Any good for hiking or is this more of a work boot?

    • +2

It's a combat boot, and as with all combat boots, they're designed for soldiers to "ruck" in all day in all types of terrain. I'm sure you can extrapolate if they're good for hiking :-P
A quick google search shows them to be pretty well reviewed.

      • +1

I feel like some people who wear these think they are an SAS soldier or something. But if they are made for that, they really are likely to be great hiking shoes. Never done rucking but when done over long distances in a rough terrain, looks to be brutal.

        • +6

Was thinking about buying some for mowing the lawns as they seem lightweight and easy to move in. Would prefer the black ones but they are $20 more so I didn't.

Now ozb is showing me Army Recruitment ads.

Not steel cap, so mind your toes, and employer (if applicable) may not accept.

    • More of a work/duty boot. Source: I've done some 'rucking' in my time per ASR-Briggs comment.

      • Me too. Been extremely happy with my Merrell MQC 2 Tacticals, but always good to have a spare pair. Grabbed one.
Edit: I've tried Bates, Garmont, and whatever garbo the ADF issued in the late 2000s. The Merrells have been the best by far. Bates started falling apart <1 month.

    • They don't say they are waterproof, but I guess it depends when and where you hike.

      • +1

Everyone has different ideas behind waterproof vs non waterproof for hiking and as you said it truly comes down to circumstantial differences and preference, there isn't a right or wrong.

      • +1

They are not waterproof and are very slippery on wet surfaces.

    • +1

Just make sure your break them in before hiking.

  • It's not built for crazy long multi day hikes but more than capable for day hiking,

I would agree it lends its self a little more into the tactical category though.

  • Got any black ones on sale?

    • +1
      • do these ever go on sale for $80? I'm tempted.

        • +2

At this stage it’s not likely If I’m being honest we will probably sell through the black at $99 in the next day or two.

Keep an eye on the clearance tab though because sometime the boss goes crazy… just not likely on the black micro g’s.

        • +1

use code 7VREP4JK9T for 5 bucks off (95 total) (i purchased for 100 bucks and got this code in the email receipt)

          • @Some Random Guy: thanks, with 5% cashback should be $89.70.

I also got the same code for $5 off after purchasing so looks like it's not targeted.

            • @closed: TopCashBack tracked but was $0 cashback. I put in a claim but not expecting much after reading other people's problem with them.

Kind of new to using CB offers but have never had any major problems with the other 2 unlike TopCashBack. Multiple eBay purchases not tracking, the one eBay that tracked was a $160 purchase that tracked as $6 with 15 cents cashback.

  • i wish they were steel cap

    • +2

I wish I had a steel cap shoe to offer you but I don't sorry mate.

Anyone know how the fit/ sizing compares to solomon & adidas?

    True to size etc

    • +1

Very true to size, slightly wider than salomon but not much

  • @Rob M Do you sell wide toe box shoes? Thanks

    • +2

Sure do, I'll give you the short long…

There are a few brands really well know for having wide Toe Box's, and they all have slightly different quirks about them….

      https://www.wildearth.com.au/brand/Altra

Altra are probably best known in the wide toe box world, all of there shoes are zero drop, not sure if you are familiar with the term but it means the amount of shoe between you and the road is the same in the heel as it is at the ball of the foot, most shoes have between a 4-12mm difference.

      https://www.wildearth.com.au/brand/Topo-Athletic

Topo are similar to Altra in fit, but a bit more stiff in construction and hav a 4mm drop on most models.

Then there are wider brands in general like keen or merrell, as well as certain shoes coming in a wide varient

and then the final wide toe box category of minimalist shoes, where there is next to zero foam under your foot, most of these shoes try to mimic being barefoot without actually being barefoot.

      Xero, Vibram, vivobarefoot ect

  • Good for snowy ground?

  • A shame the black toes can't be polished up.
It would be good for Navy.

    • Always a specific dress code violation hey, so close.

      • I have a pair of Under armour zip boots but they aren't the micro G. So not as comfy.
        They have the Polishable toe.

  • OP, do you have the Euro equivalent sizing?

I don't ever follow AUKUS because it can vary still but I find Euro to alwaysbe dead on. I can fit most 44 sockless, and 44.5 normally if the shoes are TTS.

