Phillips AirFryer is decent. That was easy.

They're like toasters or kettles. They are all pretty much the same.

    • The simpler they are the longer they last. Stay away from those digital timers, tactile buttons, LCD screen shit, they won't last long with heat. A spring winding timer and a dial for temperature is all you need. They will last long time.

It's like an instant mini oven, a heating element and a fan that forces the heat around. Find one with a good basket which is easy to clean.

  • There's a heap on Amazon

  • I’m seeing a air fryer and then a air fryer oven

    Which is better

    Very confusing hahaha

    • We bought the Instant Pot Vortex Plus 5.7L Air Fryer when it was on sale. At $169 i wouldn't get it. Wait for sale if you can

  • Happy with our Instantpot 10L, gets a lot of work.

  • We bought the 25l $139 KMart one to replace our dead one and it's really quiet.

Watch the temperatures as it generally runs around 10 degrees above what it says.

  • I bought the instant Vortex Plus in 1 of the sales, airfryer itself is great. However the tray's coating has already rubbed off 3 months after use. We only handwash with a sponge. Manufacturer sent us another tray and same thing not even a month later. Apparently it's 'non toxic' so… Also some bits of the basket coating has also come off, probably when we put the tray in. Too bad there's no stainless steel version of this type of airfryers as we can't go back to the oven style anymore

Most brands are ok depending on the size and multifunction you need. Avoid Kmart appliances as they are not good. As per my experience, I bought a large air fryer and a microwave from them two years ago but both had defects and were returned.

After I told my mate I got the typical Philips

He said I should have tried the Ninja, lots of good reviews

  • I bought the Aldi 3 tier one - a virtual benchtop oven. A bit noisy, but can do a lot in one go. I think it was $149, comes up yearly.

  • Mrs is looking at the Philips 7000 series air fryer

    This one - https://www.myer.com.au/p/philips-7000-series-connected-airf…

    Thoughts?

    • why does she want that one? that's almost 3x the price of my 1st recommendation and more than 4x the price of my 2nd.

      • It’s a big one and I think she wants a decent brand one and from what I can google Philips and Tefal seem to be the best ones

I don’t know, that what she just said

        • well you cant really go wrong with philips + its the one she wants…so you don't have much of a choice now.

          • @BLAIL: Yes I’m not 100% sure tho
Is Phillips that good? I had a Philips steam iron and it died

@Twisty: a few people have recommended it in this thread - but that particular model is expensive. Thats why I think you should go with the Instant Port Vortex Plus as it's much cheaper for equal quality even though it's smaller.

@BLAIL: She is now looking at the 9.7l Dual Zone Ninja

Ninja Foodi Max XXXL 9.7l one

    • Get her a toaster oven. Got a fan and elements on top & bottom. I have owned one of these air fryers and they are impractical. I now have a Breville toaster oven and it's great. Heats up just as quickly you can grill bake or whatever AND it makes an excellent dehydrator. Would never recommend a pull out air fryer.

    • Avoid the digital push buttons. They fail with heat.

  • Can’t go wrong with a Philips airfryer. Easy to use and long lasting. I’ve had 3 of various models in the last 10 or so years, with our current being an XL. Happy to get another Phillips, if I ever need to again.

Yer it’s either between the Phillips 7000 or the Ninja 9.7L

  • You should be looking around $60 for a 5 litre when on sale….probably made in the same Chinese factory as the $200 version but with out the fancy sticker….. like a toaster they are now a commodity item.

  • The Phillips xl is very good. Replaced a Kmart unit and have never looked back. Even better when it’s on special! Worth spending more for this fryer.

  • I bought this Sunbeam 12-in-1 Multifunctional Air Fryer Oven (https://www.amazon.com.au/Sunbeam-Multifunctional-Capacity-D…). It can do multiple functions, so it's good for replacing a few appliances. I also like its large size, makes it easier to clean.

  • Any are fine. Pick one with two compartments (so you can easily kick two different items at once if you'd like).

  • I have the TV shop Air Roaster Pro.

It cooks at up to 220ºC rather than being limited to 200ºC as just about all other air fryers are.

Better for crispier chips and tastier steaks.

I also prefer the oven-like door with internal shelves instead of a slide out tray.

    Much more useful.

I have several, cheap ones work and will get you into the “Cult of the Air Fryer” to start.

Great kitchen tool and it’s great for anything that would normally be baked or fried so long as it fits.

The drawer versions are good but make sure you get the biggest drawer you can because pork belly and whole chickens can then be cooked. I do not think the double drawer versions are a good idea as each side is too small.

To throw a curveball though, we recently purchased a Breville mini oven air fryer, this can bake, grill and AF, it’s better than the above mentioned version, fits more and is easy to view what is going on - just harder to clean.

To clean easy because they get very grimy, use the dishwasher as its magic!

  • We have had the Philips XXL, or whatever the biggest one was at the time, for years now. Gets used all the time and is magical.

We have the Ninja, with the two baskets, works very well. Having two different things cooking at the same time, but different temps and/or timers is great

    • Yer the ninja has massive reviews on Amazon

  • Ninja dual zone air fryer is the go!!! I bought mine about 3yrs ago now and couldn't be happier!! It's perfect for 2 people!!

    • Is it dishwasher safe?

      • The drawers, yes. The air fryer, not so much. Joking aside, I've never had to use the dishwasher to clean the draws. They're so easy to keep clean after each use. I just half fill each drawer with cold water and a squirt of dishwashing liquid once I'm finished cooking and let them soak and cool down while I'm eating. Rinse, wipe and repeat…

  • The Philips XXL Air Fryer is $294.22 on Amazon
