In first with the “scam! This should be normal price for ice cream”
    “not a bargain”
“Wow when did ice cream become so expensive”

    Am I missing any?

    • "they used to be $5"

        “They used to be $4”

        • -1

They used to be a penny from the milkman

    • "Aldi is much better"

      • Whoever said that, can you guys point me to the right ice cream? Aldi was horrible last time I checked.

        • I hate most of the Connoisseur brand ice cream flavours, they taste very artificial to me especially the strawberry. I used to love Sara Lee, but they're no more 😞 I can vouch for the Aldi Indulge branded ice cream though. All of those flavours hit.

@JessC: Thanks, will give them a try.

            @JessC:

Sara Lee, but they're no more

What do you mean? My wife bought a tub a couple of days ago.

            • @mapax: WHAT?! WHERE?! My local Woolies stopped stocking them a month or so after the announcement they were shutting down. I just assumed it would be like that everywhere.

              • +1

                @JessC: Coles has it.
I just checked a couple of Sydney stores and it shows as available, so it’s not just Vic.

@JessC: Sara Lee saved, check below, hot off the press :-)

  • are these usually stocked and at this price in the morning?

    • Yes I don’t think there is a rush for half price ice cream

      • Everytime I go to Coles the half price halo top is cleared out, not even 1 tub. There’s 50+ upvotes on this post, what makes you think it isn’t popular?

  • These prices really push me towards getting an ice cream maker. I find air conditioners effective in reducing my need for ice creams though… I can just drink normal tea to give my tastebuds a treat.

How much is the air conditioning setting you back? Is a/c a bargain? You could just have no a/c and no ice cream. That’s a better bargain

      • That’s a great idea, I’m glad it works for you :)

    • If you havent noticed, unfortunately even milk, cream etc is going up in price.

      • I use east coast unhomogenised lactose-free once in a while for my kitten, it’s always been $6.x. The price came down to $5.x a couple weeks ago, but this week it’s gone back to $6.x. No idea what is going on.

        • What a baller. Your kitten drinks such fancy milk and you can’t afford ice cream for yourself

          • -1

@illusion99: It’s cheap comparing to whatever is in those milk that are marketed towards cats; it’s also cheap if you take into consideration of how much vet visits cost. Not to mention the kitten effect lol Would sell my kidneys.

AC costs so much to run. I rather eat ice cream.

      • But the wear and tear goes on to the AC as opposed to your body. New body costs a lot (I’ve heard people talking about genetic experiments being done in third-world countries to get around certain ethics. If that were true, it wouldn’t be everyday prices.).

        • Then why do you want to make your own ice cream? Home made ice cream still contains milk and heap lot of sugar. Why not just not eat any ice cream?

          • @illusion99: Because you get to choose what you put in if you are making it? Why would I want to stop eating ice cream altogether? That is a tiny bit extreme.

            • @frugalftw: Like you said you only get one body and nobody had made a healthy ice cream that taste good

  • Love their Matcha 😋

  • Does any other ice-cream company make choc chip cookie dough ice-cream besides Ben and Jerry's?

There's this one company called Much Moore, but they only have it in a 4-flavour tub. They apparnetly have a 1L tub, but they don't sell them anymore.

  • Is halo top any good? I feel like low carb/keto ice creams have all been trash but recently started keto again so don't have much options

    • I think its as good as youre going to get for low calorie "ice cream" if you can call it that. If youre expecting it to taste like ice cream then yeah, youre going to be disappointed - but when youre dieting i find that it hits the spot to fill you up and not kill your calories for the day. Im not sure these are really keto though, they are lower sugar and carbs than ice cream but i think its going to bump you out of your keto or go close to it - these low calorie ice creams are generally very low in fat but still contain a decentish amount of sugars/carbs.

  • Cafe Grande for the win - although I swear the swirls of Grand Marnier flavoured toffee syrup was more generous years back.
