Ordered the 13 piece at the $269.10 price on the 3rd of Jan. Only shipped out yesterday :/ They have to be the slowest online retailer I have purchased from in over 10 years.

These might be the world's best or worst knives, but what i hate is them being advertised as "German stainless-steel blades".
It means nothing without knowing what grade or type of stainless.

Germany might make awesome knives with a good type/grade or make complete useless crap with a bad type/grade.

I wouldn't buy from anyone that can't specify what the grade is and always assume it to be rubbish steel.

    Edit: Supposedly 5cr15MoV

is that good or bad grade?

      • The Chinese version of German standard X50cr15MoV

Trading in on the name they made for themselves in multicookers, then trying to pivot into knives with sets priced higher than well established brands, using gimmicks like knife blocks with sharpeners built in.

Just buy the two or three kitchen knives you're actually gonna use, get them from a decent brand, use a steel between cooking sessions and have them sharpened by a professional if you don't want to do it yourself. It'll be cheaper and better.

My advice to those that love to cook and find joy in mise en plus, build your own knife set over time and learn to sharpen with whetstone, this will make cutting/chopping much more enjoyable.
For the rest this is still a good price, not value wise but as a package and its aesthetic.

    LOL 'Ninja'
    - you don't need a 'block' of knives, just buy a good chefs knife, utility knife & cheaparse serrated knife. Spend decent $$$ on a system to sharpen & hone them to suits your skill level.

    • any knife that doesn't specifically state the alloy of steel used is likely generic level at best.

    • good knife maintenance & cutting technique will be far more meaningful to the average home user than even the best hand made damascus clad gyuto costing thousands. Take care of your knives and they will take care of you. :-)

      Completely agree

  • Be aware that the block is very large…
