS 6 to get this to work. I have a C9 (2019) OLED but that is WebOS 4 afaik.

LG Channels are absolute garbage. Quality is like it was all filmed with a potato. I've deleted them all off my TV.

    • what speed internet are you on because i'm on 100/20 and it's clear to me

      • I stand corrected. Takes about 20-30 seconds to become clear, whereas normal TV, Netflix are clear immediately. I didn't actually watch anything for longer than 20 seconds on the LG Channels hahaha.

  • I wish it didn't have this shit.. My G3 has the worse operating system experience ive seen in a TV.. it reminds me of when the old Samsung Galaxy around the 3-5 range used to come with 500 tonnes of bloatware

  • +1

I tried this but this didn’t work for LG C9. It doesn’t show "LG Channels" But Programmes and there’s no option to turn it on.

    • Same for me I have a C9 and called LG they said I need WebOS 6 or newer.

  • Fantastic! Thanks OP, works beautifully on our LG TV.

  • It's probably worth making a list of confirmed tv models. Because the bs from LG is clearly incorrect.
Maybe in op list confirmed models from comments

  • Called LG CARE and despite having a 2019 OLEDC9PTA OLD TV they say I need WebOS or newer which is not what the instructions say. They say WebOS4 or higher.

Even the LG Channel app from their App Store won’t work.

Their answer is buy a newer TV with WebOS 6 and I would have bought that C3 via LG VIP but the HSBC VIP expired.

Wait and see what the new C4 has on it whether they are putting micro lens technologies onto the C4 or only the G4 Evo.

To quote Weird Al, "I hooked up eighty channels and each one stunk"

I setup my Chromecast Google TV with this and set it to Sydney:
    https://www.matthuisman.nz/2019/01/live-au-iptv-channels-on-…

Now all those Pluto channels are on their plus all the MTV and Nickleodeon channels. I think there are over 150 channels now. So it's like the old days when you use to scroll through the Foxtel list and there is nothing on tv. At least this is free!

Nick is actually a new free to air channel. The multinational that owns network ten has been contracted to provide a certain amount of kids TV programmes so instead of funding local Australian stuff they just imported this channel.

I have LG TV from 2014 with web os would this work?

    • do you have the latest WebOS on your TV? If so it should work

      • Nope I guess back to Fire TV stick with addons

      • Not sure its as simple as that. My b8 2018 works but my c1 2021 doesnt.

  • Also on Bauhn LG WebOs tvs

  • This just popped up on my opening menu of apps the other day so I didn't have to do anything. I like Korean movies but the content doesn't sound exciting.

**** This is now available on LG C1 in Australia ****

This morning I received a software update on the C1, After the update I was asked to accept new agreements and one of them was the LG Channels agreement.

I now have these channels on my TV, they appear at the bottom of the standard Live TV Antenna list.

*** Disclaimer - They ain't super duper but they are there.

    • Update came through yesterday on my C1 as well

      • After the initial buffer quality pretty good i reckon on the c1
