Oral B Power Toothbrush Genius X Black $135 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Chemist Warehouse

150

Not as good as the previous $119 Amazon prime deal, but close.

Chemist warehouse rrp is stupid, but actually matches current amazon prices.

Realistically this is about $90 off its "appropriate" rrp.

The one I ended up getting was actually $122, didn't get a photo of it and seems to be an outlier as their site adverts show $135

Contains AI, and this is why human civilization falls to Skynet.

I would never put AI in my mouth

      • That's what she said.

      • You clearly haven't watched the new Bladerunner

      • That's what Peggy said too

  • Small update, just went to another chemist warehouse and its cheaper there ($122). I guess prices vary.

Might be worth putting in your deal description.

Ok in-hand review time for anyone that's interested.

Physically seems a great brush. Love the travel case since I'm fifo.
Brush handle is plastic so maybe doesnt feel like a $122 (or $500rrp haha) premium product though.

The AI is borderline stupid. It basically just breaks your mouth down into 6 zones and seems to break them down into 3 further planes (front, back, under) and measures the time spent one each.
The "AI" is very easy to fool. Eg when trying to hit some crevives from diferent angles it thinks you're in the other side of your mouth.

The coaching (screenshot) is useless for an adult but i can see its value for getting kids to be consistent day to day.

Overal the best feature is the red light for using too much pressure, but this is on most brushes now.

Personally wouldn't recommend for the price, unless for kids, but its not bad enough to return.

For whomever buying this, register your toothbrush with Oral-B for an additional year of extended warranty.

P.S: Not sure if the standard warranty is 2 years, when I registered mine bought last year, the total warranty ended up being for 3 years.

I bet these use the new black brush heads and are probably more expensive as I believe the Genius X uses a different brush head from the old style that has been Oral-B’s staple for maybe ten plus years.
My experience with the cheap brush head copies that are many are so rubbish I had some where the pin that attaches the head of the brush would fall out after barely a month, or other problems (YMMV) so I ended up going back to using genuine standard style brush heads, but finding deals where I could get 8-12 genuine brush heads for mid $30s mark.

I personally think most models of the lesser Genius range would do an equally good job cleaning your teeth. So I’m curious why this X model is so much better. I read the review but I didn’t really learn much. I believe the full kit price is closer to $500 and this is a cut down version? Not sure about the massive difference in price, what don’t you get?

Sorry, a bit cynical on this new model. Go look on Oral B’s website at their extensive range of much the same with very minor incremental features.

Someone please prove me wrong. BTW have been using Oral B Genius range and a previous model for maybe 15 years.

    • I have the white Genius X and it uses the same heads as my previous 10-year old Oral-B and as my kids Oral-B handles. It's the iO range which have completely different heads. Hope that helps someone.

Agree that incremental features are mostly just confusing and never-used. I've only ever used the default brushing mode, for example. I personally like the bluetooth on the Smart/ Genius range as I do like to keep track of my brushing, and my dentist told me I was not giving all my teeth equal attention, and pushing too hard, which the app and pressure sensor really helped with. The travel charging case is useful but not really necessary.
