Was looking for the printer and got this from Local officeworks with 5% pricebeat and paid with the ultimate gift card. Which brought down the price even more..

    Their business model is printing as a subscription service. So the printer needs to be free.

      Nah, you have to pay for the printer as well to ensure you don't damage their property/their costs are covered if you do. They aren't running a charity.

        cant you just refill the tank using a bottle of ink? Looks like the brother printers you cant even refill the tanks, you still need to buy cartridges so whats so good about them?

          that's the plan.. For me total cost of it was little less than $300 with gift card and office works price beat.. But I can't find a colour laser printer at this price point. even if you buy genuine HP ink bottle this comes out cheaper than equivalent number of non-genuine cartridges(inkstation). But everyone to there own I guess.
          if you are concern there is Canon megatank at similar price can't remember the exact model number, however it doesn't do duplex printing which was important for me..
