Omg that's my dream set but I don't have space for it :(

    Cheapest ever

BNTL, Buy Now Think Later. 😝

Cheers OP! 6 weeks looking for this kit through Asia and it was sold out everywhere. Bargain and dont habe to lug it home!

    • +1

I was looking for Wing Zero Custom too last month when I was in Japan, couldn’t find it anywhere. Was just going to buy the RX78 from Gundam Factory instead, but the size and weight of it made me change my mind! So yeah I agree, shipping it is so much more convenient.

      • +1

Yeah the Wing PG is no where to be found in major Gundam retailers in:

        Tokyo, Kyoto or Osaka
        South Korea (Seoul and Busan)
        Singapore
        KL
        Jakarta
        Surabaya
        Bali

        Trust me, we looked!

We did bring back a factory RX78 but shipped it. There's some great vids on YT on how to break down Gunpla to get max in suitcases. But we had LCC flight and couldn't fit it in 🙄

KL though has a stupid level of stock availability. Singapore isnt too bad either if you head to Chinatown. Also good for Warhammer.

        • Oh damn should’ve done that too. I actually did break down my figures boxes into my suitcase and hand carry the figures themselves last time. Oh well.

  • Crazy that it's a 23+ year old kit now.

    • This was a $300+ set back in the days.

      • And now pretty much at its ¥15,000 rrp.

        • You are not wrong there

  • Cheap!!

  • +1

Bought this way back in late 2000s early 2001. for around $200AUD shipped. thought it was a bargain back then. All metal frame skeleton btw and the eyes/chest light up with internal battery circuit. The box is massive and heavy due to all the metal parts.

  • How hard is this to build? And are the instruction in English or Japanese?

    • +1

Mostly visual guides for building the Gundam, akin to Ikea manuals. From memory, there are a couple of booklets in Japanese, one is about the thought process during designing and some facts from the Anime. Can always google translate that. In terms of difficulty, took me a few weeks to build super casually, I was taking my time, but some parts are pretty tricky and hard to figure out from the diagram. But honestly not that difficult..

  • The price seems too good to be true, has anyone bought Gundams from Amazon Japan before? How’s experience? Thanks OP for sharing though!

    • +1

Bought many times from Amazon JP. Solid experience, they are fairly fast to ship to Australia (about a week to Sydney) and are packed well.

    • +1

I’ve bought many items from Japan including hario glasswares. Arrived safely, their packaging is pretty good.

    • +4

These gundam pre orders have been hit and miss recently. So don't get too disappointed if it eventually gets cancelled.

      • Yep I've had pre-ordered cancelled a couple of times now.

    • +1

I bought a few HGs and one Full Mechanics.

Shipping was excellent, way better than AU. Amazon AU just sent me a kit in a padded envelope, so the box got a little dinged up.

Amazon JP sent it in a box, with a plastic wrap that kept the box stuck to the bottom so it didn't rattle around or get damaged.

    • +1

The only time they cancel my order is when the stock is low by the time I ordered it. They haven't yet cancelled my orders when I pre ordered them early. Got 3 of the PG from the previous deal, thought the price was too good be true as well.

      • Have they shipped this order for you yet?

  • What do you do with this?

      • Is that all your vocab mate?

        • -6

          landfill

    • The usual modsl kit things.

      • -8

so waste your money and then throw it out after a few years?

        • -3

That’s what I thought, but apparently people with racing car beds leave them out on display

    • Display really.

Look, Gunpla isnt my thing. It's my kids. But after seeing the inside of so many Gundam Base stores, I get the attraction. They are well made kits that are relatively easy to construct, enjoyable to build and look nice at the end. Compared to Warhammer, I much prefer this if all youre after is the end product (not game play).

I purchased this as I first saw it at the Tokyo store and it blew me away. I dont watch Gundam or play Evo but this model wow. Compared to the MG, it just looked schmick. I think, from memory, there's a titanium version 🤔 but it's a nightmare to get.

I figure this'll look great in my study in my background during online meetings 🤣

  • Are U guys serious?
Wing Zero is worst PG in Bandai history

    • +3

You might wanna look at that statement again with the PG Eva Unit 1 mate.

