I just wanted to alert everyone of my experience and provide this neg against the store on communication process from company. Here was the comment I left in their previous post.

Seller is frustrating to deal with, they don't respond to requests, poor communication and worst of all of things stuff up on the way they brush their hands off it.
For reference I ordered the most expensive bean in their store. The guatamala geisha. It went missing in transit emailed them and no response for nearly 48 hrs.
Get the beans and they were roasted over 10 days prior to receiving them.
The seller brushed their hands off the problem and said they don't control the delivery process. While that is true they didn't even sort out remediation with auspost and send a newer batch.. this coffee is over $250/kg, optimum drinking period is less than 3 weeks.
Anyway poor seller and poor communication. Also beans are mediocre at best

    • $250/kg wow, I feel cheap buying from those AIRJO at $35/kg..

That's really poor, especially considering the price. Regardless if businesses are going to use OzB to advertise they really need to be a step above in customer service, not a few steps below. Neg.

    • I'll give a different perspective, to them it seems like a non issue as on their end they fulfilled their requirements of getting the coffee out it time, and even with the delay you got it around 10 days post roast. Having a look at their description, they roast with a DTR of 8-10% which is very light and would benefit from longer rest, I wouldn't be surprised if 10 days is minimum rest time, my Ethiopian geisha benefits from 3 weeks rest. So to them it seems like a nothing burger.

However they should have communicated it, if I paid for premium coffee I want a premium experience. Although it wasn't a fault on their part if they had properly explained that although the coffee was 10 days post roast it was still within the rest window, I think you would have been fine with that.
Now if the optimal rest time was 4-5 days (which I doubt) they should absolutely have gotten you a new batch.

      • They didn't even roast it correctly it wasnt that light of a roast, trust me these aren't the people you want to buy your good coffee from.
In comparison crema coffee garage are spot on with their specialty roasts every single time.

        • Fair enough, I have never tried their coffee so can't speak for now well they roast and was just going on the DTR they posted. It's hard to find good filter roast in Oz, a lot of places say filter but taste roasty.
I think monastery does a good job with light roast, at least all the ones I had from them so far have been roasted well. Currently ordered a Geisha that they are clearing out, roasted more than a month ago but I'm confident it will still be fine as I've had their others roast after more then a month.
Was that the first coffee you bought from normcore? You didn't try out their cheaper options too see how they roast before jumping into the Geisha?

@ozlurker: From a specialty roast perspective yes this was the first i ordered, i previously ordered blends (damn good blend and cornerstone), which btw is also not great.
Anyway they are no longer on my purchasing list, i just thought i would share my experience as i havent had a good experience with them.
Haven't tried Monastery. I've got paradox on my to try list as well as code black. I'm waiting for their Chiroso to go back in stock as i heard it is a great bean.
I really do love coffee and was disappointed with this group
