Yoga 7 (14", Gen 8) AMD - Worth Buying?

Hey guys,

I've been looking at the Lenovo Yoga 7 configured with the AMD 7735U, 90Hz OLED display and 1TB SSD and am wondering if anyone has experience with this laptop and can give me an idea of any love/hate they have for the laptop? I haven't been able to find any laptops now with a similar spec for this cheap, if there are better options, please let me know. For this config I'm looking at $1567 with 3 year Premium onsite support (had this previously, been great for when something goes kablooey).

Thanks!

Ive had the 7735 sku with OLED for a while (bought off normal store at a worse price a while back). I really wanted to try an and laptop, but needed USB 4, so it's much physically bigger than I would have liked but it's seemed not many options at the time. I only use mine for productivity so no idea about gaming.

So compared to my previous 4k xps 13, the screen is fantastic, the res is more usable, the battery life is better but not near quoted specs, performance is good, no issues with quality on mine so far.

Negatives outside of size is that I don't like the keyboard layout with hard to use home/end keys, the touchpad feels crap and is more sticky than any other I've used and I didn't bother formatting mine, but default config with win11, the wifi takes literally 30 seconds to come back after sleep which can be annoying.

All in all, pretty good laptop, but personally will buy something smaller next time even if I need to go Intel.

  • Bit late, but I've had the 14" Yoga 7i Gen 7 (12th gen Intel) for about 1.5 years (bought at launch for $1400) - it's been a great device overall, solid battery life (still ~6hrs medium use) and decent performance for everyday stuff. It does get hot when you push it and the small single fan isn't the most robust cooling solution, so you certainly won't be playing any high-end games, but the build quality and overall experience has been good. I'd imagine the AMD variant would have better performance and efficiency, too. Would definitely recommend for a laptop around the $1200 mark, but if you do want to shop around, ASUS Zenbooks are pretty well reviewed in this price bracket too.
