Ghost Kitchens on Uber Eats/DoorDash

Is anyone else tired of these? I see so many ghost kitchens in my area, and 9/10 times I'm left disappointed after ordering from them.

Some examples:
Dante's hot chicken
Alabama chicken & wings
Rib-a-licious
Supreme leader chicken

Afaik a lot of these ghost kitchens operate out of either noodle box or pattysmiths. Outside of these few you have no clue where your food is coming from.

Most of the offers I see on doordash now are almost exclusively for these ghost kitchens.

  • People keep buying them. Especially when bored of the usual choices.

    Alabama is indeed absolutely terrible!

Dante's, Patty Smith's, Huxtaburger and Noodle Box are all under ATE Concepts.
At my Huxta you can order Patty's, Dante's in store.

Never knew about this, but Patty Smith's is infamous in our house for that one time we received some of the absolute worst food in the universe.

    • powdery fried chicken 🤮

      Because the night.

Supreme leader chicken has some physical locations.

I don't mind the idea of ghost kitchens, in theory. The 30% that Uber Eats takes the ghost kitchens get back by not having to rent or maintain a dining room.

But do they really pass this 'saving' on? :)

Where I used to live there were a whole bunch of takeaway places that only existed on the delivery apps. They were all the same place, and did that to provide clean slates from the negative reviews and also to flood the search results.

The ones I hate are the ones operating out of someone's home. They usually have BOGOF offers to lure you in but their prices are ridiculously high.

    • These are my main gripe tbh. A meal is like $40, then you get a 40% discount off your first order. Most of my door dash promos are for places like this.

    • I have offered nothing!

People have all these problems with ubereats etc, yet continue to use it.

  • I got some food from supreme leader a few years ago when they had some kind of special and it was fine. It wasn’t as good as a real Korean restaurant but it was better than KFC.

I’m not a regular fast food eater though and have only had each of them once in the past 4 or 5 years.

  • What are the ratings of these Ghost Kitchens? Any warning signs?

  • Afaik a lot of these ghost kitchens operate out of either noodle box

Ghost kitchens are pretty common, they allow a place to have a side hussle outside of the main business food offering.

Lots of companies listed here, Noodle Box claimed to have 8 virtual brands.

  • and 9/10 times I'm left disappointed after ordering from them

Simple solution is to stop ordering from them and only order from places you're familiar with.
