What is the weight of the bag?

    • This. With any travel luggage is you very much want lightweight but sturdy materials. JULY not specifying the weight is an absolute travesty.

Take a look at celebrated one-bag companies that focus on purposeful carrying such as Peak Design, AER SF and others.
      They all typically have:
      - ripstop as lightweight tear-proof materials
      - reinforced padding on handles so it doesn't hurt your hands or arms carrying
      - waterproof zippers
      - soft-lined areas to protect screens of mobiles/tablets
      - proper carabiners with kgs of weight support

It's appalling that this JULY bag is asking to be in the same price category.

      • I think they are trying to be more of a posh brand. Focusing on premium feel rather than premium function. Bag would be fine to chuck behind the seats of your Koenigsegg but no good for flying.

Yep. Style over substance. You can have both but not from this brand from what I can gather. It's entrepreneurs coming in 'hey how can I make money?' rather than designers or engineers trying to solve problems.

If you want something beautiful that's local, Bellroy is a good choice as they at least they try to have functional aspects that make sense eg. they have a lightweight range and reinforced padding typically. Mad respect to their designers for Melbourne aesthetic too.

            what's "Melbourne aesthetic"?

          anything wrong with that?

true, but also not necessarily - depends upon how one rates different desirable features/benefits, which can conflict and vary

if weight is a priority, then a bag made of cotton, such as this July one, would likely not be chosen
