NBN Network Status Constantly on "Network Degradation May Impact Your Connection"

For the last 3 months my nbn connection has frequently been dropping out randomly. When I check https://www.nbnco.com.au/support/network-status the status is always "Network degradation may impact your connection". I have recently changed NBN provider from TPG to More and there has been no improvement. I am on a HFC nbn connection so I can't upgrade to FTTP or anything, are there any solutions/upgrades I could do to try to resolve this? Talking to TPG or More hasn't achieved much apart from them saying they will follow up and have it repaired.

  • Sadly changing ISP won't fix it, seems NBN is cooked where you are.

  • You need to call for nbn tech to come out and repair the connections in the pit. Over time the coax connections become rusty / corroded.

The responsibility for the repairs of the nbn cable pits actually falls on nbn, not the RSP, since they bought it from Optus for $800 million.

    • My ISPs have been telling me NBN techs are working on it and NBNco clearly knows about the issue since they mention it on the website, it just sucks that it has been ongoing for months. I will try contacting the TIO to hopefully get this fixed faster.

HFC goes through the pit? Gee, you learn something every day.

    • To clarify you need to call your ISP to report the problem and not nbn.

Optus HFC went to the junk pile. nbn HFC consists of new HFC by nbn and re-used Telstra HFC.

I see, thanks for the clarification

The HFC port my nbn comes out of says Optus on it so maybe thats a reason :(

  • would help if we knew your location
