    i got $240 spend lol

    • $240! Mines $70 spend.

My weekly shop is about $90 -$120. Do you usually spend ~$300/week?

      • Wowsers, easily $300 a week with a tribe of kids floating around. But no offers in our flybuys, havent seen anything for months

        • +2

Their dumb ass marketing team obviously takes you for granted and don't value loyalty.

You need to go to Woolworths for a while and see what happens. That's the behaviour their marketing is encouraging.

          • @arcticmonkey: For every person moaning about taking their business elsewhere because they don't get the special offer new customers get, I'd wager there are multiple who don't care (i.e. giving them the same discount would be an unnecessary loss).

These large companies spend a huge amount on analytics to work out things like this. I'd trust their judgement more than yours!

            • @callum9999: We've found the fool who keeps spending at companies that take them for granted!

          • +1

@arcticmonkey: That's exactly how it's done. I've got the convenience of having Aldi and Coles within 2km radius. If Coles gets to greedy. I'll simply go to Aldi for a couple of weeks. Has been working great for the past 6 years.

            • @AE: How does that work for someone collecting Velocity points though

We could stop using flybuys for a month but without knowing the algorithm to start back up again we're at a disadvantage

The game is rigged, who would have thought!!:!!!:!:!

        • Get a second flybuys account & rotate between the two every couple months. Both accounts will have far better deals.

          • @mitt: You know what @mitt thats a pretty good bloody idea. I might just go ahead and do that

I already have a second account I dont really use, perfecttttt

    • +7

      I struggle to buy $50x4, $240 I would faint.

      • Because we don't drive, we would rarely spend more than $50 a shop at Coles unless we buy particularly expensive items like detergent etc. I've activated this, but we would have to buy lots of stuff in bulk to end up qualifying.

    • Did you buy Coles Mastercards in the bonus Flybuys points deals?

      • +1

Yeah me too. I dont like their meat and vegetables so it is so difficult to find sth to buy.

        • +1

A slab of coke cans or similar and a few cleaning products haha I’m the same with Coles I struggle to spend $50 a week there

  • Got it! My targeted spend is actually down to $50 from $60 last time around.

    • Same. That $60 was a weird one. First time they'd bumped me up from $50 in literally as long as I can remember.

      • -1

from $50 in literally as long as I can remember.

        'literally'

      • I got $60 this time tho….

  • They bumped mine up to $70.
Do I boycott or spend the extra $80..

    • +7

      Spend $240. That’ll show em.

    • +2

      Boycott

    • +2

They upped mine this time from $50 up to $60.
Have activated offer and will only do small occasional shops . Then next time they should drop it to $50 again.
If you spend more they will up it each time and in no time your shop amount will go up to over a hundred.

      • +2

Yes if I need to do a bigger shop I use Flybuys for around $50 with any bonus products in that and then the rest without Flybuys so it won’t up my required spend (or split between multiple Flybuys cards if you have more than 1).

      • what if you just hide it?

  • +2

I got $60 week spend, which is odd because I haven't used flybuys for ages

  • I got 4 x $60 spend requirement.

  • +2

Thank you. I stopped using flybuy for 2 weeks, then $90 down to $50 now. It is better to have 2 flybuy accounts.

    • Nice idea. Cycle through each to get the best offers.

  • Is there anything you can buy at Woolworths or Coles to hit these bonus spends that you could like resell for what you paid for?

I don't shop a lot at either, I currently have spent $40 for 2000 everyday rewards and now I have spent $60 for 2500 flybys every week or whatever it is

    Dammit no gift cards, ohwell.

    • +2

Buy a couple kilos of grass-fed beef mince to eat and freeze the remainder.