    • I'd say 10-10.5

Plus we have a great returns policy if you they aren't the right size.

      • How did you know I was a they/them?

Thank you for acknowledging my non-existant pronouns. I'll definitely be making an order. 😁

Hahaha thanks for picking up on my fantastic capacity to proof read my own comments at night… Must be getting close to bed time now.

Let me know if you have any other questions and enjoy your weekend. :)

          • @Rob M: Haha, nah, you're all good, thanks for the prompt reply! Will try and snap up a a pair early next week closer to when I return back in town. Thanks buddy, have a good weekend!

          • @Rob M: Goddammit, I snoozed and I lose-d.

If you find a spare one out back in my size, please let me know. I'll pay for it straight away, I just would rather it be delayed in shipping.. 😅

            • +1

              @WasBargain: Sorry @WasBargain

              These ones flew!

Our stock is normally pretty accurate but on Monday Morning when I get into the office I'll make sure the warehouse double check on 10s or 10.5s for you.

I'll shoot you a message if I find any.

              Cheers,

              Rob

              • @Rob M: You are a legend, thanks buddy! ❤️

                Hope you're having/had a great weekend anyway! 😊

              • @Rob M: Guessing you didn't find any @Rob M? 😪

Really dug the colourway, I might have to settle for black at $93ish from your eBay store otherwise.. 😪

                • +1

@WasBargain: Sorry Mate, all of the 10s and 10.5s are accounted for.

Hope you rock the black ones anyway.

                  • @Rob M: Sorry for the late reply, thanks for checking!

I grabbed a black pair from the eBay store almost right after you sent this message.

Still kicking myself I missed them in the tan though, they look sweet, like proper military boots!

  • Any chance of the 9.5s being restocked OP?

    • +1

I don't think there is a restock happening on these sorry, I'll edit the response if that changes.

  • OOS for US 13, any more going to be added or was that it?

    • I don't think there is a restock happening on these sorry, I'll edit the response if that changes.

  • +5

I'm not going to pick up a pair of these because I'm not an Under Armour fan but I've voted up this one purely because of the responsiveness of the OP in answering all the questions people have, good job!

    • Thanks Zulu!

      Appreciate your upvote,

Hope you have a great weekend and get the chance to hit the outdoors.

      Rob

      • Hey mate, I noticed a weird glitch when adding shoes to cart. The first time I add a pair to cart it will add a random size, then I remove that from cart and add my size again then it will add the correct size. This actually resulted in me ordering an incorrect size for one of you previous deals but luckily that size ended up fitting. But i was ready for the glitch this time. It added 7.5 to cart when I chose 11.

        • So Sorry for this,

Thanks for letting me know I will pass the message onto my customer service team and have them look into the glitch.

          Rob

  • Will these be okay for motorbike riding..?

    • +2

They’re a high cut boot so in my opinion you would have a very hard time getting them off the foot even if you were in an accident which is something you want, any low or mid rise shoes will simply fly off.

They’re also made of a durable material so they should be good, the one place you’d get excess wear is on your shifter toe, I imagine you’d end up with a hole pretty quickly, personally my hack is to glue a piece of tough fabric to the part of the shoe where you get contact, then just replace the patch as it wears.

      • Thanks for your reply mate…
        Nice trick

      • Proper moto boots have plates/hinged frames for shin and ankle protection, limiting range of motion. I personally would not accept substitutes.

        • Yeah there's plenty of cheap moto boots available if price is the issue. Aldi ones are solid

  • Late to the party, missed it.
Have a pair of these and can vouch for their comfort. Do rate.

  • +1

I think this boot is reviewed here if anyone is interested

A great channel to check before buying any boots

  • @Rob M do you guys stock the black waterproof leather zip up Under Armour ones? Been trying to track some down for over 4 months and they are never in stock anywhere.

    • +1

@Ashmattic Sorry not something we have stocked,
Under Armour has a real cult like following in the US and their market is huge which means their line up is quite broad.

This leads to this issue that you're running into, where certain shoes might make it for a year then disappear or simply never make it to our market.

We have lots of amazing boots and an incredible team so if you ever want to try something new, take a trip into one of our stores and we will get you in a bunch of different options.
