Member when the Beyonetta voice actor threw away her career because of her low pay? Then Jennifer Hale, a voice acting circuit pro, steps in no problem and takes the role. Feel like every day is a slow news day in the gaming world, except when new hardware or a new GTA launches.
It wasn't low pay, she lied about being paid too low when she was paid a reasonable amount but she wanted more and never came to agreement. Then she tried to twist the narrative in her favour for everyone to boycott the game when it got backfired after the investigative article came out.
It was fairly low, but she was hardly an ambassador for the series. If she treats the gig like a generic recording session then she shouldn't have been surprised if she was paid as such for it when a new game came up because she wasn't irreplaceable, she wasn't the face of the series. The Mario voice actor doesn't even do the voice in games anymore but Nintendo are still paying him because he kinda is Mario now from all the promotion he's done.
10k for five days work or whatever she was offered is pretty good and the series boosted her career more than she helped boost the series profile. What does she have without Bayonetta, nothing at all. It was her foot in the door to become someone like Jennifer Hale.

My favourite part of the story was when even some industry insiders said that her pay was technically in line with industry standards for the amount of work involved ($4,000 for 5 days of work), even if it seems to be on the low side.
… Then it turns out that the "low" offer was actually a ridiculously generous offer just for a cameo role (that they still offered her as an olive branch), not the starring one.
@pj1351: The starring role was hers if she wanted it. Then the olive branch role offered later, she refused it all. They really didn't need her though, no one even knew who she was. If David Hayter and Hideo Kojima himself can be replaced, then whatever her name was can certainly be replaced with no issue at all.
I find Hale's work a poor replacement in much the same way I don't enjoy Troy Baker's knockoff Hamill Joker performances. Such hired gun imitations tend to preclude any real spin on delivery since they're either directed to sit in the pocket established by the previous actor or do it of their own volition. For Bayo3 the particular trouble was Hale wrestling with an uncomfortable milquetoast posh Brit accent and delivering with hardly any variety in tonality and none of the edge. This was probably unavoidable due to it being a rush job and having scant voice direction since the Hellena Taylor was reportedly given carte blanche and did most of it with minimal direction. Bayonetta isn't the same without that wacky English cooker and her waspish bite and varied delivery. It's a real shame she couldn't control herself - personally I wonder whether Kamiya's infamous manners resulted in an unstoppable force immovable object escalation - still, it isn't relevant to the unhinged idiotic fun of Bayonetta 1.

Even better! Assuming you finished the main game, Celeste has a huge modding scene, you definitely have to check out the recently released Strawberry Jam mod.
I loved Celeste. Bounced off it the first time I tried playing it but then I gave it another go later and it clicked for me then. Recommended.
The content is good, but people who have been keeping up with specials and bundles like me own almost of them them, except Sprawl. For me, it's not a deal just for a game that is $22 AUD on Steam now. I'm not sure how I would go about selling the rest of the keys for money (Ebay doesn't allow it).
Someone tell me how to stop buying these bundles.
When you find out let me know… I checked my order history after this one and I realised I had 4 previous purchases which I didn't redeem… my Steam and GOG library now has an extra 49 games to catch up on!
I have none of these games in steam but I am pretty sure Celeste and Borderlands have been free on epic and I still want to buy this.