      • I don't wanna spend $30 a kg on mince and every week for 4 weeks? Ahhh
        I dunno

        • +2

What do you eat to not spend more than $60/wk on groceries? I used to do that a few years ago, but I found out the hard way that excluding healthy foods due to price ends up costing more in the long run. Quality food is an investment and medicine, not an "expense" :)

          • @rekke: If you shop at the end of the day and get meat when it's clearance prices or shop at some charity run places and cheap fruit markers you can definitely get away with it and still have plenty of food for the week, for example I know of a place that has done $3 bags of frozen Tegal portions and kg lasagnas for super cheap. Another fruit market Ive gone to has done 8c avos and other fruits for insanely cheap, nothing wrong with them just excess

            • @lookingforadeal7: Good call on the cheap stock and fruit and veg markets, another benefit is their soil is generally more nutrient dense, which will probably be better for you in the long term!

The other stuff is pretty good for a quick meal but after eating them for a while I found my heatlh to decline :(

              • +1

@rekke: Maybe whilst I'm a bit younger my body can handle it but I doubt it's good in the long run, definitely not at peak health eating that sort of stuff but wasn't bad as long as I was eating fruits and veg as well. I try keeping my weekly shops under $70 a week so $10 a day but some days I might not be able to get any meat on clearance so have to pay full price realistically will get a bit closer to $100

          • @rekke: What happened?

            • @Headless: To name a few … multiple issues with gut health and gut lining, poor issues with focus and concentration, general feeling of sluggishness and low energy, mood symptoms, skin breakouts, hormonal problems and food sensitivities. Not fun!

          • +1

@rekke: I buy my fresh food from the market and am on a budget so rarely spend $50/week in Coles/WW.

I'm a sucker for a special offer so buy random stuff in bulk when these offers come on and end up buying far more junk than I normally would - it definitely doesn't improve my diet!

        • +2

          What mince is $30/kg?

          • +1

@Fobsessive: Probably like the extra lean, organic grass fed 5 star Clover mince from Coles. But just the grass fed beef or lamb is around 12-18$ per kg which is well worth it, in my opinion.

    • -2

If you were to return an item you still meet the spend threshold :)

      • Really….woah, didn't know that.

But a toaster and return it
        Kettle and return it
        Blender and return it
4th week, loaf of bread and carton of milk and you'll probably need them at some point

        • But you dont have toaster

      • +2

I've not qualified offers by doing this, contacted and was told I'd returned an item,
So its hit and miss to do this.

        • What about with Woolies/BigW?

          • @Fobsessive: Donno, don't shop there.

          • +1

@Fobsessive: With Woolworths, if you make a purchase and then return it, you should still qualify for any bonus points promotions. However, Woolworths does not allow change of mind refunds, so there will be limited circumstances where you can actually get a refund.

            No idea about BIG W.

      • +4

Idk how lucky you are, but don’t be spreading info that it’s safe to do that on a regular basis.
I’ve done a (2 or 4 wk) baby offer last time and originally qualified, but next few days found something cheaper somewhere else and returned an item, next day my whole pts were revoked. Contacted FB CS and they told me flat out i returned an item so i wasnt qualified. Pissed me off to high hell.

    • Have a look at tech stuff like mobile phones on sale. You should be able to flip and breakeven after costs if you choose carefully.

  • Thanks OP, probably would have missed this otherwise. Spend $60 for 4 consecutive weeks!

By the way, has anyone had experience with purchasing Coles Mastercards in-store throwing off their weekly Flybuys offers spend thresholds?

    • 1000% yes

$1k on MCs, minimum spend went from ~$60 to $180

  • Ah bugger, i feel like a failed Ozbargainer. I literally just placed a delivery order without checking OZB first.

    • The first week period still runs for 10days.

    • If delivery is not today, you can activate the flybuys and then cancel and reorder your delivery again

      • +1

Unfortunately it gets here in two hours and its already passed the cancellation window. Oh well, luckily for me my spend is only $50 minimum so i should be able to sneak another order in before the first 10 day window.

  • I got 4x$60, but I nowadays seldom spend more than $30 per week at Coles or Woolies because their prices are significantly higher than those at local fruit markets

  • 4x $190 :/

  • it is targetted. I got an email to spend $100 every week.

  • +1

Fantastic, haven’t shopped at Coles for few months and got $60x4. 2k points for spend $70 + 10% off for next shopping!
Gotta use gift cards from 5% discounted GCX now.

  • +15

I wish they’d allowed multiple transactions like Woolies

  • 4 x $180 for me.

