But it doesnt have space or the option to put any text on it like your phone number..
So you have to hope that when your pet gets lost that its found by a tech-savy person rather and not the little old lady down the road..

This. Would be nifty. Would be happy to pay extra for the code on one side and the animal's name/ph on the other.

With this tag, you can also put your pet directly through the Qantas Q Check-in on the standard baggage conveyor.

gets a plus from me. with dogs myself and rescued many escaped roaming dogs in the past, any way of identifying pets is an awesome thing.

but i agree with previous posts, a place for a name/number engraved on the tag as well would make it one huge step in the right direction.

i also find pushing the "non intrusive" tag a bit… crap? there is nothing better than the implanted RFID tags you get from the vets. collars and QR tags like yours are easily lost or removed. injected RFID tags however are not and quite simply the best way to ensure your pet comes home if it gets lost. trying to take away from that i think is a negative tone towards your product… sorta in the same way as sledging an opposition/competitions product.

RFID is great, have them in my cats but would also like a way for the average person to be able to notify me if something happens. There's a significant delay if they have to take it to the vet etc. name and phone number would be great with QR code being useful for address etc so they could just bring them home if they're tech savvy. If they aren't they can just call the number.

Basically there's too much real estate taken up by the bloody branding.

I'd prefer a GPS enabled implated tag so I can track my dog on my iPhone with the FindMyiDog app

not a fan of imbedded GPS tracking…… the thought of trying to plug my rottweilers in for charging overnight somewhat scares me….

      • You'd need to recharge your dog daily.

Ditto. Especially when microchipping is often compulsory anyway. It's harmless, and for the slight discomfort experienced by the pet, well worthwhile, considering how easily a collar can be left off or whatever.

Sure, it's a supposedly discounted price of $5 as opposed to the cost of microchipping, but I'd personally prefer to put the $5 toward a tag engraved with my dog's name and phone number so that I can be contacted immediately should they be found somewhere, rather than wait for someone to come along who has the 'right' type of scanner.

      • "my dog's name and phone number"

if your dog has a phone number he should just call you himself ;)

Have you ever seen a dog that has run away from home who has taken a mobile phone with them?

  • +2

Once you have that double-sided (code on one name/number on the other) I would be more than happy to get it too :)

A few of my mates could do with one of these with their Friday evening shenanigans.

Would get one for the kids when we are travelling overseas, but they might be insulted by the pet reference.

Finally a use for QR codes that I don't find redundant :)

  • So much trouble. The good old ph number and address method is a much better way. If it were gps enabled, like someone above mentioned, I would be interested.
