    No thanks ;)

    • +3

      Already received a free 4K60 PS5 upgrade.

      • wait how?! I bought the last of us 2 on ps4 and already paid 79 on release i aint paying 20 extra on top thats bull lmao. PC have these settings for free. Low Medium High and Ultra.

      • +1

I think that patch just unlocked the framerate to 60fps.

      • not the same upgrade man that wasn't the full remastered verison that upgrade was just a bump in res and frame rate.

  • +6

I can understand The Last of Us Part I Remastered. But this? Too soon.

    • +3

By Naughty Dog stadards this seems pretty restrained, was released 3.5 years ago… I guess they did have to remaster a remaster first… also fun fact, the original Last of Us Remaster, was released on the PS4 13 months after the game launched on PS3.

  • +7

It is US$10 (~A$15) on the US store, which is imo a fairer price

    • +2

IIRC i paid like 16.99aud for uncharted 4 remaster 2 years ago

      • iirc i paid $12-15 to upgrade AC black flag and cod ghosts from ps3 to ps4 when they released back in 2013.

11 years and a heap of inflation later, $15 for the tlou 2 upgrade is no way near a cash grab.

        • +1

Earlier the post said 20$ for upgrade thats why people here talking bout cash grab, i did upgrade last night and it was 15$ so i see no problem.

    • Can you use US account DLC with the Aussie disc version?

  • +35

Disgusting that a company as large as Sony has to squeeze their customers when so many smaller companies would have offered this as a free upgrade for existing owners. Like the free The Witcher 3 new gen upgrade for example. And then to go extra greedy and make it a full $20, ugh.

    • greedy as hell but that's what happens when the competition is weak

AFAIK Sony only ever did ONE game free upgrade from ps4 to ps5 via patch and they said every other title going forward will be USD$10… so about $15 aud lol

but do i want an xbox? nah.

      • +22

Wrong. Days Gone, Horizon, Tsushima all got free upgrades because they were basic patches.

This has a bunch of stuff under the hood, new modes, commentary and unreleased levels.

        • +4

I don't think Tsushima was a free upgrade. You were forced to go directors cut on PS5 which was $45 or so.
I remember because back then my 1 year old daughter bought it for Father's Day on my PS5. But only had ps4 version prior

    • +15

It's got a lot more than a typical free upgrade.

      • +1

Especially considering there already is a free patch to unlock 60fps on the PS5.

    • +14

This has heaps of additional content. It's not just the original game.

    • Surely it's Naughty Dog, not Sony, who's charging this? They're the ones who would have put a year of work into it, so seems like a fair price to me.

      • +6

Sony is the publisher. It's their call.

    • +2

Naughty Dog have two options: lay off their unrequired workers whom aren't working on their new title, or keep them employed by rehashing TLOU series with greater graphical content as well as gameplay and enhancements.

TLOU Part 1 looks absolutely incredible. The PS5 enhancements cannot be understated - if you play TLOU:1 with the accompanying headset with 3D Audio, the experience is ethereal.

If you don't want to pay for it, then, y'know… just don't buy it?

    • +1

It really depends on what the upgrade is. For example an FPS or resolution boost for an old game running on new hardware should be free IMO. If you add a bunch of new and useful content, then it's reasonable to charge, as you would with DLC.

The part that annoys me about Sony this generation is that they tend to bundle the two together, so if you want to obtain the full graphical boost you have to pay for the entire upgrade, even if you don't want the other stuff. So for example with GO Tsushima, I didn't really care about the Iki or Legends add-ons, but I did want the resolution/load time boost.

Plus all the bullshit to make sure you select the correct version of the game, having to jump through hoops to access upgrades etc. I just can't imagine poor Granny or Mum trying to figure out which copy of TLOU they are supposed to be buying for young Billy. Let's not kid ourselves - a very large portion of video game consumers are not savvy.

Xbox on the other hand - you buy a game once and it runs at the best possible output for the console you have. You don't have to choose to download the PS4 or PS5 version and Microsoft even went and added performance boost to a whole list of games without the publisher having to lift a finger. All of that was free, you didn't have to pay for your games to run at the best output on the newest hardware. And I think that's the right way to go about it.

    • "ugh" 🤓🤓

get over it it's 15 dollars, if it doesn't suit you, don't buy it. Maybe go look at nintendo pricing for a minute.

  • +3

I thought this was 10USD? I figured the conversion would be ~15Aud for us..

    • Adobe got questioned WHY Australia got charged a full thousand dollars when other countries get it cheaper. Always assume 1 usd is 2 aud at least thats what companies feel like it is. when its closer to 1usd to 1.3aud

      • usd aud is 1.52

  • +14

this will be downvoted but $20 seems a tad steep, but you know rockstar will rerelease red dead 2 for $89 in a year or 2 which will be 60fps and nothing more.

people buy skins for more than this like it's nothing.

  • Just in time since I sold my last of us part ii the other day

      • +1

he's a little confused but he's got the spirit

  • 👏

  • +27

I don't get the hate for this Remaster. They're adding tons of new content into this for 20$. this is a no brainer. If anything Part 1 Remake was the cash grab. They sold it for full price and removed Factions MP.

    • +13

The hate is still probably real for those who were butthurt about when TLOU2 was originally released. I tried staying away from all the rumours / leaks / butthurt before the game was released but I still caught some of the game details due to clickbait attention grabbing story headlines on gaming sites which kinda sucked. The downvoting was insane. FWIW, this is one of my favourite games ever and I'll have zero restraint about shelling out $20 for all this extra content (remember we already got a free patch update a few years back which gave 60fps and some excellent game modifiers).

