Faucet Water Hammer

My faucet has been making knocking water hammer noises whenever it's 70% opened or even less than that if opened quicker, how much do you think it'll cost to get a plumber to fix ? I don't think I can go down there to see myself what's wrong.

  • Did you used to have a flow restrictor in the tap that you at some point removed?

$420 for 20 minutes plus the home owner needs to clean up the mess they leave.

Plus the required $69 service fee.

Doesn't water hammer usually happen when you turn a tap off?

  • It's knocking sound when turning on the tap

    • This is not water hammer, it is most likely shuddering pipes.
It is easy to fix IF access is reasonable. You can also try a water pressure reducing valve

      • How to fix it?

        • ask Bob
          .

  • Hi there,

I had to get this fixed 4 times. Its due to the mixer being turned on and off so suddenly.

    • water arrestor
    • changed taps in laundry
    • something installed in the roof for pipes
    • soemthing else was done and i cant remember

    Hope that helps you x

I had this problem when the tap washer was getting jammed, after time washers can deform and get stuck in the tap.
