Has anyone bought one of these "Non AU" laptops before on Amazon? What's the catch with these as the price is much cheaper than buying the same one in store?

Yeah almost 3 year difference between the processors (and 2 generations - 11th vs 13th)
If you can afford one of the touchscreen models in these I'd strongly advise it. Going with the light(ish) weight form factor it really pairs well for general tasks. Not only do you get a 2560p screen, the screen is also less flimsy due to the touch glass.
The Ultra 7 processors seem to have a lot of new instruction sets that will take load off the CPU for passive processing, The DDR5x ram is much faster and the storage substantial at Gen4 SSD inclusion. It's true it will set you back a bit more but it has enough power to last you a long time. I would expect these to be sub 3K by black friday sales, maybe even before if you can wait that long. Current lowest price is 3329 with their 10% signup discount but I'm pretty sure there'd be more wiggle room soon.
Completely different processors. The JB Hi-Fi version is significantly more powerful.