      • +3

I tried staying away from all the rumours / leaks / butthurt before the game was released but I still caught some of the game details due to clickbait attention grabbing story headlines

I, somehow, completely avoided all spoilers without even trying to. Sorry you got the story spoiled - cos, what a heart-wrenching twist they had for us in TLOU2 that really affected me, emotionally. They're both masterpieces.

    • +2

Have you played TLOU:1? It looks and plays incredible. The DualSense integration is used to it's full potential. 3D audio is amazing.

    • Tons of new content? One new mode and zero difference between graphics and Resolution.

  • +12

    Wheres the bargain in this?

    • +4

Yeah, this is more like PSA.

    • +4

Completely agree, pricing is on par with other sony upgrades. Not sure how this is a deal, I don't see the saving and its more expensive than the US upgrade, what extra content do us aussies get?
Just can't believe there is a remaster so soon, cash grab for sure.

  • +11

Aside from the debate of cash grabs, whether the Aussie price is fair compared to the US price, etc… This is simply the normal RRP. I don't see the deal.

  • +4

I'm going to get this, but it's not really a deal

  • +2

Meanwhile I am still here waiting for the PC version.

  • +9

    Not a deal

    • +3

      Exactly. Just marketing.

    • -5

its a deal as you are saving $59 dollars rather then paying $79 for retail version.

      • +15

I don't think you understand what a deal is.

The retail version is a disc containing the complete game of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. The full price is $79. What you have posted here is an upgrade for owners of the PS4 version. The full price is $20 - which is what you have posted. Full price.

  • +1

Great story and telling. Abby is a great character and a standout and what happened to her at the end was humbling and heart breaking. Only complaint is the actual gameplay as same with Part 1, is kinda repetitive.

For those that haven't played it, this is a no-brainer and for those that have and enjoyed it, still worth getting just to re-experience the harrowing and distressing story all over again.

  • +3

A far cry from the first game, and the fact that its only been 3 years since the original released appears to be a cheap cash grab. Apart from that, this is full price as well, no bargain.

  • +3

Isn't this rrp? I don't see how this is a deal/bargain when it's full price

  • The PS4 version of TLOU2 has been pretty cheap in the past ie under $20. I don't know if you can still find that price anywhere, but if you can then buying that plus $20 for this upgrade would be a fair bit cheaper than buying the standalone PS5 version.

  • +1

This is a PSA not a deal.

  • It’s got some extra content not just visual and frame rate boosts like most remasters. So it seems fair to charge this price

  • -4

The ps4 disc version was bought for $12

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/746328

On ps5 it’s already looking great at 4k60

An upgrade and some extra content for $20?
Nope… It can wait till it’s down…Much down.

    • +5

People pay $20 for those bloody fortnight and cod skins.
This upgrade is more than worth it if you compare to that.
Also I was lucky enough to get digital edition on PSN for $15 or so. So this $20 upgrade would make the whole game $35 . That's a bargain for me.

    • Nintendo sells a 10 year old game from wii u on the switch for $70: i sleep

Naughty dog sells a $15 remaster that comes with a new game mode: "GRRR TOO MUCH $$$$$" 🤓

  • +2

How many negs are latent reactions to the way Abby strangled that poor burrito in the cafeteria….? Lolz

  • I got the ps4 game on sale ages ago for $20 and never played it, I will get this upgrade and play the ps5 version.

  • -3

isn't this RRP? Wouldn't consider this a deal

  • Got to love how the PS Store lists preorder bonus content against the purchase of the upgrade, but they aren’t making the purchasing available until the launch day.

  • +4

It’s up on the PSN Store now. Have the PS4 disc version, put the “play” disc in and the PS5 upgrade was $15 not $20.

It even gave me the pre-order content (whatever that was)… says it’s Usable under manage game content. Bonus!

    • +1

$15 for me using the play disc as well, not sure if it's a price error or not.

      • +1

$15 for upgrade from my digital PS4 copy, too.

Maybe the original $20 announcement was the mistake. $15 is much more closely aligned to the US$10 charged over there.

  • +1

I paid $15 for digital upgrade

  • o thank go I dont' have to pay another 70 or 80 bucks to get this lol 15 bucks upgrade!! yay

  • +1

then I might actually play it lol

    • it's an excellent game

      • i am glad I don't have to buy the game again lol unlike part one

  • The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered PS5 - DF Tech Review - A Worthy Upgrade?

Not worth the $15 for me. Old version looks nearly identical and I am not interested in the new content.

    • +1

That video proved to me that it was. The 40fps fidelity mode and extra roguelike mode are already wins for me

  • -5

    Biggest cash grab :/

    • +5

$15 is the biggest cash grab??

This has heaps of additional content. It's not just the original game.

    • +3

have you ever looked at nintendo for a brief second?

  • +2

i see allot of Gen z whiners here who'd just because thy have the original product they expect everything that comes after to be free, cant afford the $15 upgrade but wouldnt mind sipping starbucks, bubble tea or boost juice and ask daddy for fancy phones and cars…. talk about privilege kids…

  • When's the upgrade go live ?? Still waiting 5pm Brisbane

    • Was up around 2am this morning (i'm in SA) using my AU account

Unless you're using a UK or US account - may not be live in those regions yet

      • Nope AU can't find the upgrade for the life of me on the PS5 and on the app on phone only see the full price PS5 edition

        • +2

if you have the physical version of TLOU2, you need to enter the disc in PS5 and you should be able to see the price upgrade option

          • @henrikoez: Ah yeah just did that and it dropped to $15 thanks !! time for the 95gb download sign

  • just got this email from Playstation. so $15 could be an error or temporary
