Optus is better than Telstra where I live so reception will vary depending on your location.

  • Is it available for recharge?

  • Nice alternative to boost, especially with intl calling. Seems like the difference is Telstra vs optus, 5G vs 4G, no data Rollover vs rollover.

    • +1

Boost has more int countries than Coles.

    • WiFi calling vs no wifi calling as well?

  • Is this better than Woolworths $170 plan with 10% off monthly buys? My yearly renew coming up soon

    • +1

Lots of different features & network so depending who you ask you'll get a different answer.

    • +1

Unless you shop for a large family, it's hard to consistently put together a large shopping list of "essentials" month after month.

But $50 in a single shop should be easily achievable, so $5/month or $60/year saving.

That brings the $170 plan to $110, it's quite a bit cheaper if 125GB is sufficient.

  • I'm paying $24 per month on Optus SIM only plan, no lock-in: Unlimited standard national talk & text, 30GB, Unlimited talk & text to 35 countries. Is it worth switching?

    • +1

You'll get 5G with Optus (unless you're on a very old plan) - this is only 4G. Plus lesser data pm with Coles.

      • +1

older plans, you just can flick on 5g on their system they'll usually do it but most people have been put onto new plans.

    • +1

      It's basically $288 / 360GB / 5G / 35 countries / monthly commitment vs $169 / 200GB / 4G / 15 countries / yearly commitment.

We don't know how much data you use, which countries you call, if you are in 5G areas, how can we tell which plan is a better deal for you?

      Only you can tell.

      • I thought the deal was 200GB per month.. misread it

  • Looks like this deal is better than the Boost one. But Boost is on Telstra network, how about the Optus stability?

  • +1

Of course if Vodafone is better, then you get 240Gb/12mth for $150 (Woolies/Voda) $120 Costco

  • After Coles massive price jack and plan changes recently, there's better value with the Amaysim plans sold exclusively through Woolies, IMHO. I can see Coles losing a considerable amount of customers with their plan changes.

    • Read the description, this plan isn't a new (jacked) one & $169 is the same sale price as previous posts last year.

      • -1

I read the description, I'm speaking of their new plans.

    • I got this text message today, are you talking about this type of thing? What's the best option if you don't need so much data (120GB per annum is fine):

Hi, your recharge will be expiring on 04/03/2024. You might notice your current $150 Coles Mobile Plan is no longer available to new customers. Don’t worry though, your plan isn’t affected. Just keep recharging to continue enjoying your great inclusions. More info: https://colesmobile.com.au/home/page/newplans

Yeah, Coles plans have increased in price substantially! Throwing extra gigs, that you don't really need and increasing the price substantially, I see right thru that.
        Do your home work!
I used to be a massive advocate for Coles MVNO service, however no longer.
Amaysim through Woolies, is now heaps better better value.
        But each to their own…

I swear to God, please avoid this coles mob for sure. I just recently joint them end of last year.
    1. Poor reception
    2. Lost mobile data in crowded places
    3. Take me 5 days for porting

I wish i can go back to boost

    • +2

Reception is fine where I live so I guess it depends on your location.

I ported from a different network & it was done in a matter of minutes.

      1. I never had an issue in the last two years, in fact, my net was fine overseas.
      2. Recently went to Coldplay concert, the most crowded event and my internet was fine, maybe because it was Optus stadium. Boost struggled at that time.
      3. Boost always gives a hard time while poring in or porting out—nothing to do with Coles mobile.

I have used Coles mobile for over two years and had no issues. I never had any network issues unless travelling to remote areas where I know there will be network issues.

Good for someone who uses data only when outdoors, as I have wifi at work and home.

    Its value for money.

if you have questions feel free to ask

I recommend avoiding Coles Mobile. We live in a populated suburb on the Gold Coast and have no data reception at all from our house until we drive further down the road. When we had power outages from the Christmas & New Years storm we had no access to internet when our wi-fi went down since we had no data reception at our house We're switching providers this year.

  • What's the cheapest way to get this or other Coles mobile long expiry plans for existing customers?

    • I usually switch to another network for a month (any $10 special network) and get the above deal and activate when my other network is about to expire, then you don't to worry for one year.

      • Ok, looks like that's the only way.

  • Does anyone know if these work on iPads?
I currently use the Boost sims but I know not all mobile sims allow you to use them in tablets

    • Activate the sim in a phone and move the sim to your iPad. should work

  • The three advantages boost has that coles doesn't are the following:
    1. Telstra network so wider coverage.
    2. VoWifi works internationally so you can potentially save on international roaming costs.
    3. 5G

Which Boost plan is similar in price to this with 200GB & international calls / sms to 15 countries though?

      • I guess we have to pay a premium for a reason?

  • Can I port out from Optus postpaid to this?

  • Is this deal still active? Can we get that price from Coles in-store ?

    • Went to my local Coles, no stock and they couldnt find it on their instore system either. It looks like its goneski.

  • How is this compared to Amaysim $215 starter kit with 210GB data sold at Woolworths?
I’ve noticed that Amaysim recently hiked their prices, and Coles Mobile $120, $150 and $200 plans were discontinued. But Amaysim $165 and $215 starter kits are still being sold at Woolworths, which are even better than original Amaysim plans before the price hike.

  • Want into Coles today and looks like it's back at $200 for the 200GB Prepaid Starter Pack
