ADHD - How to Find Cheapest Place for Ritalin?

Hello, I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and have a prescription to get Ritalin 10mgmethyphenidate hydrochloride 100 10mg.

Where is the cheapest chemist to go to for this medicine?

I'm not working so just keen to try to save as much $ as I can and I haven't had medicines like this before or even use much medicine so just unsure.

Could anyone help whose on this or who has to buy this medicine or knows about chemists?

Thank you.

Chemist Warehouse should be able to offer you the cheapest generic version of most medicines.

    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/37152/ritalin-10-mg-tablets-100-(authority-script)—-methylphenidate

At the bottom of the page it shows you alternative products. Ritalin is $17.99, alternative Artige is $13.99. Speak to pharmacist to confirm it's an appropriate replacement. Some Doctors specify NO alternatives to some medicines.

    • OP may also be eligible for the concession price, which they should look into.

How does one get diagnosed with ADHD

    Asking for a mate…

    • +2

      Very carefully

    • Reminds me of that Sopranos episode: "What constitutes a fidget?"

Believe me - it's much cheaper/quicker to go street than to go through the processes for diagnosis. After 26 months, I've only had two appointments

      • Allegedly the same if you want prescription cannabis too. Cheaper than any CBD treatment either - however you'll end up with the psychoactive component if you go street.

what if it turned out we WERE NOT undiagnosed ..just bad at focusing :')

Probably like 50% of Australians with ADHD.

        DOWNVOTE AWAYYYYYYYYY

I have a mate (who's a doctor) who's seeing an increased number of families (mums) booking appointments for the testing to justify why their kids are acting up.
He loves telling them after that no, they just have a normal kid and they just need to get out and exercise more. Almost takes pleasure in it, the disappointment on the mum's face when they don't get the calm down pills is priceless apparently.

So your mate is a psychiatrist?

Could almost guarantee they will just doctor shop until one gives them the confirmation bias they desire.

          • @Mechz: Yeah he did say that was fairly common.

they just have a normal kid and they just need to get out and exercise

But kids with ADHD are normal kids, just that they have ADHD

He'd probably do more good testing the mums themselves. After all… monkey see, monkey do.

Most young mothers these days can't go for more than 30 minutes without a dopamine hit from scrolling through social media feeds on their phones, messaging their friends or cataloguing their life as a mother on Instagram/FB, because otherwise it didn't really happen.

It's a wonder they actually notice anything is "off" about their kids to begin with, as their own attention spans as (supposedly) fully-developed adults are far more problematic than a prepubescent child who is simply displaying the normal traits of a partially-developed brain, emotional control and reasoning skills.

          • @Gnostikos: 30 minutes is a stretch. Guaranteed 8 hours or more screen-on-time for these absentee yet somehow helicopter parents.

@Mechz: Not for some of the young mothers I know. It is bizarre how they manage to be simultaneously half-assed and yet overly-attached parents when they remember to present a concerned parent facade.

Most chemists are around the same price on this so don't stress about chasing prices. Last 3 chemists we have purchased from have all been $17.99 for a box of 100.

At $5 a pill thats not a bad side hustle.

  • Where is the cheapest chemist to go to for this medicine?

Your prescription price is going to be as cheap as it gets…..

  • I want it and I want it now.

  • Local street corner, $20 a dose for meth ;)

  • The last thing you need is that stuff. Every person I've known who has taken Ritalin, never needed it in the first place.

    • How was that determined?

    • You're not a psychiatrist are you…..?

It's called regret. Blind trust plus white lab coat syndrome. You'll work it out on your own. You have to.

  • Dark web

  • Thanks everyone.
    meth it is.
