$10.95 "regular price" on 50ml of hand sanitiser is taking the piss…did you ever sell any of this stuff at full price? Google Cache doesn't lie…(I'd check but I'm on mobile).

      Thanks for the helpful advice.

You never answered the question. With such a snarky & entitled attitude as displayed by comments in this thread & previous posts I wonder how companies like yours stay in business…

        • -5

I would have happily answered your question had it been asked in a professional manner, rather than your accusatorial, mocking manner.

          • @traceyb: Anyone trying to flog 50ml of sanitiser for $10.95 deserves to be mocked, irrespective of how "mindfully made" it allegedly is. Reps talking shit on Ozbargain doesn't usually bode well for future deal posts. Keep the chat coming Tracey…it might be business to you but it's sport for us 👌🏻

            • -3

@The Judge: No one deserves to be mocked or bullied. Treating other human beings like sport does sum up your behaviour.

              • +1

@traceyb: I mean, I see the first comment as more of a criticism of the business than you personally. Criticising you came afterwards when you basically decided to stop acting like a business representative, and more like some dude on reddit.

And I too am of the opinion that selling hand sanitiser at ~$220/L is indeed rather steep. The most expensive hand sanitiser at Woolworths currently appears to be Thankyou. Hand & Surface Sanitiser Botanical Grapefruit Spray 50ml. This is also allegedly pretty decent for the planet, but it's only ~$99/L.

                • -2

@Aleigh123: I don't see the differentiation between criticising a business and criticising a person. A person wrote the words and feels the brunt of your words.

I choose not to justify the price as I have learned from this forum that it will just be used to belittle me further in future. I don't lie about original retail prices, and the sale price I offered was less than what I paid for it, and a genuine bargain.

                  • +1

@traceyb: Perhaps considering your position in the company, perhaps you'll take it personally. But if you don't see the difference between criticising an individual vs. a business entity, then that's on you.

And I'm not saying you're lying. I said it's a steep price, which it definitely is. If you decide that it's not worth your time, then sure, you do you. But as a representative of a business, you, and therefore the business you represent has decided that those of us here on OzBargain are simply not worth the time and effort to justify why the products you seem to take great pride in are worth as much as you're selling them for.

                    • @Aleigh123: I appreciate your reply. I'm very sorry for the confusion, but I was not referring to your comment about the lying - I was addressing the comment that started this thread, and the one by WatchNerd. I would happily make the effort to a genuinely curious question with good intentions.

Don't forget not everyone can afford Biome products. They are very ethical, but don't care so much about shaming low income earners.

    Too expensive for the planet?

    • -7

You're just making up drama for attention, or to make yourself feel clever. I thought I left bullies behind at school.

      • +1

I've just pasted your words but thanks for gaslighting me.

        • -4

No, you didn't just do that. You added your judgement in order to shame me - ironically, the same behaviour you were accusing me of.

  • +2

    Im here for the comments

  • You've got to remember OP, the people here only care about bargains. Ethical or not, so there's no point in arguing.

I try to support small business where I can and have been a Biome customer for a while. Thanks for the deals.

Thank you so much for your supportive words. I am standing up against this bullying behaviour that would not be tolerated in any workplace. After all, this is a workplace - people are not listing deals for a hobby. Without business people prepared to expose themselves to this terrible behaviour, there would be no bargains.

this is a workplace - people are not listing deals for a hobby

Incorrect. Most of the deals on this site are posted as a hobby.

        • -2

Thank you for letting me know. Hopefully such behaviour is also not tolerated in the hobby sphere either. It's not in any hobby groups that I am part of.

          • @traceyb: It would be worth sharing your sentiments with the admin team.

I am standing up against this bullying behaviour…

Oh, because someone doesn't just upvote your post and asked a few hard questions you consider that bullying?

I think the word "bullying" has been watered down so far that it now applies to "things I don't want to hear"

Also, this is not a workplace unless you work for the site owner and the administrators. You're a guest here, and while your job may be as a "social media marketer", this is hardly your workplace and we are not your work colleagues.

If a customer writes you an email about how your company had bad customer service and offered a poor quality product, would you still be crying "bullying"?

My suggestion is you look through your catalogue of wares and see if you guys stock any "skin thicker"; to help you out with all this "bullying".

I would just like to thank the site owner for upping our neg allowance to more than 5 a day, because I'm about to blow 5 in this thread alone.

OzBargain is a business, and place where work is conducted for many. It makes money from advertising revenue because a lot of people visit - no doubt, many for the 'sport' in the comments!

Happy to have hard questions. I stick my head above the parapet every day running an eco and ethical business that tries to stand up to strict principles, and so I am constantly critiqued for where we fall down.

One of the key aspects that defines bullying, is imbalance of power. The commenters are using their power (the OP's fear of being downgraded, or their post not 'going well') to use intimidating words that cause distress. And, in my case, it had been repeated over several deals I have posted.

By the way, I don't need a 'skin thickener' because, thanks to my father's advice, I've been eating spoonfuls of cement since I was a young girl.

What I don't get is that this is a very successful operation already (almost 20 years in business), with multiple B&M stores across Brisbane & Melbourne…why this lady (supposedly the owner & founder) needs to come to Ozbargain and mindlessly argue / try to lecture people, you'd think someone with a background in "corporate communication" would know better.

  • +5

All due respect OP, reacting to comments in this way doesn't bode well for your companies reputation and PR…

I appreciate you letting me know. Thank you.

  • Likening a bargain website to
workplace bullying is crazy. I’m glad I don’t work at your company as I’d be scared to crack a joke or have an opinion on anything for fear of being reported to HR. Unfortunately this seems to be the norm these days.
