    Oh damn

This dude had 2k of preorders with them allegedly

The last deal was $100 spend get $50 back , if that ain’t a red flag idk what is.

    • +4

They did bogof even from few years ago and did frequent deals, so spend $100 get $50 was not unusual.

      • dats crazy - either the markups were crazy or ..idk? What other reason could there be? Not like this mob would have been getting huge supplier rebates to help write off stock seasonally.

        • his markups on the games were definitely enough to cover those deals if he sold them any other time.
There were some games he sold at $89 or sometimes higher, that were selling for $69 elsewhere.
The sales were the ONLY reason I bought from him.

      They have done better before.

  • Please tell me you paid via PayPal op

    • +1

      Paid via Zip.

They still fulfilled my order on 27/12 interestingly…

  • I have enrolled in their get rich quick course. So far so good

    • Are you rolling in $$$ or shit?

  • Oh damn.

  • +1

I have about $300 in outstanding orders with them, they fulfilled an order back in November even. This sucks.

    • +2

The owner even still responded to online reviews late December. I had order on 27/12 that was actually fulfilled and was about to place another order a couple days ago but stopped and emailed them when I couldn't choose pickup.

  • Thanks for posting this, I have some pending pre-orders. I did receive orders with their deals previously..

There's some discussion and info here, if it helps.

    • +1

Thanks. I don't get the logic, the owner's name is everywhere, he can't run away…

      This is interesting.
The owner, Nathan Gosnall, has closed DX Collectables and quietly opened an eBay store under a different name: https://www.ebay.com.au/usr/gameswapau

      • run away

What? Yes he can? Contractors and business owners do it all the time …admittedly the government has made moves to try and make it harder

I received an email from them this Tuesday. wtf

Already raised a case with ACCC for this, suggest those affected do the same. Start Paypal disputes and get Paypal to step in for a forced refund for the orders that you can. Do CC chargebacks/contact CC company/Fraud division and claim what you can asap. Keep all email communications and proof of all orders to provide for all claims made.

ACCC claims do work against fraudsters like this but it will take some time. Goodluck to all of us involved in this debacle.

    • Thanks for the advice, I'm also affected and this situation is certainly not how I wanted to begin my year with. I'm about to dispute my outstanding orders on Paypal, just wanted to ask what you'd put as the issue type for unreleased preorders? "Item hasn't reached me" asks for the expected delivery date and not sure if "order cancelled by seller" covers seller disappearing from the internet.

@Ashurei you can refer to this Paypal dispute article

You need to report a problem under every DX transaction in your paypal statements. It definitely falls under "Issues with the Seller: (a seller is not co-operating and doesn’t respond to your messages, or you're simply unable to reach an agreement)".

I would also send "[email protected]" an email requesting a cancellation and refund of all your pre-orders, and use that as proof that you tried to reach out but they are not responding.

Then you escalate the dispute to a "CLAIM" with Paypal which is a more powerful version as it forces the seller to respond within 10 days or the case is automatically sorted and in the Buyers favour, in this case, us. State that the site is down, socials are down, and the seller has no intention of fulfilling your order in the "CLAIM" part, there will be many times you get to explain your case with Paypal as there are always questions to describe the situation.

  • Seems like the website is completely gone now, doesn't redirect to the main page. I'm hoping PayPal can quickly dispute my claim and refund me, I was really hoping to receive my pre-ordered items

  • I just had to file 27 disputes on my card because I paid for pre-orders with them via partial.ly and apparently partially can't refund at all.
    What a pain.

    Now to report them.

Edit: reported to ACCC and filed fairtrading complaint

This sucks. I used to always order from them for the past 2 years and they've always delivered, especially when they had a crazy BOGOF and $100 coupon for every $100 spent deal previously.

  • +1

The address he appears to live at can be found by looking up his ABN. Doubt he can get away. Was afraid this would happen since the company was a one-man-show.

  • I got a $100 gift card like a month ago, any recourse there or shit out of luck?

    • I think you're shit out of luck. No way to use it anymore :(

  • Surprised to see this. They're actually pretty good and have really decent deals. Been shopping with them for sometime too.
Yellow flag though was last Dec ordered some stuff then they didnt deliver till early Jan. Didnt think much cause Xmas and NY. Next min thought of browsing and they closed down?

  • I have 3 outstanding order with 6 items totalling $1500 with them, all PayPal transactions. The earliest one was 23/01/23 when they had the BOGOF sale, which was too late to lodge a dispute with PayPal.

    • Exactly the same with me!

I spoke to paypal and they said nothing they can do as its over 180 days and to contact my bank to do a chargeback. Currently waiting to hear back from my bank.

You are receiving this email because you have at least one unfulfilled order with DX Collectables.

It is with great sadness that I Nathan Gosnell owner of DX Collectables must share I have been made bankrupt as of 9 January 2024. I hoped to provide you with this news earlier but was advised not to. The Australian Financial Security Authority is in charge of my assets and will contact you as a creditor in my bankruptcy to advise next steps. If you wish to make contact with them first you can do so via their website www.afsa.gov.au. As a creditor in my bankruptcy, it is a legal offence to seek payment from me. All claims must be directed to the Australian Financial Security Authority.

This is not the outcome I hoped for and I am deeply sorry to everyone affected. Thank you to all who supported DX Collectables over the last 3 and a half years. For a short time, I was living my dream but a decline in sales made it impossible to continue.

    Regards,

    Nathan Gosnell

    • There are just a lot of lies in this statement. Totally lost any respect I had.

Those things he sold during the sale and are selling on his ebay store should be part of creditors' pools in liquidation scenario.

      • +3

Apparently AFSA wasn't even aware he is selling off assets (statues, cards, games etc) on a separate ebay account after the bankruptcy.
Just got off the phone with them and have emailed them evidence.
Doubt many people will see a cent though.

Personally, sad to see another independent store go. I'd only had really positive interactions with them in the past. Luckily I only had a small preorder with them, so I'm not too bad out of pocket.

    • If they can't fulfil your order then they must have been drop shipping anyway.

    • +2

I thought this was about dealextreme, but it looks like they went out of business too

Wow. The original online $2 store. Haven't visited in years.

  • So how do we claim for our unfulfilled orders?

  • Sorry to see them go under. I was super excited to have discovered them during the BOGOF sale last September. For anyone affected I would suggest pursuing a chargeback with your bank or credit card organisation. https://www.afca.org.au/coronavirus-covid-19-pandemic-suppor….
