May come handy for getting AC room in 40 Degrees for 2 to 3 hrs :)

I go to local shopping centre along with my phone charger

    • +6

Cant do it with kids though, they have max battery of 2 hours (if you're lucky) before losing it completely

      • -1

Hence I said with Charger. Many foodcourt tables have power points.

        • +9

As in, I meant the kids have a max battery life of 2 hours lol

          • @gud2cu: Sounds more like a fuse or a patience meter than a battery.

        • +2

Have they updated them to Type-C yet?

        • +1

The kids’ “batteries” - they get bored and go nuts

        • You’ll get there one day mate.

      • +1

You can keep them topped up with this.

        • lol

    • amateurs, I go camping in IKEA without camping gears

  • Cannot be redeemed for Chicks at the Flicks. What does that mean?

    • +11

They're just special events for feminine themed movies marketed as a girls night out.

inb4 this is made into a culture war.

      • -5

Is that only for women? What if I identify as one?

        • -1

Exactly, montorola, not sure why negged

          • +4

@gud2cu: You could probably go if you like chick flicks and romantic movies. If you want to spend $50 on a gold class ticket and another $40-$50 dollars on a goodie bag, prizes and games, go right ahead.

          • +2

@gud2cu: He’s negged because most sane people are sick of dealing with people who have been radicalised by one off stories circulated by the media.
They could use that same platform to inform people rather than scaremonger.

        • +1

Genuinely curious if you use the lads or ladies room…

        • are you asking for his permission

    • +1

The Chicks at the Flicks program features special event screenings of the hottest Chick Flicks, with market stalls, lucky door prizes and a goodie bag filled with fabulous female products for all attendees.

    • +1

These are usually more expensive which they justify by providing a glass of sparkling

Is there a way to get multiple or only 1?

    • +1

Hit the + to buy more than one

  • Any idea about the “Surcharges apply to upgrade to V-Max , 3D screenings or Recliner seating”?

    • +2

Just bought $8 ticket for a movie session for later tonight. Watching in V-max, so got hit with a $5 V-max surcharge plus $1.65 online booking fee. Total $14.65 which is not bad.

      • +1

        lol ripped off

        • Not really. It costs $28 if you purchase directly from Event. $1.65 online booking fee also applies. So total $29.65.

    • 40 Degrees
    • Excludes VIC

    Checks out.

People still frequent cinemas? Is the popcorn still inedible, and are the seats either unpleasant or uncomfortable, with individuals consistently coughing?

    • -2

i went for the first time in years to see Oppenheimer using a deal at the time. They're generally pretty empty from a sample size of one. Didn't eat the popcorn (no self respecting OzBargainer would) and didn't notice the seats or coughing much (the movie seemed extremely loud in parts, which might've been a Christopher Nolan thing).

      • -1

I haven't been since the 2000s, but I was never impressed with the experience compared to even a basic home setup. And I thought I read most went out of business.

        • I respect that. I’ve probably been about 5 times since then. I hope one day we’re both readmitted into society fully.

          • @kiriakoz: I've developed agoraphobia; weeks can pass without leaving my property. OzB is my shopping portal, and I cultivate my own food and drinks.

            • @raybies: I've developed it a bit post covid tbh. Until then, I was out and about way too much. I don't quite cultivate anything other than my own beer, but I do live in an apartment. I'm jealous to be frank.

              • @kiriakoz: Pre-COVID, I rented. Upon learning about a significant event being planned, I purchased a house in Aug 2019. I drilled a bore and started cultivating. Successfully grew a sweet, juicy watermelon this year after three years of attempts.
Finished my last double IPA keg yesterday, so tomorrow's a brew day. Double IPAs require over 10 weeks of conditioning for optimal taste.

                • @raybies: My parents, my mum in particular is very into growing as much of her stuff as she can. It’s very challenging to get some fruit and veg to grow and it obviously takes a lot of work and time initially. She has mangos, tomato’s, a lot of herbs, chilli, cucumber, oranges, etc. and she’s always got something in the works. She also swaps and trades a lot of it with neighbours.

                  • +1

@kiriakoz: Got all those growing. Once you discern the right soil and establish a symbiotic relationship with lizards and certain bugs, it's quite straightforward. Figs are amazing right now; had about six large ones this morning. I craft a superb kombucha with the pomegranates.

                    • @raybies: I think the reason it’s been slightly challenging for my mum is because she’s been learning those lessons. She’s old school so she wouldn’t be learning from the internet, it’d be pure trial and error and learning from her mistakes.

    • Maybe it's just my local, but the popcorn is usually quite good. A bit on the salty side, but definitely edible. The Hoyts near me have upgraded their seats so they're electric reclining chairs and very comfortable. The Village gold class seats near me are less comfortable than the Hoyts normal seats. YMMV. We've reduced our cinema visits since getting Netflix, D+ and P+ subscriptions but still go occasionally.

      • The salt rendered it inedible for me.
I think The Matrix Revelations was the last cinema experience I had (Macquarie Park Westfields). There was an unexpected spotlight on me, the Gold class seat was unsatisfactory, accompanied by excessive ambient coughing. The audio seemed improperly calibrated.

    Dune 2 not out yet

    • +1

      March supposedly.

        • And on HBO Max?

  • -1

If you're gonna pay $8 for a ticket, u might as well just turn on your a/c if you have one. You'll get to turn on the a/c for much longer than 2-3 hours

    • +1

      Df? I didn't downvote the post…

      • Well no-one else did… It's okay, it happens. You can always revoke your vote in the Votes tab right under the post title and above the OP's name.

  • Can voucher use for anydays like tomorrow?

    • Yes until 29 feb

    • i used today

  • Better than the Shopback one as you can use it on a Saturday night past 6pm. I did notice that there is a $1.65 charge for sessions past 6pm, otherwise there's no fee.

In the past, I've used the Shopback one to book recliner seats with no extra surcharge but YMMV.

    • No booking fee? I usually get stung by that

      • Doesn't appear to be for the normal sessions that I tried but the ones after 6pm Saturday seemed to incur the small $1.65 fee

  • +1

Shame February is a horrible month for new releases

    • I cant find anything decent now showing now or coming before expiry. Must the reason for the $8 tickets.

  • I can't seem to check out, pressed the "proceed to payment" and nothing happened. Anyone have problem buying the tickets?

    • Yes I can’t buy either.

  • Does anyone know how much the 3D upgrade is?

  • I can confirm that you can purchase the voucher and use it for sessions that are after the expiry date.
