I believe Skil is a US-market brand of Bosch.

If so would be somewhere between good and very good.

edit - a Chinese company purchased the brand name

Also just check they actually have them in stock. I've been waiting over 2 weeks for their mower that went on sale at total tools

Yep same boat, but it was on pre-order and said 7-9 business days or something from memory.

Looks like the mower and chainsaw is also on sale.

I bought this kit, the mower kit and whipper snipper during their boxing day sale. Has been the same price since except the mower kit is not listed anymore with the battery.

The order was filled only last week but the blower came without the battery so i have to wait mid Feb I was told. They didn't let me take the blower without the battery.

I feel the price point is about right with the quality, i was a little underwhelmed. One of the nuts to hold the bolt for the assembly of the handle came loose, only held by plastic. I had to disassemble quite a bit to get it back in and add epoxy. Broken already before using, i didn't mind the little DIY and thought it is what it is worth.

I like that it is less than half the weight compared to my 80v Kobalt as it is mostly plastic even the deck. Didn't have the same amount of power than what I'm used to compared to my old Kobalt. I'm not saying it is bad, i just don't have any experience compared to other 36 to 40v models.

Whipper snipper is the same, very light duty and lack power. It might be okay for a quick trim. All that said I'm still keeping them, but not ready throw away my old ones as originally planned.

    • How long the battery lasts on the mower on full? Does it struggle with big area / big grass?

      • +1

Yes for my usecase, lasts about 15min with the motor running on high covering approximately 200plus sqm. The motor changes low and high speed depending on load. So i couldn't complete my mowing on a single charge.

I might pickup a second blower kit as it comes with this 5Ah to have a pair of battery to rotate with.

        • Did your whipper snipper come with the battery? The one listed here is skin only

          How much was the kit?

    • I got the whipper snipper too.

I will preface it with the fact I haven't used it yet so can't comment on power.

I was quite impressed with the features - 90deg rotation of the head and maybe 120deg in the angle. Head comes with a built in roller for easy edging. It's light.

Quality and power I have no idea yet.

  • Great deal!

  • Great deal if they had the product - ordered 3 weeks ago - when I followed up with Total Tools yesterday, they said they had NO stock and were ordering from the manufacture. No communication about this. Happy to take the money and leave the customer to wait 3 months. NOT a deal at all. Regretful purchase.
