  • Which one of these 2 holds better?

      Extra Hold?

      • TRESemme Salon Finish Freeze Hold

    • some people complained that the salon hold didn't really do the job well….esp for curls. I ended up getting the extra hold.

  • Thanks OP, ordered

  • I've mostly been using hair wax/clay. Only used Spray a few times many many years ago.

Does this hold well compared to hair wax/clay? Any weird/very strong (unacceptable) chemical smell?

    • +1

I find spray so much more convenient than wax/clay. Hold is really strong (schwarzkopf is usually pretty good) and don’t need to deal with cleaning wax off hands afterwards. Save a fair bit of time each morning too and a 400g bottle would usually last at least 6 months for me. Hair is also not as oily and the spray can be easily removed by brushing out with a hairdryer afterwards.

    • Most can find hairspray useful as a finishing product. Using a solid product (gel or pomade or paste or clay, depending on hair) to style according to look and texture and place, then finishing with the spray to hold it. I find using lighter and matte products, in my case a clay and a light/moderate spray, better in order to avoid adding too much density to your hair so that it has volume and is more malleable to styling and looks natural, but that will depend on your hair and goals.

I personally find these TRESemme products poor quality. They have an oily wet finish, seem to spray in a more coarse way, and have a synthetic fragrance. They are the best value for quantity.

I tend to use the Schwarzkopf range which are still one of the cheaper ones particularly for larger cans and at their discounted prices. Best value for quality IMO. I sometimes get a higher cost product (sometimes just the Keratin type that Schwarzkopf do) and always notice a better product and result for the price.

  • The price is low. I don't often use hair spray due to it makes hair really hard sometimes. Do you know a spray can hold hair without any crispy feeling and non-sticky?

  • I purchased it for spraying on 3d printer build plates

  • Cheaper on Amazon if u subscribe n save

    • literally checked Amazon 5 minutes before I bought, was 6$ range, guess they changed their pricing.

    • Pretty sure you looked at the 75g price, only the freeze hold variant is $2.69

      • only the freeze hold variant is $2.69

        min order 2 as well.

  • Their mousse was the best on the market and great value - pity it's no longer available. TRESemme should do a deal with ALDI to have it as a permanent line.

  • thanks, got 3 of the extra hold….the salon hold seemed to have some bad reviews (saying can be sticky, doesn't hold well, makes hair feel like straw etc, nozzle issues so it stops working), so I will stick with the extra hold. I normally get the Aldi brand and that is my go to, but couldn't pass this up for the great price. It is a little less content than Aldi (theirs is 400g for $4.39), but this is a better price per volume. I just hope there are no issues with the spray nozzle. At least if I have any issues, I can return any of them to CW as it was done in my account.

  • Thanks, stocked up on the salon finish for mum it’s her favourite.
