Ew they're making these with plastic bases now instead of the metal bases?

    • +3

I've used this plastic base version for years at my workplace without issue.

    • I had similar concerns before buying it, but in practice it's fine for home use. If I were buying for my business and giving it a lot more use, then I would get the metal base.

Does it work on french monarchs?…..asking for a friend

This isn't a bargain? Unless a discount code provided, it's just a normal price.

  • Can't believe we used to use these in primary school, even without the plastic shield

I would say the 'unbelievable' thing is that you (and others) think that is an issue. I'm sure nothing happened to you or your friends, right? Way too much cotton wool nowadays.

      • Oh yea I agree, I don't think its an issue, its just funny looking back cos no way they have these sitting in a classroom now.

        • People are being dumbed down and devolved.

          • @bboz: Understood initial reaction, but do you think that about seatbelts and pool fences?

Yeah, some of these things can be a PITA, but if they prevent real damage, especially personal damage, and don't really impinge on your experience, why be sore about it? This blade cover being a perfect example.

@afoveht: You've misunderstood. This isn't about safety devices, it's about those tools being removed from schools because they are "too much of a risk" which I disagree with. We don't have a generation of fingerless adults roaming about.
Literally nothing at all related to seatbelts and pool fences.
