Foam Glider $3.00 Each + Delivery ($0 C&C/ OnePass/ $65 Order) @ Kmart

923

Bought a couple for the kids, but ended up buying a few more for the big kid.

For the price these are robust and fly surprisingly well. Even the 3 year old managed to get his pilot's licence immediately.

Buy now for Mayday Mayday in a few months.

    • This joke flew right over me… must not have the right altitude.

There's also the Big Foam Glider for $10 which is also an excellent buy.

I’ve been throwing the normal version around with my nephew for 6 months and ALL of this time we could’ve been operating this beast?

Kmart closes in 22 minutes, I can still make it.

      • +1 For playing with nephew 😃

  • There was one stuck in my neighbour's gutter.

    • +1

Did you report it to CASA?

Beware, these have been intentionally designed and purposely made to be attracted to trees and roofs. The dodgy things companies do these days to make more money.

    • +3

I heard they even go as far as to pay certain mums to make kids with crooked hands

    • Also they seem to fly towards (and over) fences

      • +2

i can validate this. i had 3, and now i have none. it was fun for 1 minute though until we lost all of them on the 1st throw :(

      • +1

Even better bargain, I can just wait till the neighbour buys them. Delivered to my home free! ;-)

    • +1

I think they are also made to attract other objects. Oliver Jefffers wrote a book about a similar situation. Youtube read aloud here. Great kids book. I love most of Oliver Jeffers' stuff.

    • +1

Can confirm. I went to an open field. My second toss, it got stuck in a tree. Took me 45 minutes of throwing tree branches at the tree to get it down because my toddler was crying for the plane back.

      • +4

That’s why you bring a drone to knock it out of the tree.

And then you have a backup drone for when the main drone gets stuck.

When they both get stuck you go home with a foam glider and $1000 in drone parts.

      • Lucky the tree branches are free (for now).

  • +11

Is this not the normal price?

    • +5

This is the normal price… at least as far as I know? I’ve bought probably around 20 of them over last 6 months alone..

    • +2

I think this is the normal price at K-mart. However other places are selling these for much more which to me suggests this a bargain. In terms of online sellers/sales this (K-mart) item is only a few cents dearer but offset by the convenience of getting it immediately at your local and/or returning it if the situation arises.

  • would this be ok for park? far away from trees/houses

    • We flew it in the driveway and it went pretty straight and true. I think it would fly well in an open space (oval) with little to no breeze. I imagine a stronger breeze will be able to carry it farther depending on flight and wind direction.

    • +7

First time we flew one of these, in a large open spaced park, after about the 4th throw, it caught a pocket of wind and went up and up and up. We watched it fly off into the far distance at great height. So they fly really well!! My little boy ran after it crying till it was out of sight never to be seen again. Very traumatic but entertaining at the same time!

We love these planes! Such a good and cheap gift for kids of all ages (and adults too!). We have so many spares in the cupboard.

  • +5

    Aren't these always $3.00?

I recall buying them for the kids last year

    • +2

I buy them for 2 dollars at Dollar World.

      • +10

        Something doesn’t add up there.

        • report them for being misleading!

      • sweet, i know where one is, i will stop by and get some now.

    • I can get them for $3 from my local discount shop too as the normal price.

  • +4

Used to be $2 a few years ago. Damn inflation /s. But they are super fun. Can muck around with extra weight (e.g. a coin) where the wing slots into the body if you're a budding aerospace engineer.

  • +2

They're always $3 so no bargain. But they are nice and thick. Pretty safe from damage for 5yo+

  • +1

RRP there is no bargain here

    • +5

Your upvote, whilst confusing, is much appreciated.

  • Saw these in Aldi on clearance for $9 (Might be the bigger one). Almost bought, then saw $3 in a Kmart catalog.

  • is the door gonna blow up on this one? thanks

  • Not a deal. Its the usual price at kmart.

    • +8

Has however brought this excellent value product to the attention of the OB community…

      • -1

Hmm. Not to disrespect the op or the deal. This is not an awareness portal. There are lot of other items which are priced $3 and under and unique and fun to play with. But this is ozbargain - a place for deals.

Also I have these for my kids and i can vouch its amazing to play with it.

        • Can you let me know what other things entertain kids for $3.

I have a 1 and 2.5 yr old. Happy to pay!
Daycare is $150/day. Surely they cant lose 50 in 1 day…

        • +2

ozzyoi, I take umbrage at your lack of respect of my post and demand immediate and complete satisfaction!

I shall not be denied and challenge you to a duel at the field of Failed Bargains tomorrow at dawn, whereupon we shall stand 20 paces apart and hurl foam gliders at each other until all our stocks are depleted or you, Sir, yield!

Pro Tip 1 - Exercise caution if you have younger kids and pets around.

These can be a choking hazard due to metal ball (as seen in ball bearings) at the front of the plane.

    https://www.kidspot.com.au/news/found-out-the-hard-way-mums-…

Pro Tip 2 - Flip the rear wing as forward facing instead of rear as pictured on the box, the plane will glide over a longer distance.

  • +1

+1 for your 3 year old getting his license!

  • +1

I got headshotted by this multiple times during our recent beach trip. :D

  • +1

Been flying one of these at the local oval with my now 4.5-year-old since he was 3. Good for running around. Proud to say we still have the original one. It's a red (goes faster). They have always cost $3.

  • +1

Normal price, has been for ages.

  • These are a LOT of fun for the kids.

There are 2 slots for the horizontal stabiliser, one flies straight, the other will make the plane fly upwards and ultimately do a loop.

Please be careful as I have had to visit the roof a couple of times.

These also make great birthday party bag stuffers.

  • +1

Thanks for the awareness but these are always $3.

  • My kids love these. For that reason I'm giving this an upvote.

  • This looks fun, I'm going to check it out. Thanks OP !
