Podcasts to follow for discovering new music?

Howdy y'all lovely folks

Been listening to the Ricky Gervais' podcast again in my car recently, mostly for the shenanigans from the trio, but I've forgotten that they play a good range of oldies and some more obscure songs which I'd otherwise never come across by myself.

Is there a podcast that does a lot of music discovery you can recommend? I'm not fussed on genre but would prefer a spectrum of genres instead of a focused few. I've Spotify but the "smart shuffle recommendation" is quite lackluster and have pretty much cycled through everything by now.

Thanks!

Apple Music One and Apple Hits radio stations play new a hit music. Obviously mostly the songs you already know and love, but some DJs play some lesser known stuff. I think they are free to listen to live, but you gotta pay to stream past episodes.

Try the Spotify AI DJ thing, I find it gives me quite a wide array of new music that relate to my existing listening patterns whilst also incorporating songs I already know.

  • Coverville.

  • I rewatched American Graffiti recently and went and found a few rips of old Wolfman Jack radio shows. If you're after oldies with some obscure tracks in there. I love throwing it on while doing yardwork.

If you're after an eclectic show that also includes more modern stuff I really enjoy the Do!!You!!! radio show that used to be on NTS but has since gone independent - https://doyou.world/

  • There's a specific podcast by a pair called "alex & astrid" called Music Posting on youtube, uploads around once a week.