Question, its say excluding gift cards, does that include the coles mastercards?
Assume liqour is ok and not excluded.

    • Yes it excludes Mastercards and includes liquor online

  • A reminder from last time this was on that there was some ambiguity about if you redeem points for $10 off shop and that drops you below min spend.
E.g spend $55 get $10 off using points and now $45. Does this still count as meeting the $50 shop?

    • +2

      Yes.
Source: can confidently confirm, I often get offers of 1200 points/$30 spend.
I select to use the automatic $10 off/2000 points redemption, effectively making my cost $20+ and get the 1200 points the next day.

      • That's awesome that you regularly get 1.2k points for every $30 spend, that's 20% off

I only received the offer twice recently.

  • 4 x 60 - hmmmm boycott or play along with the flybuys game

  • +1

Cole's offer is much worse than Woollies equivalent, it must be one shop and some stuff (non grocery in their super saver line like Aldi) excluded!
If you missed 1 cents, you loose the whole 10000 points! Woollies similar deal is for total spending in one week, so I went back to spend a dollar to get the bonus a few times.
Also, Woollies Reward APP is so much easier than Flybuys and gift cards payment. Bugger off Coles!

    • +1

Yeah it's dumb you can't pay with gift cards online. Must be intentional

  • I got this offer. I'm hoping they have some good special buys, otherwise I won't spend $50 per week.

  • got $80 a week.. i'm moving to aldi for the time being.

    • Just get a new flybuys a card

      • Ooooo good idea

  • +1

Used to shop Woolies all the time. Can’t say no to Coles with all these offers now days….

  • Mine are up to $70 and $80, time for a break from Coles. Hope Woolies respond with a nice cross-month offer that goes with 4 x 10%.

  • +3

    Nothing here, what gives

  • 4x $60.
    Usually it is 4x $50.
    I'll skip.

  • 4x $90

    • Same. Gotta spend less till I can get the 50x4 again

  • I got the $50 deal probably because I rarely use this. Is it better to take the 10,000 points or the $50 off?

Just noticed my flybuys account is negative 812 points as well. No idea how that happened.

    • +1

      Definitely the 10,000 points.

    • +1

Re negative points, you can log into app and see transactions. Likely you selected yes to redeem 2K points for $10 off your payment total at the checkout without noticing.

      • Sometimes if you do a shop within 24hrs of redeeming your last remaining 2000pts the system won't realise you've already redeemed it and will ask you again in the pop-up. I've lost track of the number of times I've gone negative around these 10000pts deals.

  • Got $80, each year keeps getting bumped up $10

    • Each year? Every time I complete these challenges mine goes up by $20-40. Eg. from 120 to 160.

      • Not sure what I'm doing right but mine has always remained at $50 except for the deal previous to this one which was $60. Got this one again at $50.

Mind you I never participate in any deal that is over $50. Except for that one $60 one, which I did complete.

        • Mind you I never participate in any deal that is over $50

So, you don't even activate them? I thought the idea is activate a deal and spend much less than needed and they will lower the threshold for the next one.

          • @Azro: I never activate them.

I've always viewed activating them as engagement.

  • $140 x 4
Time to go woolies for a few months

  • 4 x $130 for me
    What have I done wrong?

    • +2

      Spent too much at Coles

  • Good timing, got 4 x $60 and 4 x $90 on the other Flybuys account, was waiting for this sort of offer again, was going to shop at Woolies 2 x $80 (for 4k rewards points) otherwise.

  • Mine is $220 and double for $270. Up from $190 and $240 previously.

I got an email late last year saying I was in top 1% of point earners in Australia lol.

I have a lot of tins of half price tuna in the cupboard from spending an extra $15 etc to make the target each week.

$220/$270 is ridiculous even with recent price jacking of groceries and time to skip.

  • 4 x $250 here

  • -1

why is this a deal? i get this approx. every 3 weeks and assumed everyone else was similar.

    • +3

Getting 10k points after spending 4 X $50 is like
Spend $200 and get $50 credit or
      Sort of getting 25% off.
