Celsius 9kg Dual Handle Medicine Ball $39.99 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Rebel

160

Was looking to integrate some functional strength and cardio work in the way of medicine/slam ball work and probably battle ropes. This deal from last year is still going surprisingly. The rebel attendant was surprised it was so cheap considering the rest of the weights are way more expensive.

Looked at it in store before buying and thought for $39.99 it’s great value compared to some of the no name balls some Ali baba importers bring in .

Seems like a very good deal considering the same product at 10kg is $120.

Because the 10kg is gluten free 👍

    Grabbed one thanks

I'm tempted to buy this but I know it will probably sit there unused just like my unopened skipping rope that I bought a year or more ago.

I can probably just use my dumb bell if I need something similar.

I prob wouldn’t feel comfortable slamming my dumbbells on the ground… but yeah I guess.

      • I was thinking more for Russian twists or goblet squats

        • True

I already have a set of kettlebells 10-24kg

Can recommend for goblet squats but love kettlebell swing circuits if you’re looking for an option for a fitness equipment with multiple use.

Lol - hard to beat skipping for core and cardio, if thats unopened this will be a door stop :)

      • +2

Is $40 for a door stop not a bad price?

        • Well maybe thats a way to look at it, paper weight, door stop, those weights you drop to ascend in a hot air balloon!

I have tried on and off for years but god damn my coordination for skipping is horrible lol

        • +2

Me too…its taken a year and i can do 100 skips without stopping with a 50% stuff up rate. Doubles, x-overs, tricks maybe in 2024 ;)

          • @hoxygt: I think I subconsciously am low key scared I will whip my knees something fierce haha

The key is to leave it in a convenient place. E.g. my chin up bars are on the upstairs landing. I walk past it multiple times a day and will use at lease once a day.

A slam ball is in the lounge room (I don't slam it on the floor); dip bars are in the dining room at the moment; we also have an indoor adjustable monkey bar in the dining room for the kids to climb on, hang on, and for us to do body weight exercises.

    • Buy a bag of rice

If you don't need it immediately, Aldi sell a 9kg Crane slam ball for $20; on clearance it's $10, as a special buy.

This Celsius might be more functional with the handles - e.g. can double up as a kettle bell, but if you only need a slam/medicine ball, have a look at Aldi if convenient.

    • I haven’t seen them at my two local Aldi but if you can find it, that’s a great buy.

  • Well… Unsure how good this deal is. You can get a cast iron kettlebell for the price. Soft weight like that should be cheaper.

    • As someone who also has kettlebells, different use case scenario. Can’t slam kettlebells into the ground or bounce them off the wall. (I mean you can, but prob not good for the kettlebell or the wall/floor)

      • I expected you would say that and even wanted to add initially "I do understand they are intended to be used differently, but there soft kettlebells which are used with the same manufacturing as those slam ballls which are usually cheaper than cast iron weight" so it is more related to the manufacturing/value than the use. I do not suggest to replace medicine ball with a kettllebell simply use it as a price reference" but then I thought I would be sucking eggs and did not include that.

        • Honestly didn’t realise soft kettlebells were a thing honestly lol

If you can get them cheap then yeah sounds good… but I kinda would think 10kg and up might be a bit funny for swings as the sand (?) would prob be shifting around a lot..
