  • Can i ask a few noobish questions;

    Can i use the $30 SIM in any / all Telstra USB NextG modems, do i need to unlock the SIM?

    I'm currently buying a NextG USB modem and a TP-Link router to use for internet access while in a rural area, does anyone see any problems with using this SIM to get up and running? I assume the credit on the SIM allows has a data allowance.

    Again, sorry for the noobness, i was doing the research and this deal came up…

    Good Luck… Most of the items are over-priced !

    • yes i admit, the high end phones are. most of $100-$300 are not though. if your interested in a particular handset, please let us know, well give you a good deal.

      thanks

    Well, the sim is never locked, the handset/dongle is. So if your dongle is unlocked, itll take any sim as long as the sim is activated. we sell heaps of telstra ipad sims since they come with 3gb data, so instead of recharging $50 for same 3gb, people just activate one of these ipad sims, chuck em in the modem and use the data.

    We would not recommend a $30 telstra sim(which is 1/2 price) for data usage, since it will only have approx 700mb upon activation.

    thanks. hope it helps

    • thanks for your reply, that does help

      i'll search around for info on unlocking dongles and consider the ipad SIM as a good option for getting data

  • Can the ipad2 use the telstra ipad sim here: http://idroid.net.au/30-pre-paid-micro-sim-for-the-ipad? My ipad is unlocked.
    Also can you confirm that the data if unused will be useable till 2015? Which date?

    • yah the telstra ipad sim is compatible with all ipads with microsim slot. the data is valid for 30 days only. the sim is valid till april 2015 which means you can activate the sim before that date, once activated though, the data expires in 30 days, thanks