This kit is old and no doubt about it. The construction is akin to a HG with innerframe and some screws but it is nowhere near the worst PG in Bandai history. OOB it will look quite bland due to the lack of details but you can always learn how to airbrush or if you can't bothered just commission it to someone who can.

I've built plenty of Gunpla for the past 8 years and I've seen much worse. So stop hyperinflating and relax. At this price this is a very good deal.

      • Been thinking of moving up to PG from MGs and RGs for a while. Any recommendations for a good PG kit (other than this one)?

        • +2

PG Strike. Most posable and fun PG to handle. If you can find a cheap Exia go for one as well.

PG Astray is basically PG Strike but with limited mobility but if you liked Gundam with katana then can't go wrong with that one either.

Or the best PG: RX78-2 Unleased.

          • +1

@Grey 13: Thanks very much, appreciate the guidance! I much prefer the 'simpler' gundam you recommended over the winged ones. Will keep a look out for these on sale.

      • I bought the PG Unit 1, kind of regret it, but it was only ¥10,000

One day I may even build it

        • Same situation after I saw that rubber suit..

  • I have seen a few of these posted but not sure what they are. Is it a toy that you give to kids, like the ninja turtle figurines from back in the day?

    • +2

It’s a model kit made up of little parts which are assembled into what you see pictured. This is a PG (perfect grade) which are generally more detailed with a larger number of parts in comparison to smaller kits. There are entry grade kits which are catered towards beginners and potentially more suitable for younger kids.

      • Thanks. Are these characters from a Japanese inspired cartoon like pokemon?

        • +2

Yes from a series called Gundam. Soap opera in space with giant Mobile Suit (MS) between the "good guy" Earth Federation and the "bad guy" Zeon Principality. Quotation marks because both of these sides did horrible things throughout the series.

You've got the main timeline Universal Century and then a bunch of alternative timeline. This kit in this deal belongs to one of those which is the After Colony timeline. Basic premise still stayed the same: two big players butting heads in wars and people finding their ways to navigate around it.

Now just need to find a similiar priced Voltron set.

Think it was 1992 as a child that i would've sold my left nut for one.

    • Yep… I grew up watching Voltron and mazinger z

  • Can someone please recommend if I will need any specific tools to build this? This is going to be my first build and possibly the only (who knows).

    • +1

You will need a nipper to cut the parts out of the runners.
Tamiya Sharp Point Side Cutter https://amzn.asia/d/bVS3EGE

Then use a glass file or sanding sticks to clean the nubs. After that you might want to panel line, apply water decals (better than stickers) then top coat.

I recommend buying a cheap HG kit to familiarise yourself.

      • Thank you for the reply. I had to do some research into what you have mentioned. Would you happen to know if this model has the water decal (?stickers) included or do I have to purchase separately? Also, what's the down side of just putting on stickers? Do they just look not as good or do they fall off after a few years? Cheers!

        • +3

I think this kit doesn't come with any stickers. It is a personal preference if you want to apply the decals or not. Below you can see how it looks with the decals applied.

          https://m.delpidecal.com/product/pg-wing-zero-custom-water-d…

As to stickers vs water decals, stickers has borders and is quite thick where as with water decals they are very thin and once you spray top coat over it, the border doesn't stand out.

Hope that helps! I've just started the hobby in June 2023 so by no means an expert! I have recently applied water decals and spray top coat on this kit.

          • @kurusawa: Thank you! Somehow I prefer the simple (empty) looking rather than the extras. Looks like another black hole if someone is really diving into this :P

  • +1

For all those wanting to buy this, just a warning - its 20+ year technology so isn't built the best in terms of joints etc - tends to be what we call a hand grenade (falls apart at the slightest touch)

    Party over? Price to $400+

  • +1

Back in stock at previous price, if anyone missed it. Mine still hasn't been dispatched.

  • +1

Price dropped to 167.61, i just reordered and cancelled original. Hopefully causes no issues.

  • It’s been going in and out of stock at the new lower price as mentioned by akiratetsuo, quite bizarre. Has anyone’s order been shipped out yet?

    • I had a estimated delivery date range of Feb 25 to Mar 3 or something on the first order, but I've still not had anything on the new order. Suspect this is a preorder, but not marked as such.

  • Mine just shipped, so they do have stock
